Sarge, Glenny, hmmmm? Had no clue.

Anyway, good points. I guess what I was saying was that if the Covenant has a choice to fight or not, they might have choosen a strategy that would yield less casualties for maximum effectiveness. Something like, grab a big asteroid from space, tow it over the target and drop it on the target before the all out assault. The same effect as an artillery barage before a charge. Or have something at the power plant that the Covenant needed to retrieve so they don't want to blow the place up quite yet. Say, the index or something.

As for the game, very nicely put. Yes grunts get mowed down. I've got a good counter-point maybe to that... Have you ever completed a level in Halo on Legendary without lossing one life? I think I needed about a 100 Master Chiefs to get through the darn Library (wait that was flood), okay, I needed a few dozen to get through that beach level. Still though, if you only have ONE MC then things change a little in the game.

Awesome story anyway.

I'm not trying to be too hard on the author, the story is good. I think I'm just tired of people treating Covenant and marines like they have nothing better to do than fight in close quarters. Fighting is a last resort. There are weapons that can blast/drill to the core of a planet perhaps, if you want them in your story. Underground is safe in most cases, but if the enemy really plans ahead, they can design a weapon to gain the advantage. Of course, this is only if you choose to have these weapons available.

In answer to your question wado, the power generators were buried deep in reach(if you remember from the book) that way, the covenant would have to send ground troops in to destroy it :). Anyways great story, i can always imagine your scenes the best(even though you don't explain it that much) for some certain reason. I like the story, and it's gang-banger AI, cool AI's are the trend these days ;D.

Good job, that was one heck of a big battle. Question: If all the Covenant wanted to do is destroy the power plant, why didn't they just bomb it from orbit? But who cares, nice job on the story.
