Africans Last Stand

As Sergeant Killow walked out into the line in the shattered and broken remains of downtown Cape Town, South Africa he was sad to see his beautiful homeland destroyed. His forces were all but the last left in the whole world. He had 500 demoralized troopers who could barely fight. He felt fear as he heard gunfire in the distance. "SIR WE GOT FRIENDLIES INCOMING" As he heard those words he shouted "Covering fire men" His men jumped up quickly and he was surprised to see this because they hadn't moved in days. The people that were coming in were very far away they seemed like ants running away from a giant magnifying glass of plasma fire. Right before the Sarges eyes 2 ghosts that ripped through the ant like men instantly killing them and their body parts were lying across the ground. He picked up a sniper rifle and shot straight at one of the ghosts and the driver fell out immediately. This would prove to be fatal, as the covenant had not spotted the troopers even when they fired their covering shots. Then in the distance he saw 2 bulging figures. He wasn't sure what he was seeing but then a huge flash of light came out of each of them and landed on a landing above the half destroyed flats they had entrenched them selves into. There were another 2 buildings one to the right and rear of the flats also dug in was the Sarges Troops. They started firing more and he saw some covenant coming over the hill. As they did the Sarge ordered his last tank to be pushed forward and fire on the advancing tanks and covenant. The men were holding them back and snipers on the roof were putting up a brave fight and doing their best. The covenant were getting close but the humans in a smart manoeuvre got around them by using a small broken building and sneaking behind them and wiping them out. But in one of the building a direct hit from the Wraiths took out all those men. Sarge ordered that all men retreat from their buildings and all into the flat. A grenade came through one of the windows and a mans body parts were thrown straight out the window.

It had been two days and the covenant couldn't penetrate the flats. They had been able now to completely surround it. The men were tired they had been fighting for 2 days straight. A scared private come up to the Sarge and said "Sir we are gonna die aren't we" I think the kid was expecting a word of encouragement from the Sarge but in a sad and deep voice he said "Yes I think we are gonna die". Then out of the huge mist we could hear hundreds of gunshots and a huge trumpet sounding the cavalry charge. Then we saw hundreds of African brothers coming through the street and they moved towards the hill. We all rushed out to join them in the charge. This brought the number of us to 1000 men. It was quite a sight for anyone to see. As we approached the hill Sarge was listening to the war cries of all the Africans and their spirit in battle. He knew what was waiting for them over the hill but he also knew he could not go on fighting for much longer so it was better to die this way. He remembered his father and sisters and brothers, his friends his wife and his sons. All of their faces flashed before him a million times and then he got to the top of the hill.

As far as the eye could see there were ghosts and we rushed down into the crowded ghosts firing our rifles. The ghosts came at us with no mercy. Some had plasma swords as cutting up men as they went. Then Sarge was knocked down onto the floor. He fell right next to a decapitated marine and his head was next to his face. At that moment he saw the horror of events. He got up and a ghost spotted him and raced at him. He ducked and as he did so he threw a plasma grenade into the bottom and it exploded behind him. The ghosts began to retreat and we carried on. By now they had 100 men left. There was now a second hill that would lead us into the Cape of Good Hope. As they came into the field he saw the horror of all horrors. Loads of Wraiths sat at the top of the hill as well as Shade Cannons and then all he could see was purple. Sarge fell to his knees and then........................
