IGN Rewind: Halo 4 First Look

Halo Custom Edition - CMT SPv3 Mod Release
Teh Lag wrote to let us know that the Halo CE modding team CMT has released the first installment of their new Halo 1 campaign mod for the map The Truth & Reconciliation. Bonus Round 601 - Halo 4 Speculation

Fan Film gets its own Fan Trailer
HavokSage has put together a fan trailer for a live-action fan film - this is getting too meta for me! Halo: Helljumper is a fan film whose first episode is due out next week - HavokSage is not part of their team, but likes their work. He created a trailer for the project using footage from official pieces (Halo: Landfall, the ODST trailer, etc) and his own voiceover. Interesting! Check it out. (Louis Wu 21:16:42 UTC)

Holy Trailer Recreation, Batman!
Don't worry, despite Wu's only headlines from yesterday reading "Quitting Halo" and "No Help", I have convinced him to stay around for a bit and use my sometimes-versatile vernacular as a creative crutch whenever he needs. On that note, over the holiday break, HBO participant JIMBOTHY had yet another capital idea and decided to recreate the recent Dark Knight Rises trailer in Halo: Reach machinima-style. The result is awesome; you should definitely check it out! Update: you can now watch a comparison video showing both the original and the machinima version side by side. There and Back Again
At PAX Prime, back in August, 343 Industries showed off a concept art trailer for Halo 4 that ended with a sequence that was hard to see - but fans immediately separated it out into its component frames and compiled it into a coherent image. And that's where things stood... until Leviathan pointed out a YouTube vid he just stumbled across that makes a pretty good case for where the teaser image might have come from. The only problem... the source seems to be some fan art HE (Leviathan) created! (And back in February, to boot!) I'm sure the teaser image will turn out to be something completely different - but it's pretty amusing, all the same. (Louis Wu 15:11:27 UTC)

Ogan Panavo sent us links to two new vids: Arby 'n' the Chief have a new episode of Hypermail (both characters take abuse from the fans, but respond differently), and a trailer for Dance Central: Halo has hit YouTube (it was originally an April Fools joke from 1UP). Halo 2 Pop Fiction
SIX min WHISTLE stopped in with word of a recent episode of GameTrailers' Pop Fiction (a show that looks at myths and urban legends about games) - Episode 17 looks at two legends from Halo 2, the Golden Warthog and the Scarab Gun. Feet First Into Awesome
Something that has gotten regrettably lost in the news shuffle these past few days is the recent release of the new trailer for the upcoming fan film, "Helljumper". The trailer features both awesome effects and some very cool music, and is more than worth your time to check out. HALO: Eye of the Storm
We got a note from Philip Kang about a Halo 3-based machinima he's just released. It's nearly 23 minutes long, and it uses the campaign level 'The Storm' to tell a poignant story. Imagine the level, presented as a meticulously-filmed cinematic experience - you'd end up with this. Kang did all the work himself (except the voicework and titles), and put in hundreds of hours over the past two years - the end result is spectacular. (When you watch this, think about how much filming needs to be done to get AI-controlled behavior that matches the shot you need.) If you want to see what you're getting into, there's a short (2:16) trailer to give you a taste. Sometimes the dedication of Halo fans blows me away. (Louis Wu 16:30:49 UTC)

Anniversary Collector's Pack, Down Under
According to In Entertainment (a UK website), the Australian EB Games will be offering a 'Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Collector's Pack' - for $88 (Australian - about $91 US), you get Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, and an NKOK RC Warthog. Gametrailers has kicked off their Halo Anniversary coverage - uberfoop was the first to let us know about the Anniversary Trailer, released yesterday (already on YouTube), and ZZoMBiE13 forwarded links for their 'Ultimate Fan' contest and the first video in their Retrospective series (which actually starts much earlier than Halo).
