They're Random, Baby!

The Grunt Plushy Migration
ORDERS ARE CLOSED.

Basic Info

During Halo Fest, in Seattle, at the end of August 2011, Microsoft offered Grunt Plushy for sale for the very first time. This is an item that fans have been yelling for for YEARS - but eCompanyStore (who runs the merchandise sales for 343) had to fight to get 5000 of these bad boys made. They were to be exclusive to Halo Fest - and a 3-plushy-per-person limit was put on sales, to ensure that the supply didn't disappear too quickly.

Astoundingly, to me, they did NOT sell out - and the store manager, along with 343 Industries, were kind enough to allow bungie.org to offer a very limited number of these to fans who were not able to make it to Halo Fest.

These will be sold in either one or two waves. We've purchased a number of the plushies already, and are willing to ship them (worldwide) to fans, at our cost. If demand exceeds the number we have on hand, we'll take orders for additional units, for a set time... and then make a single purchase for whatever demand remains (assuming they have stock left).

Special Bonus: The first 75 orders will also recieve one of the invitations distributed for the VIP Party that was held during Halo Fest. This is a very cool bit of schwag - it's printed on a piece of semi-opaque plastic, 3"x6", and contains full details of the party itself. (Sorry, you can't actually use it, since the party happened last month.) (Because we've only got 75 of these, they will be one per order, even if you purchase more than one plushy.)

ALL 75 OF THESE WERE CLAIMED AS OF 5:00PM ET, SEPTEMBER 9.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Plushies can I buy?

Because our supply is so limited, we're setting a three-per-order limit on the Plushies. In addition to making sure a larger number of fans get a shot at one, it made the math easier for shipping.

How much does this plushy cost?

It was available at Halo Fest for $16.95, plus tax. Our cost is a bit lower, but after shipping, your costs are almost the same.

United States:
$17 for one plushy
$33 for two plushies
$48 for three plushies

Canada:
$18 for one plushy
$34 for two plushies
$50 for three plushies

Everywhere Else:
$19 for one plushy
$37 for two plushies
$55 for three plushies

How long will it take to get this?

We are starting orders today, September 9, 2011, but we won't have the plushies in hand for at least another week - maybe two. (They were shipped from Seattle back to Georgia, and from there they'll be shipped up to Connecticut.) As soon as they arrive, we'll start packaging them up and mailing them out - but you probably shouldn't expect to see yours before the end of September, at the earliest. Remember - all packaging is being done by one person - a person who has a full-time job (and a fansite to run!).

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

If your order comes in after our initial supply is exhausted, there will be a delay in filling it. It is unlikely the second batch will be mailed before the second week in October (and it might be a bit later than that). We will mark this page as soon as we know the first batch is full - but you can always write to ask, if you're unsure.

How do I know this isn't a scam?

Well... you don't. If you're worried about it - please don't order. All I can tell you is that I've been running HBO for 12 years now, and have been giving away goodies (for contests and the like) for nearly that long, with very few complaints. (There was an issue with a small subset of prizes from the 2009 Guilt O' Lantern contest - but that was completely out of my hands, and the winners did, eventually, receive what they were promised.) We ran a charity auction for Bungie in 2005 (in the wake of Hurricane Katrina), and handled all payments. We've sold three separate shirts, and as far as I know, nobody's ever been ripped off with an order. The PayPal account that's being used for the orders is a verified account, and there are probably protections in place by PayPal themselves. But when it comes right down to it... if you don't feel comfortable buying a Plushy from us - don't. We're not making any money at all - and the fewer I sell, the less work there is for me.

Wait... NO money? Why are you doing this, then?

No money. (I'd guess, in fact, that when all is said and done, this will end up COSTING me money overall.) We're doing it because we love the fans, and we felt pretty strongly that offering Grunt Plushies to those who couldn't afford to make it out to Halo Fest was a good thing.

Why the heck is this page called 'The Grunt Plushy Migration'?

Because the Plushies are migrating. From my house to yours.

Okay, fine. I wanna buy. What do I do?

Hey! I have more questions!

You can send any questions about the plushies themselves, or HBO's involvement in this process, or the technical aspects of ordering, to Louis Wu.
