There was a big uproar from the other marines, yet the Spartan didn't say anything. While I explained it the grunt slinked off to the edge of camp. At first I was going to yell to get back here but decided not to. I yelled to the others, "Don't do a thing to him. I gave my word and he better not be hurt." The others were about to respond when the Spartan stood up and seemed to glare at them. No one wanted to argue with a 7 foot tall guy. The grunt walked over to me. We almost finished setting up camp when the shriek of a banshee was heard. My grunt buddy, I still didn't know his name, told me fire at the pilot. I decided to go ahead with it. After I fired we saw a banshee coming on a crash course, but it didn't have its engines on. Once it crashed our grunt was next to it dragging an elite with a bullet in its neck out of the cockpit.

He then explained, "When that guy," he meant me, "shot at the banshee it hit its main external sensor blinding the pilot." Over the radio there was a distress call from another pelican that crash landed a few hundred meters away from us.

"Alright two men to the tank, three to the warthog. The rest of you drag that banshee over here." I wasn't one of the men who left towards the other pelican so I started talking to the grunt.

"Hey, my name's Ishkabibbl but if that's too long just call me Ish."

The grunt looked up and replied, "Hey Ish, my name's Hecmotroy. You might just want to call me Hec." I nodded and asked him about the banshee and how he knew when and where to shoot. As it turns out he's a mechanic and we talked for the rest of the day and since I had first watch Hec hung around talking yet still alert. Near the end of our watch we heard some noise so I scoped it out and sent Hec to wake the others. It was only our returning troops but the sound was our customized tank dragging their pelican to our camp. All of us were armed and ready for trouble. Once everyone understood what it was most of the people went to sleep. I helped find a good spot for the pelican and it was dragged to the center of our camp. Once it settled about 10 engineers got out and looked around.

One of them asked, "Is this your camp?"
Then it seemed as if a light bulb went on over Hec's head. "Hey Ish, there's an abandoned base sort of nearby with leftover equipment. There might be some shades or something to help fight off other covenant." I loved this idea and ran straight to the sergeant and told him about Hec's idea. He agreed we needed the supplies so I was given command of the warthog. Mark decided he would come with us as the gunner while I drove with Hec in the passenger seat giving directions.

We reached the covenant base an hour later and found a bountiful supply of weapons. "Hey why don't we just use this base? It's already set-up with weapons and it wouldn't be too hard to fly all our supplies here."

Hec nodded his head, "That's a good idea I believe the power controls are in that room. Hmm the radio room should be there. And that's the armory." He pointed to three different rooms.

"Hey Hec you get the power running, Mark you get to the armory and do a quick inventory of weapons, also check for some vehicles. I'll make radio contact and tell the others to come." We all moved out to do our jobs. Before I could even get to the radio room the power was on. After a few tries I figured out how to contact HQ.

"Hey Sergeant it would be easier to hold this covenant base here then in the middle of a forest. You might want to air lift everything and everyone down here so we can set-up better defenses."

Instead of the sergeant speaking the Spartan came on. "Sounds like a good idea. We'll be there in about 15 minutes." Before I broke contact Hec asked me to ask for the banshee to be brought with everything else. Once we were done we walked to the armory to find Mark drooling at the almost endless supply of covenant weapons. I followed Hec to a side room which was actually the base's hanger.

"Hey Mark quit drooling and make a count of weapons. Hec would you give me inventory of the base's defenses and its assets?" Hec merely nodded and went to do his job. I walked outside to watch the approach of the drop ships with the tank on our pelican and the banshee on the other. As soon as he was out, Wolf told us that Wolf he was now the commander of all the units. We nodded and followed Hec to the briefing room.
Sergeant Wolf walked in, "Ish, good work on your mission. As we speak the techs are resetting up fortifications and hacking those shades to fire on all the covenant, except for our new ally here. Good the inventories are being displayed. So let's see:

60 plasma rifles, 80 plasma pistols, 400 plasma grenades, 15 energy swords, 15 cloaking devices, 50 shades, 30 AA plasma turrets, 10 mortar tanks, 35 ghosts, 6 drop ships, 21 banshees, and now for human inventory:
1 Scorpion tank (customized), 2 pelicans (one customized), 15 assault rifles (165 clips), 3 shotguns (200 bullets), two sniper rifles (47 clips), 90 fragmentation grenades, 5 Jackhammers (300 Rockets), 30 M9D pistols(100 clips), and massive amount of scrap metal."

I was thinking wow that's a whole freaking lot of ammo, when Hec asked something, "May I customize the banshee that was brought along here?" The Commander didn't really care so Hec spent the next few weeks working on it.
