July 22, 2010 Link to this post Win RAM, Help Marissa
It's not strictly Halo-related... but it's a cause that's near and dear to our hearts, and it's a chance for you to walk away with $250 worth of Crucial RAM. Marissa's Bunny is a blog devoted to raising awareness for a condition called 'Infantile Spasms' - we've posted pictures in the past of Fairfax the Bunny participating in all sorts of Halo-related activities. (Check our news archive for details, if this isn't ringing a bell.) Well, we got word from Marissa's dad Mike - they've got a new giveaway going on, and you could win up to $250 in Crucial RAM, simply by visiting the blog and leaving a note. (Full details are in the 'Giveaway The Third' blog post.) So what are you waiting for? Go enter! (Louis Wu 14:38:52 UTC)

June 19, 2009 Link to this post A Gamer's Alphabet - a charity project
I received an email from mick, a friend of Marissa's dad, Mike. (Marissa, if you haven't been reading long, is a little girl with infantile spasms; her dad started a program whereby Fairfax, a stuffed bunny, has been visiting people and places around the world (and getting photographed doing it) to raise awareness about Marissa's illness.) mick came up with the idea of creating a Gamer's Alphabet - a small book which would (in theory) contain a set of illustrated gamer words. (There is a conversation over at fazyluckers that might help explain what's involved.) If you'd like to help, swing by and sign up - you'll need to tell Chris, who approves all members, that mick sent you. There are so many amazing artists in the Halo community - by adding your skills to this project, you can help create a really cool little book that can be sold to help out Marissa! June 7, 2009 Link to this post Marissa needs your help!
You might remember Marissa's Bunny - Fairfax has been traveling around the US, raising awareness about Marissa's illness, infantile spasms. We recently got word from Marissa's dad that Marissa is back in the hospital - her spasms are out of control. He's hoping that anyone who can send along kind wishes will do so - in his words, "Perhaps the combined goodwill of the internet at large can help, because nothing else seems to be." Mike - we're with ya! There are lots of ways to help - from donating money or buying a bunny to simply emailing Marissa with your happy thoughts. Swing by the Marissa's Bunny website for lots of links. (Louis Wu 20:55:50 UTC)
November 22, 2008 Link to this post Bungie Weekly Update: ODSTs, Rabbits, and Teases, Oh My! Bungie posted their Weekly Update as the workday came to a close last night... it's a fun read. There's a writeup on the ODST, the star of their upcoming expansion project - go learn more about him, and what he is capable of! There's also a series of great shots with Fairfax, Marissa's Bunny - that rabbit is getting EVERYWHERE! And finally, there's a warning that next week's update will be nonexistent, owing to the holiday - but that there'll be interesting stuff earlier in the week to make you smile. Go read! (As always, it's also available in our Weekly Update Archive, if that's more appealing to you.) (Louis Wu 12:52:57 UTC)

October 26, 2008 Link to this post Fairfax 'n' the Chief
Wow... I'm floored. Hawty McBloggy enlisted the help of a LOT of friends to create an amazing montage of pictures showing off Fairfax the Bunny in a variety of Halo-related situations. Photoshop for the win! Fairfax is Marissa's Bunny, and he's out there to build awareness for infantile spasms - Hawty has shown that when a good cause is on the line, the Halo community can really step up. Check out the pics, leave your comments in the thread, and then visit Marissa's Bunny's page and see how you can help! (Louis Wu 18:06:22 UTC)
October 23, 2008 Link to this post Marissa's Bunny - jammin' with the Spartans
Remember when Fairfax the Bunny showed up here? Fairfax is Marissa's Bunny - he travels around the world, making people happy and building awareness for Marissa's infantile spasms. (He's got a whole website - you should visit it, if you hadn't before.) When Fairfax left here, he headed north, to Boston. Where he hung for a while - I guess nico's apartment is just a really comfortable place. But he's on the move again... recently, he arrived at the digs of Hawty McBloggy, and last night, the first pics emerged (thanks to geophf for the heads-up). Apparently, there'll be more as the week goes on. Keep an eye on this adorable bunny, and his antics; not only can he make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, he can help you realize the plight of Marissa. Don't forget to check his website, as well, for details on what you can do to help.

September 13, 2008 Link to this post Marissa's Bunny - Time to Say Goodbye
I think Fairfax's visit to HBO Headquarters is nearing its end. (It started here, and was followed up here.) He tried to tour the Yale campus (since it's pretty much right next door)... but it just wouldn't stop raining! While he waited, he explored a local brew pub... and I gotta say, once he was finished in there, the rain was irrelevant. When Fairfax wakes up, I'm gonna have to send him to someone else. If you smiled at all following him around the office, you should visit the Marissa's Bunny website, and see what you can do to help out! We're gonna miss the little guy... but really, I think I saw enough of the dark side of plush toys tonight. (Louis Wu 01:59:22 UTC)
September 11, 2008 Link to this post Fairfax gets some gaming in He hasn't left the house yet, but Fairfax (Marissa's Bunny) has been getting his Halo 3 game on. First he tried on some helmets (he skipped the one that was OBVIOUSLY too big), then decided he'd just play some Halo 3. (Check out those slick A40s!) Follow his latest exploits in the gallery we set up for him! (Louis Wu 14:45:51 UTC)
September 10, 2008 Link to this post Marissa's Bunny: Fairfax Visits HBO
If you were at PAX this year, or followed PAX coverage, you might know about Marissa's Bunny; he RickRolled the crowd at the Jonathan Coulton concert, for example (5:41 in). Marissa is a baby girl who was diagnosed with infantile spasms last winter. Her father decided to raise awareness for the disease by sending Fairfax (a shared name for a small set of fluffy bunnies) around the world, as an ambassador of hope. Fairfax arrived at HBO Headquarters this afternoon, and wasted no time preparing for a game of Grifball - over the next few days, we should have some other pictures of Fairfax to share, but for now, you might consider visiting Marissa's page, and seeing if there's anything you feel like contributing (time, money, hugs... whatever you've got). The current treatment for the disease is horrendously expensive, mostly because so few people are diagnosed with the disease... but it's unclear whether that's because incidence is low, or because pediatricians are missing it.
