HCEA (Full Campaign and Cutscenes)
The Tyrant sent word of a new video he's uploaded to YouTube... it's 5 hours long. It's the entire Halo Anniversary Campaign, start to finish, including cutscenes. (There is no commentary; it's meant to be a theatrical experience.) Difficulty is set to Normal, because he believes that's what the Human-Covenant war would look like (from the Marine standpoint). Not all UNSCs are the same.
Sometimes, I see something on the internet that makes me wonder about where we're going. Last week, the BBC (the BBC!!) ran a story on the UN Security Council and its response to events in Syria... and whoever was responsible for visuals for the piece accidentally included the United Nations Space Command logo (yes, the one from the Halo universe) to represent the Security Council. MLG vs BTB Game 4
The fourth of the four matches between MLG pros and BTB team Wake Up has now been casted by u4iX and gomollypop - it's a slayer match on Trident. It's really interesting to watch the back-and-forth between raw skill (the MLG guys have a leg up here) and map knowledge (the BTB guys are better at finding power weapons, setting up sneaky sightlines, etc). 'I could make it work'
Rupert Sanders, the guy who made the Halo 3: ODST commercial (and the in-theaters-now Snow White and the Huntsman) did an interview with MTV - in it, Sanders suggests that he could actually make a Halo movie that would be successful... if he were given creative control. Sounds of Halo (Flash! Bang! Remix)
Over at NeoGAF, Sai-kun pointed out a Soundcloud creation that uses Halo sounds to make a song. We've certainly mentioned similar efforts in the past (this post links to a LOT of them, and this one is more recent still), but for the most part, they're percussive. This one integrates some actual soundtrack music into the mix, and the end result is pretty cool!

Charity Auction dishes the Halo goods
Laird stopped by with news of his annual Child's Play auction - as always, it's full of one-of-a-kind Halo goodies (among other things). IW Court Case Spills Some Bungie Beans
Yeah, so last night's big news was the release, in court, of the contract between Activision and Bungie, detailing the original agreement between the companies about Bungie's upcoming title(s). (The document was created in 2010; it's likely several parts have changed by now.) Obligatory Halo tie-in: Activision had the right to cancel the agreement if Reach didn't meet certain sales/quality goals. (It met them.) Non-Halo content is both extensive... and incomplete. (Lots of conclusions have already been drawn by the internet - some of which seem a bit shaky.) We'll wait for a more official announcement before discussing this. More Halo Universe figures revealed
Demoncarnotaur pointed out some new figures in the Halo Universe series coming soon (he found them at HaloFigures.net) - they've been discussed on Halo Waypoint before (the original announcement was here, in January, and some prototypes were shown in February), but this is the first I'm seeing of the Chief's cryotube. The HaloGAF Montage (Reach Edition)
ncsuDuncan took on the task of putting together a montage video made up of clips from HaloGAF members - and last night, the 14 minute monstrosity was released. It is NOT your typical montage - while it certainly has its share of unbelievable gameplay and sniper insanity, it also has hilarious goofing around, fails that will have you in tears, and plenty of GAF in-jokes. BigTeamBattle.net vs MLG Pros
Last night, a bunch of MLG pros (mostly used to playing 4v4 games with MLG rules) joined up and played against the number one-rated BigTeamBattles.net team 'Wake Up' - watching the carnage is fascinating. Carbon's Assault streamed it last night, and you can watch his archived footage starting around 4 hours into this video. The first game (Slayer on Utopie) will show you how the best Banshee flyer in the game, coupled with a team that knows the map inside and out, can DESTROY a team of some of the best shooters in Reach. (It illustrated how important knowledge of the maps can be - and how hard it is to switch between Bloom/No-Bloom settings on the fly.) 343 is remastering the universe
Computer and Video Games has a small look at what 343 is showing us... and what they're continuing to hide. When the small campaign demo shown at a number of events was described by those who played it, some fans expressed unhappiness that we would once again be facing Elites and Grunts; after all, didn't we finish the fight with them? As CVG makes clear, though, this is just 343's way of making us feel comfortable before dumping us into totally new environments. What will we face? Well... we don't know much, yet. Announcement: Halo 3 Done Segmented Project
We got word from NOKYARD that the High Speed Halo crew is kicking off a new community speed run project - Halo 3 Done Segmented. (This has already been done with Halo and Halo 2 - the projects let multiple speedrunners contribute their per-level expertise to a product that shows off some of the faster tricks out there. Because the levels are done individually, the runners don't need to be cautious - if something goes wrong, a re-run isn't the end of the world. What the viewer is left with is pure, unadulterated speed. They're currently looking for both runners and suggestions for runners - swing by the dedicated forum and see what you can add! Life is a Game
NeoGAF's mastrbiggy pointed out a Halo: Reach 'funtage' (with a couple of Halo 3 clips) from Bang Bang TV, a french group - it's not like other montages. It's Halo... through the lens of the other games you grew up with. And it's fantastic. You can turn Closed Captioning on if you really need the translation on the few French words shown in the video... or you can just sit back and watch. It's 14 minutes long, and I, like many others, said "I'm not watching the whole thing!" at the start... only to watch the whole thing. It's great.

Yeah... there's definitely a skill gap.
This seems to be the thing, now. Mikwin, playing with Classic, leads a suicide start, and plays an MLG Slayer match in standard Matchmaking against a team of randoms - the pro players kill themselves until the score is 18 to -58, a 76-kill spread. Six minutes later, they've climbed out of the hole and won the game, 50-41 (outscoring their opponents 108-23 in that final stretch). You can see the full game stats here. (The DMR Killtastrophe about 3:30 in cleansed the palate nicely.) Mostly Reach, but older games appear here and there.

Grab your ankles...
Wow. Team Carbon didn't feel like they had enough of a challenge in standard matchmaking... so when this game started up, they continually committed suicide until they were down 57 kills (17 to -40; the other team got credit for a bunch of their deaths, by getting a shot or two in before they died). Goodies from Bungie
So being gone last week meant that Bungie's website didn't get the love it normally does from me - and there's been quite a bit of new content recently.
- The Bungie Forum Tryhards had a ridealong last Thursday - DeeJ got a chance to play some Reach matchmaking with folks who consider it their calling to help others get better at the game.
- A new Mail Sack went live on Friday - there are weird questions and even weirder answers. Those people are ODD.
- The latest Breaking In went live last night - Darren Bacon is a Senior Concept Artist who likes cars and t-shirts. I mean, really - what else is there?
- Over on YouTube, Bungie posted Behind the Scenes: Making of Halo 2, the documentary that could previously be found bundled with the Limited Edition version of Halo 2. If you haven't seen this, it's absolutely worth the hour or so. (And hey - I'm in it!)
