GCA Nominees Posted
Nominations for the 2007 Game Critics Awards have been posted (thanks, Kotaku) - Halo 3 is up for 'Best Action Game' and 'Best Online Multiplayer Game', and Halo Wars is up for 'Best Strategy Game'. Winners will be announced July 31. Good luck to both games! (Louis Wu 22:45:59 UTC) (permalink)
bug-infused BS
broony noticed that the next episode of the Bungie Podcast is now up - 67 minutes and 60 mb of (presumably) awesome discussion. (I haven't listened to it yet, figuring it was probably good enough that you'd rather hear about it 67 minutes earlier, sans review, than wait.) Go listen! (Louis Wu 22:20:22 UTC) (permalink)
oDinzu Betatage
trigger119 points out oDinzu's Betatage, over at GamingTV - video quality isn't really high, but gameplay's quite good. About 25 mb, in WMP9, QT, or Flash. (Louis Wu 22:08:14 UTC) (permalink)
A Well Oiled Unit.
Stuntmutt was taken with the cover for 'Contact Harvest' - check out today's One One Se7en. (Louis Wu 15:10:29 UTC) (permalink)
This Spartan Life challenges Dems
Chris Burke, of This Spartan Life, is asking the Democratic candidates in the '08 presidential race where they stand on Net Neutrality; you can see a Youtube version of the video in This Spartan Life's 1UP club. It'll be interesting to see if he gets any responses! Thanks, Sgt. Hartsock. (Louis Wu 15:03:04 UTC) (permalink)
The Halo Project Party
Adreniline is putting together a Flash collaboration, set to the Halo 3 E3 trailer. It's not finished yet - but there's some pretty nice work so far! (Louis Wu 14:57:57 UTC) (permalink)
And Cortana in a Tree.
It's nowhere near Christmas - but Nox Invictus has written 'The Twelve Days of Halo' anyway. (Louis Wu 14:56:29 UTC) (permalink)
How do these people get jobs? Wow. There's a pretty astoundingly rude editorial over at Daily Game today - I can't call it news, because it reads more like a forum rant than anything else. I'm actually sort of surprised to see something like this on a big-name gaming site. But you, in turn, must fully understand that online co-op was quite the only feature missing from Halo 2 that we wanted in Halo 3. Well, and an ending. Recorded videos? Optional. Shiny, HDR-lit barrels? Optional. New vehicles and weapons? Optional. Give us online co-op, Bungie. Prove to us that you're not so wrapped-up in your own perceived greatness that you actually listen to your consumers. As one of those consumers, I've got to say that some of those 'optional' features are NOT optional for me - but the difference is, I understand that I speak for me, whereas the author of this piece believes he speaks for the Halo community. (There's nothing wrong with making your wishes known. DEMANDING features in an upcoming game - with an empty threat of brand abandonment behind the demand, and with snide comments about how Bungie's not actually doing anything except eating pizza in their studio - is just plain foolish.)
