Wow, Wado, you made it sound like you don't even know the whole story, and that makes it all the more appealing. It was like in the Lord of the Rings when Tolkein (or Bilbo, or Frodo, or whoever the narrator was supposed to be) first introduced Gandalf, and commented that "if you knew only a quarter of what I knew about him, and I know very little, than you would be prepared for a great adventure." O.K., I might not have nailed the quote, but I'm working from memory here. The story seems very Tolkenish though, what with the names of the battle-grounds and the way the battle shifts in favor of opposing forces constantly. Alright, I'll stop rambling and finish this series.

ok. thanks, wado. don't apologize for it being confusing, that's part of the reason i like it.

Wow Walker, you summarized the story fairly good based on what you could. I have to say that this story has little or nothing to do with the Forerunners, just the Archons. Let me explain:

The Archons are from the time of the Forerunners but are a separate race that came to this galaxy. The Forerunners were the dominant nation at that time and allowed the Archons to stick around for various reasons.

The Web of Medusa is a giant energy null field that traps ships and steals their energy making it also a giant graveyard of ships.

The MC is compelled to go to the Web of Medusa by the Archons through some kind of subconscious telepathy. Turns out he has the spirit of an ancient Archon sleeping within him as do many heroes of Earth. Long ago the Archons seeded certain humans with sleeper Archons, but I won't get into that now.

So the Web of Medusa has one habitable planet in that star system, that planet is called Medusa. A long time ago (several hundred years), a group of Covenant races were fleeing the mainstream Covenant because their religious beliefs differed and they were being persecuted for that.

These refuge Covenant ended up being trapped in the Web and eventually made their way to the planet Medusa. They thought it a paradise and colonized the planet. They had zero contact with the rest of the Covenant, one because they were trapped and two because if they could get a message out, the rest of the Covenant would just come and persecute them more.

About 40 years ago the Flood arrived on the planet and then all hell broke lose, the paradise turned into well... a very bad place.

There were other alien races trapped on Medusa, one race called the Demons and another called the Saurans, but it is not clear if the Saurans might be native to the planet.

Nobody likes the Flood and that sets the stage for epic battles and the great escape aboard a legendary ark.

That's all I'll say, the rest is in the story.

Sorry if it is confusing.

oh and somewhere in the background of all this is the foreruner tribe of the archons? gosh, this is so amazing. i love stories that get so complicated and into this much detail. looking back to the archons, it makes it seem that the main halo storyline is just one small piece in the big picture, which reaches its climaxat medusa. am i close?

wait, lemme get this straight. there's this place called medusa. it's natives are these lizards called saurans. some time ago two covenant exploration ships or something came into the web of medusa and set up shop. now this web of medusa is kinda a covenant colony, but not really in good touch with the main covenant body. because of this the covenant on the planet have developed a cultural heritage rooted deep into the web of medusa as their home instead of the main covenant lands. (kinda like the elves of beleriand in the Silmarillion by tolkien.) now the medusa covenant have split into several warring factions and there is this big civil war going on, and all the while our heroes are trying to find the MC a way out of medusa. but, it turns out, one of the warring factions is also part of the conquest of the main covenant body against earth, and tortured these spartans to discover its location. that's where i stopped reading to post this, because in all truth i am very confused. do i have the gist of things?

Okay. An Elite named Kavaszer [ka-va-zer]. He was a commander of his ship, Pride and Honor, and died honorably. Is that good enough. The character is from one of my stories. I'm not posting it, as I've said.

Thanks all, I've got several emails so I'm good to go, but I'll wait to see if more come in. Nike, just this one time, but since the Master Chief can't be in this hall of champions (he can't be a legal puzzle piece), do you have an "anti-champion"? I've got one slot only available in the puzzle for one of these. It's yours if you want it.

BH, I like that. By champion I mean that that there's a hall of champions section in the next chapter that has holographic portraits of beings of note. I want to put in a portrait for you Nike, give me a name for your champion and a brief description if you can in one sentence. The whole hall of champions is a puzzle that must be solved by matching the appropriate champion to a task or something like that...

I really don't have an innovative person. He's the Master chief and he's a Spartan.

Yes email me it you want. Your email will end up in my bulk mail folders, but I'll check it carefully not to miss anyone. If you put something in the subject line like fan fiction or champion submission I'll eye it quicker. Thanks

Alright lets see, I see everyone of everyone's characters as a champion of one sort or another, it just depends on the view and the cause! I'll e-mail you about it so as not to spoil the person, i advise everyone else to do the same

"Champion?" What do you mean by that? I can't put a comment until I know what in the BH you're talking about. I mean what I said about Zenith; your that good. Oh yeah, the founder of Zenith is Vector40 and you can e-mail him at vector40@ol.com. Reply, please.

"You guys rule, but the creator doesn't know it." I meant that you guys rule, but the creator doesn't know if you like all the chapters in the series. I experimented with a slightly different writing style in each chapter.

You guys rule, but the creator doesn't know it. Still no news from Zenith so I'm thinking it was just some hype instead of a formal invitation. I'll just keep writing. I'm holding off on the finally to this series a bit to let people catch up. Hey though, since I am waiting. There's a small section with a "hall of champions" in the story that I want to add a few folks to. I know I want to add an Arch and a Sarge. Just need a short sentence describing what your champion is like (just add a comment here). Very small part but I'll take entries from Arch, Sarge, Knightmare Wolf, Knightmare, Nike, and more (in case I missed anyone) but probably no more than the first ten or so. If you want to opt out then just say so or if I don't hear from you I'll consider that an opt out. Need to know by Friday night PDT. It really is not a very big deal so don't go overboard.
