They're Random, Baby!

Major Silva's Spike Grenade

Spike-Construction-2

Next is the fun part. You know that can of peaches you've never eaten? Well they may come in handy here! Personally I took a medium can (tomatoe juice) for this, but you can theoretically put any size on it you want. Take said can, and wrap your piece of paper around it. Next, tape the piece of paper together, around the can. Be sure to fold the top over the can -- like a birthday present wrapping on the sides. Fold two sides, then the other two. Then tape. You can now slide the paper off.

Here comes the tricky part. Next, you have to fold the bottom half (open) together. My best description of this is a "pinch". This is the only way to get it into the shaft that you just made, while also giving it that distinct Spike Grenade look. Wrap the entire thing (shaft and all) in masking tape after you get the "ball" part of the grenade into the shaft. This will make it possible to paint the thing later, as latex doesn't really soak up that paint all too well.

The actual Spikes are the easy part. Now, I know I forgot some (at least I think.. can't remember from the Beta) at the top of the grenade, facing outward. I was going to make them at the last second after I remembered that there were some there, but unfortunately by that time my paint reserves were totally nil. So, maybe another day I'll finish that part of it. Anyway, for the spikes all you have to do is take the aforementioned latex tape and wrap it tightly around itself. Stretch it out more for the longer top spikes, and less for the small spikes. I'm unsure how much you'd have to "curve" it for the upward pointing spikes I didn't include however. You'll have to figure that out on your own! Next, wrap these spikes in more masking tape. Attach to grenade with masking tape on bottom (to prop the thing up), then top.
