Origins, Part 1
Just a reminder (too late, if you're in Australia - sorry): Origins, Part 1 (nearly 11 minutes long) is available for today only on Halo Waypoint, on Xbox LIVE. If you have a Gold account, go watch it! (If you don't, it'll be available for purchase on Blu-Ray and DVD in February.) It tells the story of the Forerunners, and the sacrifice they felt they had to make. (This story is told - albeit more obliquely - in the Halo 3 terminals, as well.) Getting inside a Halo story
If you're a writer, or want to be a writer, or maybe just someone interested in the process of writing, the two authors of one of the more powerful stories in the Halo: Evolutions collection ('The Mona Lisa') wrote up their accounts of how the whole thing went down. Jeff VanderMeer's tale (complete with great pictures) is here, and Tessa Kum's breathless account is here. Both are fascinating. Both have been up for a few months - thanks to Popeck, over at NeoGAF, for pointing them out last night.
