Post-production is important.
Edge Magazine (via Next Generation) has a great interview with Marty O'Donnell - for an old guy, he's pretty wise.
As an artist, the more you do customer surveys, or do focus testing, the more you will completely lose focus on what it is that caused you to be a creative person in the first place. It's just something I like to remind the guys all the time: stop looking at what everyone else is doing. We should just be creating what we're creating.

Terminal Wallpapers
Capt Spanish has been working quite a bit on Terminal graphics; he's created a bunch of custom-made images that took their inspiration from Halo 3's terminals, but have his own touches. Custom-painted Legendary Helmet
Very cool. BARBARIC_RAGE found a truly Legendary Edition of Halo 3; it's just like the one you can buy at the store (has sealed game disc/sealed Essentials discs/original packaging)... except that the helmet is custom-painted and battle-scarred. Really nice paint job, too. The eBay Auction ends in about 3 and a half days... figure out what you're willing so spend on this and get to bidding! (Louis Wu 17:04:20 UTC)

Custom action figure - with a twist
Hawty "I'll get back on top of the eBay pile, you know I will" McBloggy found a guy selling a custom Spartan action figure on eBay. What makes this one unique? Well, it's a model of "'MASTER CHIEF' from the hit PlayStation 3 game 'HALO'" (the seller's words, not Hawty's). Beyond that silliness, though, it's actually a pretty cool piece - the base has a dead marine and a brute (both custom), and it comes with a bunch of swappable guns. You've got until November 2 - go look!

Stats Reloaded: Custom Leaderboards
Z pointed out that Stats Reloaded has introduced a new feature - custom leaderboards. You can create your own leaderboard (sign up your clan, for example, or your website community) - and your own scoring method. To show you an example, he pointed out a custom leaderboard someone's created, which contains (scroll down a little) the algorithm used to calculate positions. It's interesting to see how the position within this leaderboard compares to the overall SR leaderboard position (shown in the last column). Go try it out!

Custom Game Finder Opens
Sam told us about H3 Customs, billed as the First Halo 3 Custom Game Search. Bungie talked about public custom games at one point, but it didn't make the final cut of Halo 3 - now some fans are stepping up to help. If you add a game to the list, you still have to have enough room on your Friends List to accomodate the people who find you this way... but it's better than not having anything! There's a reason some call it a 'HaloBox'.
Heh - there's a story in the Rider News about the popularity of Halo 3; a Gamestop employee describes a customer trading in a Wii to buy Halo and a 360.
"He spent $430 just to play one game," Taylor said. "I guarantee that didn't happen in any other store except ours."

Another Custom Made Action Figure
So there's clearly a market for custom-made action figures; we mentioned a sculpted one last week that still has 2 days to go - current bid is nearly at $2000. BARBARIC RAGE found ANOTHER one - this one (which is male) just went up, and still has nearly a week - but it's a pretty impressive piece of work, and I'm guessing it'll end up going for a LOT. Custom Female Spartan Statue
Wow. Joseph Ryan pointed us to this one-of-a-kind hand-sculpted Halo statue on eBay; polymer clay, almost 12 inches to the top of the sniper rifle. 10% of the sale price goes to the American Breast Cancer Foundation. Opening bid is $200, you've got just under a week.

Halo 3 Emblem List
Psychophan7 has put together a page containing all the Halo 3 player emblems, so that you can begin choosing your Spartan customization. simpsonsrule thought this was pretty cool, and sent us a link. He's right, it's pretty cool, but the HTML page contains 80 separate images, and weighs in at nearly half a meg total, so rather than drain Psycho's host's bandwidth, I've saved the resultant page as a single image (600x1920, 136k). Custom Spartan on eBay
Joerhyno wrote with some news about an auction a friend has set up. It's a custom figure - he started with a mini figure that was enlarged with Hydrospan, then cast in resin and cut up to fit on a Microman body, and painted. A lot of work! Current bid is $50, with a week to go. (Joe also pointed out this thread on the Spawn forum - some great pics, including two from him, using Joyride figures, down near the bottom. Norway enters the 'break the street date' club

Lego Minifigs on eBay
Fragclone noticed a couple of Lego custom minifigures on eBay right now - an ODST Helljumper and Sgt. Johnson in his dress whites. They're pretty cool, though they DO seem to be pretty expensive for minifigures. (Louis Wu 20:00:35 UTC)
