You can't hide...
Hawty McBloggy found a pretty neat little event captured (not so neatly) on video - a grenade is knocked off course by a rocket... and makes a stick around a corner. Ouch!

Pro-tip - don't try to escape in a Banshee
Wow... ANOTHER Plasma Pistol montage? I'm amazed there's enough footage for ONE, let alone two. Change your emblem to Mark of Shame
Hawty McBloggy found a plasma pistol montage - it's all kills with the plasma pistol. No, not an overcharge and then a beatdown/headshot/whatever... but actual kills by being hit with plasma shots. Some of these you have to wonder about - they take him many, many seconds to finish off his opponents, who totally fail at returning the favor. Quality's borderline, but still fun. (You should watch the HQ version at YouTube.)

Another plastic AR
LazerBlader found the True Heroes Plasma Blaster (it's a plastic AR-lookalike; we mentioned it back in September) marketed by a different company (BuzzBeeToys), and on the shelves in K-Mart. (Front - 187k | Back - 182k) Price is a little cheaper than the first iteration - $12.99. He also ran across painted versions for sale on eBay (here, still running, and here, won last week). Assault Rifle Look-Alike
Brandon found a TRUE HEROES Plasma Blaster (1600x1200, 312k) at Toys R Us, for $14.99 - I'd have to agree with him that it looks an AWFUL lot like a Halo-style assault rifle. (For $15 and a little paint, you've got a great cheap prop.) I couldn't find it in TRU's online store - but maybe you can find it in your local brick and mortar establishment! (Louis Wu 16:14:51 UTC)

Halo 3 MythBusters: Episode 2
RandomSauce let us know that his second 'MythBusters' video, a project he does with TURRET BUDDY, is now up on YouTube. As was true last time, there are some pretty interesting tidbits, and watching it might teach you something cool! (It should be noted that not all of the research is accurate; for example, they claim that you cannot stick a plasma and frag grenade together in midair... but there are plenty of vids like this one out there suggesting that's not true.) Go watch - I found the clip showing someone killing a Spartan by FIRING A NEEDLER THROUGH AN ELITE'S NECK to be worth the price of admission. Update: RandomSauce let us know that at least in the video I used as a counterexample, the two grenades merged while one was still in the thrower's hand - changing the rules. If anybody's got an example of a plasma and a frag connecting in mid-air (after both grenades have left their throwers' hands), let us know. Until then, we have no legitimate counterexample for this particular 'bust'! (Louis Wu 16:13:03 UTC)

Jasman Halo 3 Plasma Pistols - a Kotaku Review
Last week, Kotaku posted an 'unboxing' of a set of Jasman Halo 3 Plasma Pistols - a series of photos showing off the goods. They followed it up yesterday with an 'Impressions' article, discussing the actual gameplay, and including a movie. If you're a laser tag afficionado, this seems to be a nice way to fold in your Halo interests, as well. Vash10 started a discussion thread on our forum, if you have comments.

Jasman Toys - getting cheaper?
The Jasman Plasma Pistol laser toy has been out since last fall - but until now, it's been $80 or so per unit, a pretty steep price to pay. According to this new post on The Xbox Collector, though, Jasman is releasing a pair of pistols for $40 - either it's a huge discount, or these are lower quality, or smaller size, or SOMETHING. Today's episode of Another Halo Comic Strip is pretty awesome. The only thing that would have made it better would have been a few plasma grenades blowing MC to Kingdom Come. Because I've always wanted to do that to this particular version of MC. Always.
