All watched as the trademark vaporous contours of smoke started to clear, slowly but surely it parted in the center and everyone cheered at the sight of a Hunter with an astonishingly large crack in its abdomen.
Orange blood spewed forth like air to the bellows of a trained blacksmith.
My team of marines came in through the Hanger opening, walking around the massive form of that very same Hunter.

Carlos followed suit, two RLs on his back and an MA6B hanging from each shoulder via toughened straps. He accidentally tripped on the massive metallic brute and walked over to us.

I grabbed a rocket launcher and shoved a missile in. Jake 098, not to be confused with a marine, grabbed the other one and he too, "shoved a rocket in." Everyone's attention was on something else, we all thought the hunter was dead.
How wrong we were.

From unseen hands a mini-plasma rocket streaked by Carlos' head. I spun around roughly 180 degrees and took a gander as the Hunter lifted itself up, each of my squad mates turned, assessing the problem for themselves.

"Carlos, why did you step on him?" Shrieked Kirsten, slapping him over the head.
He rubbed his make believe wound, simultaneously leveling his rocket launcher.

"No!" I shouted menacingly.
He looked over at me and fired off two of the deadly projectiles.
"Sorry."

I looked towards the Hunter just in time to see him explode, a rocket had hit the opening of its fuel rod cannon, which had caused a chain-reaction throughout its body, literally killing it from the inside out.
Marines cheered and ran through the hanger doors, into the hallways and onto the
Battlefield, recognizing a group of Covenant forces they hadn't been found earlier.
The alien bastards fell quickly at the hands of the combined new force.
They'd relied on their new weapon too much.
A few marines had managed to get shot in the chest or side, but the wounds usually weren't serious.

"Well, of course I planned that." answered Jake 098, who was talking to a few snipers who had been in the hanger when the rockets had taken flight. He had always been trying to get the girls, but had never succeeded but he had his chance right now to get at least one.
I watched as he took a woman by the arm.
Her body was not unattractive, complete with black hair, dark skin, and deep, intense blue eyes. Basically his dream, or, if not, pretty damn close it.

"Good choice" I said to myself.
He waved at me as he strode down the hall towards the bunkers, smiling with a look of delight and an aura of happiness.

I shook my head.
Lucky guy, just because of some cocky bravado he got the girl, this just wasn't my day.
I moved across the hanger, making sure that I averted my gaze from anyone curious enough to look my way, since eye contact would likely encourage someone to fall in step beside me and shout stupid things like "Hey, your friend is really something isn't he?" I'd probably reply with the words "Yeah, sure is." Not really giving a damn whether or not they cared.
