They're Random, Baby!

Design a Faceplate Contest

August 23, 2006

Winners (and Honorable Mentions) have been posted!

The Contest

This one's easy! Design a new Halo-related faceplate for an Xbox 360, win one of two prototypes of Bungie's EXISTING faceplate! (That's it up above - well, except without the cool b.org logo.) Everyone but the two lucky winners will need to wait until October to get their grubby mitts on this puppy.

The Rules

Rules are, as usual, pretty simple:

  • You can enter as many times as you like, but you can only win once.
  • Download this file (2.2 mb photoshop document, layered), paste your cool design into the layer labeled, save it as a jpeg, send it back to us. (The document handles all the cool shaping, shadowing, etc; you need Photoshop - or an application that can read layered Photoshop documents - to play this game.)
  • All entries must be uploaded to contestuploads.bungie.org. (If you email them, we will toss them. If you upload them somewhere else, we will toss them. If you stick them in an envelope and send them in via US mail, we will toss them - but we will first ridicule you on our front page.)
  • All entries must be in by 5PM, PST, on Friday, August 11, 2006. (That's two weeks from now.)
  • Judging will be done by Bungie, and winners will be announced on or soon after August 18th.
  • Judging will be based on the coolness factor of the faceplate. Coolness factor is defined by Bungie on an frequently-updated basis. We can't tell you what qualifies; they know it when they see it.
  • Keep it relatively clean. R- or X-rated entries stand no chance of winning. Sorry.
  • The top 2 entries will win prototype versions of this faceplate.
  • Contestants can live anywhere in the world.

Prizes are courtesy of Bungie Studios. Because they rock. Hassles involved with the contest are the responsibility of bungie.org. Because we love to deal with your problems.

The Finer Print

Bungie is not planning on using these faceplates for any commercial purpose - but by entering this contest, you agree to turn over your rights to the work to Bungie. This is just in case they end up making a faceplate that happens to look like one of the contest entries; they don't want someone coming back to them in 6 months and saying "you totally owe me royalties! That's my design!" If you can't live with this stipulation, please don't enter the contest. (Bungie is not in the habit of stealing intellectual property; they're just covering their bases.)

The Finest Print

This contest (and all subsequent similar contests) is run by bungie.org. Prizes are supplied by Bungie Studios - we are NOT Bungie Studios, we just have a key to their schwag closet. Don't bug them if you've got a problem - bug US.
