Articles: Product Reviews: CarnageStats

Product website: www.carnagestats.com

Product offers (as said by website itself):

  • online data hosting to store your logged games
  • 30 minute autoStats (auto updates)
  • the most robust stat viewing tools available anywhere
  • intuitive, ad free interface
  • and many more "killer" features to come!

I actually met the creators of carnage stats at a tournament hosted by www.nkyhalo.com, and they were pretty cool guys. I even got to see Keldog's awesome Halo 2 tattoo that won him the "Halo Freak" contest. I played a game with them, and while they weren't that good (I was ahead of the rest of my team's score by at least 10 at any given time), we still had a good time playing halo.

That said, www.carnagestats.com is a great tool made by great people. There are a lot of stat trackers out there that are easily downloadable to your computer, and a few online ones that are free, but none of them are as comprehensive as carnage stats. You can check individual gametypes to see your win percentage. It doesn't get more detailed than that.

You can get a lot of carnage stats stuff for free, but it only records your games for a limited amount of time. You have to pay a small fee to get "subscriber" status, but when you get that, it keeps you subscribed for a whole year. That's one of those "good deals" you hear about. I used to use various other stat trackers, but none were as reliable as carnage stats. I can access carnage stats from any computer, log in, and see how I'm doing. Two of the best stat trackers I used to use are now no longer in use; that won't happen with carnage stats, since they are a legitimate business about this. Hell, even Breaking Benjamin uses it.

The reason I think this is an important tool is that it helps you learn your weaknesses. It shows how many wins/losses you have on each game category, gametype, and map. When I looked at it and realized that my Ascension win % on just about every gametype was extraordinarily low, I started working on it. It won't make you a pro by any means, but it will let you know how much you are improving, what your strengths are, what your weaknesses are, and how close you are to gaining a level.

It might not seem much right now, since you are jumping into it headfirst with all those games that you've goofed off in and been the victim of cheating now (and considering those stats to be legit is silly), but since Bungie is resetting stats soon, now is about time to start checking out carnagestats.com and seriously considering a subscription.
