tastybread's Cardboard Armorin June, 2007, tastybread, a member of the Half-Life Fallout forums, began posting pictures of some Mjolnir armor he was creating out of cardboard. (He went a little further than your average cardboard armor maker, and the end result looks pretty spectacular, even though his total outlay for supplies was under $30.) So with Halloween being four months away, I decided that now was as good a time as any to start working on this years costume. Seeing how I work at Trader Joes and we have a limitless supply of boxes, I decided to save a few bucks and make the entire thing out of cardboard. After three days I've managed to make the entire thing and thought I would share my progress. In late June, the armor was submitted to Digg, where one of our readers noticed it - along with thousands of other people. The Half-Life Fallout forums quickly succumbed, and went offline for several days. When they came back up, we contacted tastybread, and asked if we could host local versions of his pictures - he said he'd be delighted. Below, you'll find his progress pictures, along with comments he made as he went.
