The Halo Movie Conundrum There's been a growing problem I've been worried about in the last couple of months, with respect to Halo videos - explaining it is something that would take far too much space for a front-page news post. Besides, I'm looking to start a discussion about the issue, and that's hard to do from here. Therefore, I've posted my (rant? lament?) on the forum - please, take a few minutes and read it... and toss in your two cents. Thanks! (Louis Wu 21:39:35 UTC) (permalink)
Kentucky Tourney Paul Ritter writes to point out a Halo 2 tourney in Covington, KY (just over the river from Cincinnati, OH). Entry is $30/person, they're shooting for 35-50 teams. Competition happens on April 9 - so get on over and register! (Louis Wu 19:46:23 UTC) (permalink)
Die-Cast Hogs Wow, very cool. Looks like Joyride'll be coming out with a die-cast warthog (or three) in the not-too-distant future! (June/July, to be specific.) Thanks to littlebigman for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 19:43:14 UTC) (permalink)
LiL Poison - again Hehe - remember LiL Poison, the youngest pro gamer ever? Well, he's got his own website now. He'll be playing in the MLG Houston event this weekend. Thanks to Victor of Xtournaments ("Dad") for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 15:32:18 UTC) (permalink)
Stubbs the Zombie - in action Wideload is showing off Stubbs the Zombie, their Halo-engine-based offering, at the GDC this year - and they've updated their Stubbs website to reflect this. There are 14 new screenshots and 9 video clips. Thanks to Rampancy.net for the news - and visit their newly-opened Wideload Games Forum to talk about this stuff! (Louis Wu 13:55:12 UTC) (permalink)
Bungie at GDC Keynote J Allard was joined by several Bungie employees during yesterday's GDC keynote speech - Dan Chosich points out an MP3 of the speech at Major Nelson's weblog, and serpx mentions that Gamespot has video (streaming for free, download for Complete members). Dan also transcribed the Bungie comments, if you don't want to download anything. (Louis Wu 13:42:46 UTC) (permalink)
It's all over but the writeup... ...and figuring out who these guys represented. TheLethalSpartan found the four games of the Halo Humpday Challenge, played yesterday between Bungie and... somebody; looks like Bungie won this time around. We'll have to wait for the official article on B.net to get the details, though... (Louis Wu 13:33:38 UTC) (permalink)
Halo 2 - Best Audio, IDGA In February, we mentioned that Halo 2 was up for Best Audio in the 2005 Game Developers Choice Awards. According to Slashdot, they won. Congrats, guys! (Louis Wu 13:27:13 UTC) (permalink)
Give out your email, win Halo 2 Echoes found a Canadian Halo 2 contest - rules are on this page. You must be a resident of Canada and 'the age of majority or older in the province or territory in which [you] reside at the time of entry'. Seems like a marketing ploy, more than anything... but there are free Halo 2 games up for grabs. (Louis Wu 13:12:03 UTC) (permalink)
The Halo 2 Effect The Lexington Herald-Leader has an article today about the power of Halo to bring people together; it focuses on some local players, but the ideas are pretty universal. Give it a read! (Louis Wu 11:46:52 UTC) (permalink)
