Hey, Pilot, it's brief, not breif. I guess all Russians are morons.
And I never insulted the Russians on their Space Program. It is simply that in the future I do not think space exploration will be universally shared.

I guess the ISS does owe alot to the russians. I mean, the only means of escape up there are the russian soyas, or however you spell it. I bet warmongering, power-hungy, Bush is eventually going to take the whole columbia incident out on middle eastern countries.

Full blooded Russian here you morons don't even know about the half baked Russian space program we are the true space pioneers with sputnic and the mir space station the damn americans publisize all the space launches (no offence i just dont like american news meida) when us Russians just humbly launch a craft ever couple of months and don't say much of anything to the general public besides hay we are not launching a kuke its a spacecraft to feed the cosmonauts (breif vocab lesson Def: of cosmo-outer space...Def: of astro-outer atmosphere...who got the better name) but we share our space station so in wide terms all humanity will eventually share outer and inner space to explore the cosmos.

By the way, Traumatised Marine, I trust you recognize my name? (Except I'm missing an "e"... I forgot to put it in my email address and I've stuck with it ever since).

Well, Traumatised Marine, I'm guessing you mean the Cornwall in England and NOT the Cornwall in Ontario, lol.
I went to England once (Norwich (the Cathedral there was amazing) Bath (The Baths of Bath were great) Oxford (interesting stuff) and London (spectacular!)) I will go back there one day... maybe even to Cornwall.

I'm an American and I do agree with Marine we do hog up most of everything we have to show off like you know were the better country and more clean and yes we do need to work on space travel that would be neat lol.
But anyways your story was great liked it alot

To be quite honest I didn't actually know that was the Duke of Wellington's name!
It's shameful, really, that I care so little about my country's history.
I should really, but there we go.

(There goes my whole 'god-save-the-queen-proud-to-be-english reputation, no big loss, I suppose.)

Hehehe, true, but I mean the actual origin of the name Arthur Wellesly (or actually Arthur Wellesley). He was the Duke of Wellington and was the major English General who beat Napolean in Portugal, Spain, and France.

Yeah, the Cornwall in England, and yes I know who you are, A.W.- you wrote the "Raise your head with pride" fiction!

Marine, i said that space travel SHOULD be shared with all of humanity, not that i expected it to be, especially when the major space pioneers are hogs like the U.S.

This comments section is going to disintegrate into a battleground for Canada-America Jeers if we're not careful.

I like America, I'd rather the yanks were the most dominant country in the world than the chinese for instance, at least they share the ideals of western culture!

And as for the Canadians, you guys can come down here to Cornwall anytime, cause the people here love you. I'm not sure of the details but it's something to do with the Canadians coming and kicking off a bunch of other nations who were illegally using our fishing space in the sea around Cornwall.

Big deal in dodge city you might say, but then again...

ya the government is pretty bad my main concern at the moment is with the fact that the governmant wan'ts to turn canad into mini america which is something i oppose strongly, i belive that we should keep our culure alive. i withdraw my first comment towards you arthur and the disgrace part just a misunderstanding on my part.

ps. just to piss off those paying americans i went to the hospital three times last week and didn't pay a cent =) vive le medicare

I love Canada as a place to be, but it is not I who is disgraceful, but our government. Chretien is a moron. Our government is a total joke. Our streets are [relatively] safe and our healthcare system is perfectly adequate, but then again it is not these traits I am criticizing...
As for your agreement about space exploration being shared by all, don't be too hasty. Remember the space race during the Cold War? With the colonization of planets allowing for fleets of vessels to be built, things wouldn't get much better than that.

8:15 pm | February 10, 2003
oh i deeply agree with the comment about space exploration being shared with all of humanity, the future of our race is something that everyone should be in on. now back to my earlier comment you arthur are a disgrace of a canadian, sure john cretian is not the brightest guy around and quebec just dosn't realize how hard it would be for them to get along on their own but id prefer the relitvly safe streets of any canadian city to any american city

Whoa, funny how the whole chain of input leads to French Canadians and Al-Quaida.

To Locke: Your point about human nature is well aknowledged, stating dewy-eyed morals is well and good, but in reality humans as both individuals and masses can be narrow-minded and superfluous.
Arthur Wellesly

Jean Chretien is a moron. He spends his time wondering what new stupid thing to do. As for Quebec, they won't ever break off. They wouldn't last 5 seconds without the rest of the country. And everybody in Canada are so anti-American its not funny. You'd be surprised. Some of my people at my school were saying that Al-Quaida was justified in what they did. Sheesh. Morons.
Sorry, but when I get wound up, I tend to go a little weird.

I'm not trying to offend anyone. I just don't agree with Marine. I respect his viewpoint, but I can't be forced to concur with it.
Also, I'm from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, lol, and I'm an avid pro-American and anti-Canadian. And although I'd like to think that space exploration should be shared by all, human nature begs to differ.
Locke

Also Arthur, just a tip. Never agrue with someone who compliments your story. Marine is a popular critic and definatley someone you want to have reading , and if your lucky, complimenting your series. Not a person you want as an enemy.
Also, you've made it obvious that you are an "American", and think of your country as "the best". That's definatley going to reflect on you in the future.
Locke
8:10 pm | February 9, 2003
That was really good.
Also i like how your story starts before Halo, mine does to! (Except only a few years before).
Also Marine, i perfectly agree with your "rant". If anything, advanced space travel is an advancement to be shared with the human race as one, not hogged and shown off by a bunch of stuck-up americans! (No offense to NASA).

Hahaha, point taken, but right now the middle east IS getting its ass kicked by the Americans, and the Russians and Chinese are both many decades behind the Americans and I'm not sure that that will change any time soon unless there is a nuclear cataclysm in which case everything would have gone to hell and space explanation never would have happened.
As for the Fujikawa Shaw, have you heard any of the UNSC people speak Japenese? Or even have a name that sounded remotely Japanese? No, Fujikawa Shaw was probably named after an American-Japanese scientist who discovered/modified it.
I understand your rant though.... I just don't agree with it.

Very good stuff, but why is it always the flippin' amercians who get such glory?

In all the films and stuff, it's always the flippin' yanks (true most of it comes from hollywood)who save the world, etc. COME ON!!

In FoR you might remember reading about Fujikawa Shaw, aka slipspace, now it might be me but that sounds like a japanese name, or some other eastern name, so how come it's the americans who get to go up first and steal all the glory, that isn't fair!

And why do I keep seeing the poor russians, middle east and chinese getting their asses kicked around by americans, that's not fair, either!

Surely they could have settled their differences by then, exploring space is an achievment for the whole of humanity as a united race, not just america!

Sorry for that long rant, but let's get some fresh thinking, people.
Oh, and this rant isn't aimed at the author of this fiction, it's excellent, it's just a general rant.
