Canon Fodder - Second To None
This week's Canon Fodder focuses on Second Story, a feature of the Halo Channel that allows new views into existing content. Teleporting Projectiles
Interesting! Lord Zedd has posted a video showing teleporters working with projectiles (you fire into one end, it comes out the other). Apparently, this was built into the game, but never activated. I'm sort of glad (I can't tell you how frustrating it would be to be killed by a rocket that came out of nowhere - erm, out of the nearby teleporter - in a matchmade game) - but I can see how this would be pretty interesting to play with! Galactic Battles
robofin117 noticed a project on IndieGoGo called 'Galactic Battles' - it's an open movie project that combines a variety of universes, including the Halo universe. They're looking for $15,000 to help fund this, and they've got a little over a month to raise it. Swing by and watch the promo video to see if it's something you want to support!

Halo 5 Gets a Horse Drawn Carriage
Earlier this week we pointed out some suspicious looking Halo Mega Blok figures that were shown at the 2015 Toy Fair. Chief Motorcycle Helmet Coming in July
According to the NECA website, The Master Chief DOT-approved motorcycle helmet is slated for release this July. NECA also stated that the helmet would cost "around $500". I just hope that the final version doesn't fit like this. (colindosaj 20:40:10 UTC) (permalink)

Starting today, Xbox will be discounting various digital titles through February 24th. Halo 4 is currently 60% off for Gold members and 50% off for Silver members. According to this promotional shot, The Master Chief Collection will see a 60% discount during the weekend. Halo 1 - The Original Flamethrower
Gamecheat13 went back to the original Halo and looked carefully at the Flamethrower - a weapon which wasn't actually IN the original Halo. (Well, the released version.) L-058: A Halo Fan Film (Round 2)
Back in October, we posted a note about a Kickstarter campaign to fund a Halo fan film called 'L-058', based on Linda, a Spartan-II who showed up first in Halo: Fall of Reach (the book). They got 62 people on board - but didn't raise enough money to hit their goal ($21,000). A couple of weeks ago, they fired up a page on Indigogo - they're trying again, and this time they're asking for half as much money. Check out the page - they've got some concept art up, details on where the money will go, and more. If 500 people shoot 'em $20, they'll be good to go! Thanks to Diego (who contributed to the original Kickstarter campaign, and has been keeping an eye on them since) for the heads-up!

Leviathan was commissioned to create some Halo-based artwork for Blackt1g3r, using the Spartans he and his wife used in Reach. Blackt1g3r had the piece printed on metal - and it's pretty gorgeous! (You can see his attempts to photograph it - semi-successful, because of the material - and the digital artwork he started with, from Levi, over at DBO.) Now I want one of those! An Oral History of the Halo 2 E3 2003 Demo
Oozer3993 put together a really impressive 'Oral History' of the Halo 2 E3 2003 Demo - he compiled quotes from various team members (with full documentation) that gives a beautiful overview of the project, and how the various people involved felt about it (both at the time, and afterwards). There are bonus links containing all related media - in all, a serious labor of love focusing on a project that embodied the best and worst Bungie was capable of in the heady pre-Halo 2 days. Nightfall - on physical media
If you don't have an Xbox One, you haven't been able to watch Nightfall... yet. Urban Reflex noticed that it's coming to BluRay and DVD in March - and surprisingly, it's cheaper ($17) on BluRay than it is on DVD ($21). A sad time for the Halo machinima community
Followers of Red vs Blue might recognize the name of Monty Oum, the animator behind some of their recent seasons. He's had a medical emergency (details are vague, at the request of family), and it looks pretty serious. (He's hospitalized in critical care, and it is unknown whether he will recover.) You can read Burnie's post on the subject at the Rooster Teeth website, and you can contribute to his medical expenses on this GoFundMe page. We're pulling for you, Monty! Update: On Sunday, February 1, 2015, Monty passed away. A truly sad day.
