Remember. though, grades and ranks are different:
Grade: Ariman, Staff Sergeant, Lieutenant, etc.
Rank: Squad Leader, First Sergeant, Executive Officer, etc.
Airman Basic is a grade, but I was thinking about the advantage CAP gives you after basic training (if you get so-far in CAP, thne you start out as an E-3).
How old are you romac? Are you in the Air Force or stationed on a base becuase your parents are in, or what?

Yes, and you can only become Chief of the Air Force if you are the Chief of a major command, such as the one I'm in, the Pacific, or Europe Command. But actually you are an Airmen Basic for a while, if you do not screw up for six months you are automatically promoted to Airmen. And getting to ranks that high is no easy feat, it takes on average 18-20 years to reach the rank of SMsgt, and mormally 21-22 years to reach CMsgt. The only reason I know a lot about Planes, avionics, ranks, Air Force, is because I live on an Air Force Base that I'm not at liberty to say where due to OpSec(operation security)

Oh yeah, I forgot First Seargent, similar to Chief of the Force, but in the lower NCO ranks. And no, Airman Basic IS a rank, it is the first rank, not basic. The ranks for Basic are as follows: Civilian, Recruit, Cadet. Then basic training ends, you get your first assingment and you are an airmen basic automatically. Keep your act clean, then they promote you after six months. Oh yes I forgot, You have to be e-7, e-8, e-9, to become a First Sergeant, or in the Air force, First "Shirt".

So I forgot Airman Basic; Your only that grade when your in basic training.
And Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force is a RANK, not a GRADE. There's a distinct difference between those two.
You know your Air Force stuff...

Ahhh.... *stretches out*
Just got back from a SAREX (don't ask, look it up). For the last two days I was tracking down ELT's and turning them off; just for the heck of it.
And I come back and there's a whole two more posts! It's okay to tell it to me blunt: but is my series really unliked? Tell me if it is so I don't contiue posting something that one person reads (you regulars should know).
Hmmm, this gives me an idea. If nobody reads them, then I could...
You'll just have to see.

Wait...I got it:
Just use my name, Severian, as Russ (duh), and be like:
"Command Chief Master Sergeant Russ of HBO reporting for duty, serial number 687."
That should work, eh?
Air Force:
Airman Airman First Class Senior Airman Staff Sergeant Technical Sergeant Master Sergeant Senior Master Sergeant Chief Master Sergeant
That's the NCO ranks.

I never really got into learning airforce and navy ranks. I'm personally Army all the way but I respect Marines are basically soldiers on ships.

Thanks for the positive reinforcement.
Tom Clancy is good, not the best, but some of his books, like Red Storm Rising (which kicked ass I read it more then once) really show you the possibilites for our future with great detal.
Don't worry about it Severian, adverstising stories is not a popular thing to do. However, I'm interested to see where I come into your story (think real hard before you slap me in as "Command Chief Master Sergeant" of HBO).
Oh yeah, seriously, use that grade/rank. Nobody's ever used it...ever.
And Helljumper's about to scream at me that that's Air Force, but that's okay. You need some fly-boys.

Hell yeah the Bear and the Dragon is pretty good, trust me. If your into that, you should get Red Storm Rising, its a World War 3 scenario written by Tom Clancy. Russ it isn't that you aren't unliked, its just that I don't think there can be many other's posting. Be happy with what you have, when I first started posting my fan fics a couple years ago I got maybe the most of 4 comments, so enjoy what you've written and just be happy that others do too.

Hell yeah the Bear and Dragon is a damn good book, i've read all the tom clancy books so far which included Jack Ryan. Get Red Storm Rising, its a World War 3 scenario, very good book. Russ you aren't unliked, its just that people haven't gotten around to posting yet, trust me its better then when I started writing fan fics a couple years ago, i got like 3 - 5 on mine.

This -IS- weird. More people needs to read this.
Hmm... just had an idea... Why don't I put up advertisements for your stories in my n00b series? I -could-, with enough stretching, tie it in to your story...

Hmm... I 'thought' I posted earlier...
I absoutely, marvelously loved it til' it burst from my rib-breaking hug. continue! If you don't, I'll kill you off as soon as you appear in my n00b story... (not as a n00b, of course)
Robert Ludlum is better, in my opinion, than Clancy... I don't know, just tighter writing in my opinion. Plus, the fact that he is dead gives him... well, I don't know.

Yeah, I've never seen Clear and Present Danger, so I immediately associated it with Black Hawk Down. Very good, more mistakes than usual, but still good.
Helljumper, I've already stolen your idea. It's already been typed out and submitted. Sorry...

I don't believe it, Helljumper. Your story's not here...
Angry mob....
Actually I was going a little more for the Black Hawk Down settings, but that scenario worked as well (very well actually).
This Chapter was kinda a quick interlude before the mystery continues. Not much of getting along with the story-line, but I felt it was nessicary for you to see those special events that would happen again in the future (so you know or see some background to where certain things happened).
If you guys think it's a little wierd or far-fetched, well "...you haven't seen nothing yet."

That ambush reminded me of that scene from Clear and present danger. More grammar mistakes than usual, but good as usual.
