Halo 2 - The Movie (trailer)
Progress continues on the Movie Peer Review Rating System; we've tweaked the required final score to be a bit lower (it seemed we were weeding out EVERYTHING), and we've added 3 more reviewers to the 'Required Reviewers' total - when we required 7 reviewers, a single low rating could knock a contender out of the running (and at least one reviewer has been rating vids consistently below average). We also changed the wording on the response that submitters get if their movie doesn't make the cut; they're now encouraged to use the feedback to improve their movie, and resubmit. (That was always part of the plan, but I don't think we made it clear enough - this system was built for two primary reasons; to weed out some of the overabundance of videos... but also to help moviemakers IMPROVE their skills.) The first result of these changes - a video that was submitted, and rejected, was edited with an eye to the criticism and resubmitted - and it passed. You can grab comradx's Halo 2: The Movie (Trailer) in WMP9 format (29.2 mb, mythica.org | bungie.org) or QuickTime format (29.2 mb, bungie.org | mythica.org) - it's the first teaser of a full-length movie based on the Halo 2 storyline, using cutscene footage mixed with David Galindo's impressive works (with full permission). There's a thread devoted to this project over at High Impact Halo. (Louis Wu 14:50:04 UTC)

Music for Pretty Vids
Each time David Galindo releases a Halo vid, forum threads pop up, asking what music he used. Dan Downs pointed out that David's put up a page on his website that contains a comprehensive list. Go visit if you were curious where you heard that tune before... (Louis Wu 10:36:34 UTC)

Explosions in the Sky
David Galindo has made a few movies for the Halo community - they've all been received pretty well. He's made a new one... this one's called 'Explosions in the Sky'. This one takes a look at the power of heavy weapons, with some amazing camera work. You can grab it from either bungie.org (QuickTime, 24.5 mb | WMP9, 30 mb) or mythica.org (QuickTime | WMP9). There are a couple of screenshots on the Videos page of David's The Sights of Halo 2 website. (Louis Wu 14:12:04 UTC)

The Halouvre
prometheus opened a new website yesterday - it's unique, in that all it offers is content that glorifies the environmental grandeur of Halo and Halo 2. Inspired by David Galindo's hudless tribute films, he made his own - 'Orbital Shock Trooper Tribute'. You can find a WMP9 version (7.4 mb) on his site (hosted by Mythica) or on files2.bungie.org - and I've put up a QuickTime version (9.2 mb), as well. Grab a copy - and look around the rest of the site! Nice stuff. (Louis Wu 16:50:43 UTC)

The Flood
Last week, David Galindo made a name for himself with three separate videos - one which took you on a tour of some of the prettiest places in Halo 2, a second which looked at your compatriots, the Marines, and a third which showcased the Covenant. He's back with a fourth film - this one looks at the Flood. As usual, fantastic camera angles, nice blending of video and music. It's available in WMP9 format (19.3 mb) from both mythica.org and bungie.org, and QuickTime format (16.3 mb) from mythica.org and bungie.org. Nice work! Update: David's own website is back online, and contains some pretty cool information, including a tutorial on how to make movies like this. Check it out! (Louis Wu 10:58:36 UTC)
