As before, he makes me wish he were on the dev team. Go give this latest chapter a read, and then begin the wait for Mission 2! (Louis Wu 15:46:37 UTC)
November 5, 2012 Link to this post Shield and Sword - the Wrapup
There is more Halo 4 content out there than you can shake a Gravity Hammer at - let's start with some local stuff. Leviathan has been posting a series of thought experiments - he calls the project 'Shield and Sword', and it shows, via text, sketches, maps, and more, how he might have gone about making a Halo-related campaign. The final bits were ready to go this weekend - but we were offline. He posted them on his personal blog, but we've put up local copies, so that the full run is visible on our forum, as he intended it to be. Check out Mission Seven: United, and when you're through, jump over to The Final Threads (missions eight and nine, plus an epilogue). The forum is still closed for comments - but it will reopen tomorrow, so you can add your thoughts then! (Louis Wu 19:07:59 UTC)
October 18, 2012 Link to this post Shield and Sword: The Monitor
Leviathan is back with another episode of Shield and Sword, his imagining of a Halo campaign in spectacular detail. This is Mission 6: The Monitor. Concept art, dialogue, and a general layout of the level are included. As always... jaw-dropping. I want someone to build this. (Louis Wu 18:46:46 UTC)
August 7, 2012 Link to this post Reconciling Brilliance There are times where I look at someone's work and know full well that I'm witnessing the developing stages of an incredibly bright future. Everything I see of Leviathan's work makes me feel like this, and his latest entry is no different. Introducing "Reconciled", the newest chapter in Levi's "Shield & Sword" Halo game concept series. The goods just keep on being delivered, and this time he's even brought some of HBO's own most talented denizens (including Hedgemony, pete the duck, and TD Spiral) to add to the brilliance. This entry - and the series as a whole - is absolutely worth a look. Go see it! (GrimBrother One 21:41:35 UTC)

June 2, 2012 Link to this post Shield and Sword - Armor Augmentations
Leviathan's Shield and Sword, his vision of a Halo expansion, continued last night with a discussion of Armor Augmentations. Awesome ideas (and artwork!). Check it out! (Louis Wu 14:05:20 UTC)
May 16, 2012 Link to this post The Broken Chord of Shield and Sword Leviathan continues his march towards game design-godhood with the latest installment of his Shield & Sword series. This next chapter in his hypothetical Halo campaign is called The Broken Chord, and deserves both fan and industry attention. If you want to go see his awesome processes, go look! If you like peace and goodwill, go look! (GrimBrother One 14:45:13 UTC)
April 10, 2012 Link to this post Shield and Sword - Shield World Last month, we mentioned a forum post by Leviathan, one that looked at his own vision of where a Halo game could go. It was fascinating, and generated some really interesting conversation. Well... he's back, with the next installment. This one focuses on a mission titled 'Shield World', and reading it will give you a peek into Levi's mind - there are concept art pieces, diagrams of layout, ideas about new weapons, a sandbox, and more. After reading it, I wanted nothing more than to PLAY it. Go see if you agree. (Tom Van Sinden 14:09:09 UTC)
March 10, 2012 Link to this post Shield and Sword - The Howling Dark Leviathan is a Halo fan with a fantastic imagination and some serious artistic talent. The combination leads to some really interesting projects. His latest is called 'Shield and Sword' (we've mentioned it a couple of times), and he's using it to take a look at what COULD be the next Halo game. (Well, what could be the next Halo game if someone were making games based on his daydreaming.) What pushes this past the typical "wouldn't it be cool if..." type post is the artwork he's incorporated to show you his visions. I was riveted. Go check it out. (Louis Wu 16:01:02 UTC)
March 5, 2012 Link to this post Quarantined Leviathan has been quietly working on Shield and Sword, his next big Halo-related project... but he decided to share a sketch he finished recently. I'm really happy he did! (Louis Wu 12:06:37 UTC)
February 11, 2012 Link to this post Shield & Sword: A Leviathan Take on the Next Halo Game One of HBO's resident art savants, Mr. Levi "Why Hasn't He Been Hired Yet" Hoffmeier (aka Leviathan) recently bestowed upon our humble forum his latest project. It's his personal "what-if" concept of the next Halo game that he calls "Shield and Sword", and it details everything from UI design to feature structure and organization. It's an absolutely beautiful arrangement of thoughts and images, and should be checked out by all sentient life forms. It's part one in a series, so check it out and stay tuned for more!
