Cake or Death?
Running Gun Studio has released Spriggs Episode 4 - it swings from manic to surreal to just plain daffy. Just over 10 and a half minutes of... weirdness. And high explosives. Go watch! (Louis Wu 20:27:57 UTC) (permalink)
Celebrating 100 Days of Halo 3
Morpheus has decided to celebrate the 100th day of Halo 3 (September 25th was 100 days ago) with 100 things he loves (and hates) about Halo 3. The 50-item Love list is up now - apparently, he's waiting a week for the 50-item Hate list. (Won't it be 57 by then?) (Louis Wu 18:50:44 UTC) (permalink)
Master Chief Paintball Mask Hawty McBloggy found a custom Master Chief paintball mask on eBay - the picture has a bunch of other masks which are cool too, but it's pretty clear which one's for sale. Starting bid is $30 - take a look! (Louis Wu 18:46:39 UTC) (permalink)
Do you want rocket launchers with that?
Bungie wants to know if romance (or other real-life excitement) and Halo have mixed in your life. If you've got a story to tell, swing by their forum! (Louis Wu 17:15:53 UTC) (permalink)
The rule of 3 ZZoMBiE13 has taken a shot at the movie industry in the latest installment of Another Halo Comic Strip. (He wanted me to disclaim this one - make sure that everyone knew it was his opinion, and not mine or bungie.org's, expressed in the comic. I can't say, however, that I don't agree with him, so forget the disclaimer.) (Louis Wu 16:39:55 UTC) (permalink)
TTL Reawakens
XerxdeeJ is back after the holidays, and Tied the Leader has been updated again. Swing by for discussions on sexual orientation and its relationship to online play, a humble thank-you to the crew at Gamertag Radio, and a tantalizing teaser of an upcoming contest you should get ready for. Go read! (Louis Wu 15:16:29 UTC) (permalink)
We like our stupidity organic, thank you. Over at Rampancy.net, OldNick (who works in the game industry) has written a rant that tears into Bungie (and every other game company who scripts unnecessarily) for negating the artificial intelligence of its NPCs with scripting. It turns into a screed against artists, but the basic premise (that dumbing down your characters by forcing them to behave in specific ways when said behavior is detrimental to gameplay) is an interesting argument. Check it out! Thanks, Narcogen. Update: Marty O'Donnell threw in his own two cents to the conversation (and the post by our own Miguel Chavez is worth reading, too). High Tech Halo (not really)
Wow. Cody Miller converted one of the later cutscenes of the game to ASCII video, with 8-bit mono sound. It's amazing you can even tell what's going on... intriguing just for its WTF factor. (Louis Wu 15:08:14 UTC) (permalink)
TXB Readers like Halo 3 Multiplay
TeamXboox has posted their Readers' Choice Awards for 2007. Halo 3 (or Bungie) was up for 4 awards - they went home with just the Multiplayer Game of the Year. Thanks, Halo Planet. (Louis Wu 15:04:55 UTC) (permalink)
I bet the breadcrumbs are really grenades.
preinzi created a gingerbread Blood Gulch base - and provided pictures. Check 'em out - it came out great! (Louis Wu 15:00:07 UTC) (permalink)
Halo: FTW
zugy pointed out a mod for Halo PC that basically reskins every level. Halo: FTW is (mostly) the work of Pepsi and Nessa, and adds shiny new textures to each level of the game. The HaloMods forum post contains a billion screenshots, or you can watch a fly-through movie for more dynamic info. (Louis Wu 14:56:16 UTC) (permalink)
