Interviews

IGS Ghandi

[Personal Questions]

To start off the interview, tell me a bit about yourself. What do you like to do, how old your are, what are your hobbies, etc.

I like to play sports. This year I'm trying out for the lacrosse team and hopefully I'll make it. I'm 15 years old, I like to party with all my friends, play video games and just simply have fun.

What was the first video game you really got into?

The first video game I started to play was Goldeneye. I was 8 or 9 at the time and I was just really addicted.

How much time do you spend playing halo 2?

When my teams not on I'll probably play about 2-4 hours a day depending on many good people are on that i can play with. But when my teams on we try to get a solid 3-6 hours of practice in so we can be on top of our game.

Do you play any other video games? (elaborate especially on this if possible)

I dont really play any other video games besides Halo2. I really want to play World of Warcraft but only one person on a team can play that game and SERGIO beat me to it.

Out of all the players you've met, who do you think is the best halo 2 player in the world?

Shockwave in my mind is the best halo2 player. He can just do everything, he's just so amazing at this game it blows my mind.

There are lots of gamers out there that take Halo seriously, most of them being up at the top. But whenever I've seen you play, you are always joking, laughing, and having a good time. You actually made a reference to pokemon during Nasvhille's FFA semi-finals by saying "Check it out. Ash Ketchum." and putting your hat on backwards, and didn't look at the screen until the game started. Why are you so relaxed and easy going while everyone else seems to be so tense?

Well I guess its just my personailty that makes me so relaxed ingame. I just have to have a certain amount of fun during game in order to do good. If i get embarrassed like if I peashooter a guy and he gets away I just turn to sergio and I'm like "I'm not good" haha.

What does your family think about all of your publicity and halo playing?

My family really likes me playin this game because its pretty much my job. I earn money every tournamentm large amounts of money that equal a little more then I'd be getting at a normal 15 year olds job.

[Halo specific questions]

How did you get so good at Halo?

The only reason I'm any good at this game is because my brother and his friend Chris taught me how to shoot and snipe when I was around 12. They taught me what to look and what to expect and I just took that to the next level as I gamed more and more.

If someone wanted to get better at Halo, what advice would you give them?

The best advice to get better is actually to watch VOD. It helps you out so much. I've corrected so many mistakes i've made in previous tournaments just because of VOD.

What is your favorite map?

Lockout

What is your favorite weapon?

Sniper

What is your favorite gametype, and how do you go about winning it?

Neutral Bomb on Midship, it's all just teamwork, getting organized and shooting across the map. When you can't plant it gets very boring but when their teams on spawn and you have a sword in your hands and your teammate calls out their position and you run towards them to protect the bomb guy the feeling the games in your hands is just amazing.

Have you ever played in any major tournaments? If so, how did they go?

I've played in every major tournament besides MLG(san fran),VGL,CPL(age limit), and I've been to the rest. MLG Dc we placed 5th/6th(VGA LEGENDZ)(Me Defy Vash Mack) as a team and I had gotten top 32 in the FFA. MLG houston we got 4th place as a team LEGENDZ(Me Defy Vash Tsquared)and I got 3rd in the FFA, AGP 7 1st tournament I went to as IGS. We took 2nd as a team(me vash defy mcgavin) and I got 2nd FFA. MLG Orlando we got 2nd place TEAM IGS(Me shockwave mcgavin vash) and I got top 32 FFA. Then St.Louis we got 2nd place with sergio replacing Vash and I got top 16 FFA. MLG LAS VEGAS we got 2nd place again and i got out 2nd round ffa(NO CLUE HOW), Then MLG NASHVILLE I won my first tournament and took 4th place in FFA(tryin to redeem myself from the 2nd round knockout).

What do you plan to do with your gaming career in the future?

I hope Gaming gets big so i can keep being on top and winning good amounts of money just having fun.

Thanx for interviewing, I'll talk to you later. Scott aka IGS Gandhi
