A Day in the Life of Dressing Master Chief
Ross Mills let us know about an article on Artem.com (the folks who created the Master Chief armor that was used in several European launch events) discussing the work that went into getting that armor on the Chief each day. Nice pics! (Louis Wu 19:12:01 UTC)

Artem - the company behind the Halo 4 Suit
Artem is a company that makes special effects stuff - they were hired to create a Halo 4 of armor that could be worn for launch events (including the Lichtenstein weekend). They'd documented the process last month (both in text and with a behind-the-scenes video) - but we didn't hear about it until Ross Mills stopped by with links (apparently, he's got a mate who works for Artem). Great stuff! (Louis Wu 14:28:04 UTC)

It's not always as deep as it looks
Heh - Ross Mills noticed a pretty funny Tweet last night. I grinned. (Louis Wu 13:20:19 UTC)

I need a washcloth.
Ross Mills noticed a new set of Halo-themed soaps from Digitalsoaps (we mentioned them back in 2009) - I love the design, but I'm not sure I want to smell like carbonated corn syrup. (The original link was via Sprite Stitch.) (Louis Wu 15:08:44 UTC)

I'd play that.
Heh - oops. (While I don't have official confirmation at this point, I'd bet good money that Halo CE Anniversary will NOT be coming out on the Nintendo 3DS platform.) Thanks, Willeth (via Ross Mills). (Louis Wu 14:34:17 UTC)

The Real SPNKr Halo Rocket Launcher
Not sure how this went undiscovered for so long, but Ross Mills uncovered a fun-filled video. There seems to be no end to the innovation and tenacity of the Halo community. (Cybrfrk 16:40:47 UTC)

Eclipse Phase absorbs a familiar character
Ross Mills pointed out that a sample character in Eclipse Phase (a recent pen & paper RPG) is a pretty close match for Cortana. You can see a couple of sizes of the image in question in this post. (Louis Wu 20:30:37 UTC)

I Love Bees Scouting Notes
Folks who love the details behind a project are gonna love this tidbit from Wonderland - one of the people responsible for finding public phones for use in the I Love Bees ARG has passed along the original scouting notes she wrote up to Cory Doctorow, for a new publishing project. Fun! Thanks, Ross "I think I'm up to 136 now" Mills. (Louis Wu 20:33:23 UTC)

I think I'd rather play with regular toys.
Ross Mills pointed out a Kotaku article discussing a rip-off product called 'Halo Wars Clay' - the idea is that you get a chunk of 'clay' and it's your job to excavate what's inside. In this case... what's inside is a bunch of World War 2 figures. How this relates to Halo Wars, I have NO idea. (There's a Malaysian flag in there, too.) (Louis Wu 14:45:28 UTC)

Designing Games that Don't Suck
Ross Mills found an article at Gamasutra discussing game design, and how choices made by developers can affect how players interact with the game. There's an example that seems to be based on Halo. It's an interesting read! (Louis Wu 19:45:07 UTC)

Halo Wars - A Biased Perspective
Halo Wars has been out for a while, and we've stopped posting news about reviews of the game (we are halo.bungie.org, after all) - but we received word from Ross Mills that he'd written up some commentary about the game from the perspective of a long-time Halo fan (he's been around here for many years), so we're letting you know. Go see what he thought! (Louis Wu 17:38:42 UTC)

A found Halo artist
Ross Mills ran across an artist at a Convention who does a lot of Halo work - check out his DeviantART site! (Halo stuff is here.) (Louis Wu 23:28:39 UTC)

Halo on Canvas - if you're in the UK
Ross Mills ran across some Halo artwork for sale on Amazon (UK-only) - he found a Halo 3 piece, and a Halo Wars piece. There doesn't seem to be any search that narrows down ONLY to Halo pieces - but this search will show you 33 images, 15 of which are Halo-related. It's unclear whether these are authorized by MS or not. Update: According to SketchFactor (who checked with Microsoft), this company is not licensed to sell these prints; if that sort of thing matters to you, you should probably avoid buying from them. Gorgeous Gaming Artwork for Charity
Ross Mills pointed out a thread on the Penny Arcade forums showing off a collection of artwork painted by a woman raising money for Oxfam Unwrapped - she was taking requests until recently (the queue got too long, so she froze it), but the existing collection is pretty amazing to look at. Obligatory Halo 3 content: an overview of Avalanche. (Local copy, on the off chance that we kill the imageshack link.) Keep an eye on the thread, in case she unfreezes the queue! Ultra Kill? Really?
Ross Mills noticed an article at Maxim entitled 'The 7 Greatest Faceless Announcers in Video Games' - Halo's Voice of God renderer makes the list. Some of the 'memorable lines' attributed to him, though, might make you wonder. (Louis Wu 13:30:39 UTC)

Halo ActionClix is all done.
Ouch - WizKids, the company behind Halo ActionClix (among other products, but that's the Halo-related one), is closing its doors; its parent company, Topps, has decided to move away, somewhat, from gaming - though they plan to support some HeroClix events already scheduled. Read Kotaku's story for more details. Thanks, Ross Mills. (Louis Wu 18:50:29 UTC)

The Digital Content Crisis
Marty O'Donnell talked to Joystiq recently about the issue of used video game sales. (It's not the first time he's spoken out about this.) The thread on our forum kicked off by Ross Mills has drawn a lot of comments, from fans, from Bungie/Ex-Bungie employees, from Marty himself. Is the solution digital sales? Do you really want to hold the content you buy in your hands? Where do you stand? (Louis Wu 16:28:29 UTC)

More Halo Goodies in the Fable II LCE
What the... Ross Mills pointed out an article at Kotaku that details the contents of the Fable II Limited Collector's Edition - and among the stuff you'd EXPECT in a fantasy game, there's a listing for "Spartan armor and energy sword". Now, we already knew about the Spartan armor - but there's an energy sword, too? Wonga. (Louis Wu 14:10:44 UTC)

Halo Art - it's in your local record shop
Ross "I'm going to beat c0ld vengeance at the news game" Mills pointed out a couple of nice Halo art pieces - Kotaku ran a shot of a store display from a record shop near one of the editors - it's a hand-inked piece by a local artist who also did this. Nice work! (Louis Wu 14:01:38 UTC)

Game developers need to eat, too
Ross "new Bungie teasers always make me hot" Mills has been scouring the web for Halo news; he found an interesting piece at gamesindustry.biz in which Bungie's Marty O'Donnell discusses the negative effect that the pre-owned games market has on games development. He acknowledges that it's hard to gripe when your game (say, Halo 3) sells millions of copies - but for smaller studios, the loss of revenue to the pre-owned market can mean the difference between success and failure. He hopes that alternative delivery methods can be developed that benefit everyone (well, he's not too worried about the middle man). (Louis Wu 13:57:21 UTC)

Needs Moar Boost
Ross Mills noticed a writeup of a very cool entry into this year's Red Bull Derby, over at Kotaku - even though it doesn't move very well, I'd still LOVE to have that Ghost! (Louis Wu 14:17:21 UTC)

Halo: The Board Game (in video)

Games for Windows LIVE - now free
Ross Mills noticed a story on Joystiq explaining that Microsoft has just made the Games For Windows Live service free (it used to be $50/year, just like Xbox LIVE). This means you can play Halo 2 PC online for nada. w00t! (Louis Wu 21:50:51 UTC)
