This world of terror I have come to know,
Where infection spreads and strange things grow.
I slog my way through jungle land
Always at the ready; gun in hand.
My squad has all been taken in
As if to atone for some old sin.
Their minds and bodys twisted and torn.
Their spirits taken; a new life born.
A life into slavery, but new nontheless,
Most people would curse, but some would bless.
Living in silence, or glorying in life,
Sworn to do violence; living in endless strife.
I find myself atop a hill,
Climbing here, now I have no will.
I try the radio and I find,
A pilot, Foehammer, is currently in a bind.
"I can pick you up in a bit, ground-pounder."
She said and my heart started to flounder,
"I have to drop someone off first."
Then all I heard was one long static burst.
I was on my knees on top of a hill
Waiting for my saviour to break through the swill
When I heard the all to familiar sound,
Like rushing streams and wind blowing 'round.
In a panic I turn to shoot,
But find myself facing moot.
Foehammer calls and then I say,
"Hurry, my friend, I'm not having a good day."
Foehammers pelican finally hits the hill.
I jumped inside with a will.
That wonderful pilot flew me away,
And,"Thank-you." was all I could say.
I think on my way back to Alpha Base;
All I could remember was Jenkins' face.
He was as scared as scared could be,
He didn't want an Alternate Reality.
