Hawty McBloggy ran across a fantastic-looking Jackal mask that was in the works for this year's Halloween festivities. (No word on whether it actually got finished in time - this was a work-in-progress pic from early September.) The creator, DeviantART's randomflyingpigeons, is no stranger to Halo-themed Halloween costumes - she went as a Grunt in 2005, and then again in 2008 (and MAN did she get better over those three years!). She does commissions - you might want to start thinking about next year! (Louis Wu 14:50:51 UTC)
November 17, 2009 Link to this post The Spirit of Radio Paste Magazine has taken a look at Sadie's Story, and compared it to radio dramas of the past. It's a great take on a wonderful sidepiece of the Halo 3: ODST experience - give it a read! Thanks, Anton P. Nym. (Louis Wu 18:06:44 UTC)
November 17, 2009 Link to this post Bungie Pro Video Update
A long-promised upgrade to Bungie Pro's rendering service has been the ability to grab just a piece of a longer Halo 3: ODST Campaign video, by specifying start and end timestamps - that upgrade is here now. Go visit, and see what it takes - and get to rendering that cool clip that happened in the middle of a 90 minute game! (Louis Wu 14:28:22 UTC)
November 17, 2009 Link to this post I'm on a zebra!
Yesterday, a new Tag and Release feature went live at Bungie.net - screenshots showing off the specialness of Last Exit is what they were looking for. Were they successful? You decide. (You can find your OWN cool Last Exit shots by looking through the Community Files section.) (Louis Wu 14:27:41 UTC)
November 16, 2009 Link to this post Waypoint Goodies
Halo Waypoint has their new schedule up for the week - they're going to be spending a significant chunk of time on Halo Evolutions (the short story collection coming out later this month). There are two 7-minute videos up right now - interviews with Kevin Grace, Eric Nylund, Frank O'Connor, and Jonathan Goff, in which the authors discuss the pieces they wrote, and how the anthology came together in the first place. If you haven't been visiting Waypoint every day, there's been plenty of fun stuff posted recently; yesterday, a bit on the Uplift Reserve went live, giving you some backstory to an area you played through in ODST, and today, a preview of 'The Duel', the next episode of Halo Legends to be shown, went up. Go explore! (There are threads started about the Uplift piece and to the Duel preview on our forum, if you want to discuss them.) (Louis Wu 13:45:39 UTC)

The Bungie Weekly Update is live - it's pretty short, but there's some nice info in there. (As always, it's also in our Weekly Update Archive.) (Louis Wu 00:55:15 UTC)

November 11, 2009 Link to this post Wednesday's Comm Chatter
Bungie's community feed offers you the following tidbits today: - 'Beauty of Halo' is a Scenery Screenshot Montage put together by several community groups - pretty pics.
- 'Whatever' is a tritage (every time I hear 'tage' now, I think of Pure Pwnage's Taji) - Axilo, Magix, and Mick put some of their best clips together to give you a 7 minute montage. (It's totally silent because the audiotrack contained unauthorized music.)
- The Community Spotlight is being shined on Aberrant Designs - go read about who they are, then check out Bungie Favorites for some of their choicest files.
- It's been a long time coming - but you can finally buy extra Bungie Pro Render Minutes. What does this mean? It means you can finally render that 30-minute monster custom game you've been holding on to... Minutes are ten cents apiece - no discount for bulk.
Go watch, go read, go buy! (Louis Wu 20:15:33 UTC)
November 10, 2009 Link to this post The natives are getting restless Fans are getting loud - I guess they want to be heard. A couple of days ago, Hawaiian Pig kicked off a large thread on our forum, asking how many people were still playing Halo 3: ODST? Various arms of the thread debated the replayability of the game, the weaknesses of certain choices Bungie made, or the unreasonableness of the fanbase. Lots of different opinions. (Over on NeoGAF, GhaleonEB wrote up his own thoughts about the game; they're a fascinating read. He put some real time into thinking about WHY he felt certain ways about things... it's interesting to see a seriously pro-Bungie Halo fan explain why a Bungie-created Halo product disappointed him. There are several followups to his post that are worth reading; hit the 'thread' link at the top to see it in context.) This is clearly important to a lot of people; last night, Cody Miller started up a thread he called 'Tips for Reach'; it's full of suggestions he'd like to see in Bungie's next game. What's really interesting is how fast that thread has grown, and how many different opinions have been expressed in that short time. (It's likely that it's WAY too late for a lot of the suggestions that have popped up there; Reach will be going gold sometime next summer, so most of the basic design decisions are probably pretty fixed at this point. The passion of the fans, though, and the strength with which they're expressing their opinions, is remarkable.) (Louis Wu 15:34:48 UTC)
November 9, 2009 Link to this post Waypoint content grows Halo Waypoint continues to churn out new content - today a video interview with Frank O'Connor went live, explaining how he found himself in his current position as 'King of Halo' (I made that up). The rest of the week will see a new PSA from Red vs Blue, a collection of Screenshots, a strategy piece explaining your enemies in ODST, a Behind the Scenes video of the making of 'The Babysitter', and more! It's free for all Gold and Silver LIVE members right now; there's no better time to check it out! (Louis Wu 17:38:10 UTC)

November 8, 2009 Link to this post Halo: FTW 2 Back in January, 2008, we mentioned a mod for Halo PC called 'Halo FTW' - Pepsi and Nessa were adding lots of shiny new textures to the game. The original screenshots and the fly-through movie are long gone - but they're working on releasing FTW 2, a remade version of the mod. If you swing by this thread at ModHalo, you'll find pages of new videos and screenshots (this shot is pretty impressive, though it takes quite a while to load - not surprising, given that it's 11.5 mb). You can also find most of the videos at Pepsi's YouTube channel. Congrats to Pepsi, Nessa, Tucker933, DeadHamster, and Kvasir - this stuff looks pretty good! (Louis Wu 15:52:40 UTC)
