PB = "Pitch Black" the movie, but I didn't want to say the name in case I was right, which I'm not.

Well, I don't know what they are but they do remind me of something I saw in a movie (let's just call the movie PB for short). Am I right, huh, huh?

Anyway, I don't care what they are so long as I have my nuclear powered nightlight by my bed...lol.

What I will do is speculate on who made the ruins (I'm not just going to say forerunners either). There are traps around the ruins, these traps are not set to stop the "shadows" which leads me to believe that the shadows were not a threat at the time the ruins were originally designed. Either the shadows came later or lived underground and were released during the construction of the ruins, etc. So, anyway, the traps were designed for ground moving creatures, probably to keep them out (*toys with the idea that traps might be to keep something in, naw*). So I'm going to say that the traps were built to keep Covenant out (a space faring ground moving group of races). So I'm going to say that the ruins were originally built by some group that was being hunted by the Covenant, but the Covenant weren't interested in glassing the planet, so the race had some value to the Covenant if taken alive. Am I right? Probably not but that's my guess.

Nice story but please don't tell me that they are what I think they are, and if they are damn u. Cause if those are the things i know you are talking about, my newer story in the works is gonna be labeled as "plagerizing"

My complements to you Mercforhire, it is indeed a worthy story you've posted here.
So in the humble words of a 'newly created Covenant culture' : "Telleths Shon Alora, Thaydo Utas."
