That's just... that's... hmm.
Nick Singer (check our news archives if the name's not familiar - lots of cool music!) sent word of a tidbit he posted on Reddit. A piece of 'medical artwork', part of the Welcome Collection, it will almost certainly remind you of something Halo-related. (After reading about the Collection, I want to go!) The Lost Spartan
Nicholas Singer (search our news archives if the name's not familiar) has been making music for a project you'll be hearing more about going forward - but one piece he has been playing with recently didn't fit the needs of that project, so he's releasing it as a standalone. The Lost Spartan (3.2 mb) is a reimagining of The Lost Muse, a song that played during the level 'Attack on the Control Room' in Halo, but never made it onto the official soundtrack. (You can hear it at Bungie.net, if you'd like to refresh your memory.) It's gorgeous - soaring and rich. Go enjoy. (Louis Wu 20:42:09 UTC)

Operation Chastity Warthog at MCM
Nick Singer pointed out an article about the Operation Chastity Warthog, which made an appearance at the London Expo - pics and a short writeup are online. Looks amazing! (Louis Wu 14:40:22 UTC)

Bungie-Inspired Music from Nicholas Singer
Nicholas Singer has been writing music inspired by Bungie tunes for quite a while - and recently he sent along a whole passel of new pieces. We've gathered up everything he's done in one place; you can swing by the page for full details. He'd love it if you used his music in your Halo-related podcast or machinima; go listen to the pieces, and download anything you'd like to use! (Louis Wu 19:55:01 UTC)

Marathon - The Forerunner Mix (Gamma)
AfroRyan noticed a new remix of Nick Singer's third Marathon Halo mix (we mentioned previous versions of this mix in February 2008 and August 2007). I like it quite a lot. Downloads (currently) available from 4 sources; if they dry up, we'll host it ourselves. (Louis Wu 21:39:40 UTC)

Potential Podcast Music
Nick Singer has been in our news in the past, for creating cool Marathon/Halo music mixes - he's back, with a new piece he put together for use on the Bungie podcast. Bungie hasn't said if they're going to use it or not - but you can listen to it for yourself, it's quite short, but pretty full of energy! See what you think. (Louis Wu 20:15:17 UTC)

Marathon Mix 3 - Remixed
Last summer, Nick Singer released the third of three Marathon/Halo music mixes - but he wasn't happy with the piece as a trilogy end. He reworked the second half, both to make it sound more Halo-like, and to be more satisfying and conclusive for the three-piece series. Give a listen to the final product (mp3, 3.4 mb)! Marathon Mix 3
Nick Singer has posted the third of his Marathon/Halo music mixes; I can't hear it yet, but if it's anything like the last two, I know I'll love it. Check it out for yourself! (Louis Wu 14:56:13 UTC)

Marathon Mix 2
Nick Singer posted a Marathon/Halo remix a few days ago - it was pretty well-received (I even heard positive rumblings from Marty about it). He's back, with a new one (descriptively titled 'Marathon Mix 2' - heh); it mashes up Chomber and Under a Night Sky, and it's really evocative. Go listen. Marathon Mix 1
If you've got a long memory, you might remember Nick Singer as the guy who was looking for Halo mods that needed original music a couple of years ago. He's back - and this time, he's mixing the music of Marathon and Halo, and doing a wonderful job of it. Go check out his Marathon Mix 1. (Louis Wu 03:06:42 UTC)

Composer looking for Halo work
Nicholas Singer, a professional composer who studied at Oxford and the National Film School, is looking for single-player Halo mods that need original music. You can hear some samples of his work in the forum post - I'd say anyone who picked him up would be doing pretty well! (Louis Wu 18:24:28 UTC)

It says Kilroy Was Here, okay?
Okay, I'm doing this for my own sanity. Ever since the release of the Halo 2 screenshots a few weeks ago, there's been quite a bit of discussion about the writing on the side of the assault rifle carried by the MC in this picture. (Here's a very nice closeup, handily enhanced by Storm Singer.) I'm sick to death of seeing it misinterpreted as 'RAT' or 'KAT' in our forum, and in email - the english text reads 'Kal 9.6 mm x 40' - 'Kal' being short for the german 'Kaliber'. This has been confirmed by Bungie, so please - no more rats. (We've even added it to our FAQ, to make life easier for those looking for the tru7h.) The chinese characters translate roughly to 'Monkey King', according to several different people on our forum... but nobody's actually pinned down the significance of this yet. Hopefully, this information will allow me to get back to the very important work of cleaning my toenails without having to hear about RATs. Thanks. (Louis Wu 00:37:01 UTC)

2000 Credits? I'll take one!
Clint Wilkes sends in a new Mastercard 'Priceless' parody - you'll find it in our Miscellaneous Art section. (Nice nod to Foxx Wolf's mom! And to Stormsinger, as well...) (Louis Wu 14:13:14 UTC)

Nice fins...
One of these days, a new section will come online here at HBO - it'll house some of the cool mod-related artwork that's sprung up in the past few months. Until then, though, new submissions will continue to go into the Miscellaneous Art section... like this rendering of a Scorpion motion-tracking missile (described in 'The Fall of Reach', and featured in Stormsinger's upcoming Skyhawk model). Check it out! (Louis Wu 01:31:14 UTC)

Badger ATV... nice.
StormSinger is working on a new model for... well, for something. Halo-related, it seems. Maybe. Anyway, it's pretty interesting, and the thread it spawned is a great read. (Louis Wu 02:49:09 UTC)

Marty says narrator is Derek Procell
Marty O'Donnell (through Matt Soell) divulges the name of the narrator of the E3 Trailer Teaser - Derek Procell. A quick web search turns up a Country/Folk singer with the right vocal style... nice to put a face to the name! (Louis Wu 08:54:56 UTC)
