Modding is fun
As MCC issues continue, the modders remain a powerful source of new material - there's a video showing off more Halo 4 UNSC weapons with aim-down sights (the Spartan Laser actually seems MORE useful with this - the first weapon I've seen that this is true), a video showing Halo 4 QuickTime Events in 3rd person view (this is just silly), and a Halo 4 Promethean 'horse' (there are no words). Secrets of the Halo 4 Beta
The modding scene continues to churn out interesting Halo content - Lord Zedd has a couple of interesting new vids for you, both focused on the Halo 4 Beta. The first shows off the 'Midnight' menus (which look like reskinned Reach menus), while the second shows a Call-of-Duty-like Remote Missile which was never actually used in multiplayer (though it may have shown up in the Campaign level 'Reclaimer', at the end). MCC Launch Woes Continue
343 is still working on the problems unearthed by the launch of the Master Chief Collection - the long wait times in Matchmaking are already being addressed (though not with 100% success yet), but there are plenty of other broken items. reddit has a formatted list, Kal stopped by our forum with Grifball-specific problems, and sites like Polygon are reconsidering their original scores (thanks, UnrealCh13f). ESL's Halo Launch Invitational
Okay - mastrbiggy and I (and Tex, and Domino Theory, and Voltron, and...) are headed back to Day 2 of the Halo Launch Invitational, kicking off the festivities for the MCC Launch and the Halo Championship Series - yesterday was a fun-filled day of gameplay from legendary names (From Ogre2 to Flamesword and many, many people in between), and today promises to be just as exciting. Last night Believe the Hype and Str8 Rippin were the two teams that advanced without losing - today the remaining 6 teams fight through the Losers Bracket to see who has the right to face one of them in the finals! The latest Halo Bulletin went live last night on Waypoint - it's really worth reading. There's a breakdown of the Skulls available in the package (and how they affect scoring and Achievements), there's a description of the LASO playlists, and there's a summary of the ranking system in the Collection. Additionally, there a recap of the upcoming Halo Championship Series, a new installment of Canon Fodder (we love you, Grim!), and a note about how the Bulletin, in its current form, is disappearing. (It's moving to the Halo Channel, starting next week, and will be in video format from there on out.) Plasma Rifle Replicas by Project Trifroce
Project Triforce listed H2A full scale plasma rifle replicas for pre-order. These seem to be officially endorsed by 343i and they do look quite nice. Halo 4 Assassinations - Up Close and Personal
Gamecheat13 used his moddling skills to show you what Halo 4 assassinations would have looked like in a first-person view (instead of the third-person view we drop into now). These look BRUTAL! (Of course, they're slowed down so you can see this - it would have been pretty tough to tell what was going on at all if 343 had gone this route.) Thanks, gamerguy2002. A Pillar of Bricks
asa stopped by with a link to a video released this summer, after Brickworld 2014 - Lee Jones created a 100+ kg replica of the Pillar of Autumn, complete with realized engines! He declined to mention the total cost of the included LEGOs, but he said it would have paid for a trip to Hawaii for his wife, so... The work involved is astounding, you should go look. Is Theater getting a downgrade?
Team Beyond has gone through the recently uploaded Master Chief Collection manual, and the wording for Theater modes suggests that some functionality that DID exist in Halo 3 (when it launched in 2007) has been removed in the Master Chief Collection. 343 hasn't commented, that we've heard, so it's possible that there's just some misunderstanding going on... but it's also possible that you will not be able to easily create campaign experiences in the MCC. 50 new MCC Achievements in Launch Content
Yesterday, Bravo posted a list of the 50 Achievements (500 gamerscore) being added to the existing 400 Achievements that ship with The Master Chief Collection - I'm guessing some of these will have a very, very, VERY low completion rate. Old egg, new yolk

Project Contingency Update
The last time we mentioned Project Contingency was back in January - this CryEngine 3-based Halo mod was already several months into production, and some of their work had accidentally been leaked, and mistaken for the next Halo title.
