"Bring me that Spanker!" Cried Ellie Hubbs, covering her teamates from a pack of about twelve Grunts, Elites, and Jackals. Private Yamauchi crawled his way to the rocket launcher. Its proper designation was 'SPNKR', but it was called Spanker for short. Yamauchi hefted the rocket launcher in their cramped sniper's posistion, and handed it to her.

"Your gonna have to be careful Corporal, there's only round left. I hope you've got a good aim." Ellie took the rocket launcher and hefted it onto her small five eight frame. The grouping of Covenant was all too easy to destroy. They were packed so closely...she fired sending bits of Grunt, Jackal and Elite everywhere. Shrapnel from the weapons and rocks and the rocket soon settled, leaving two Elites and three Grunts to survive. She smiled and her fellow soldiers let out a cheer.

"Great shot, Hubbs!" She heard from below. She recognized his voice, it was Private Lehto. Lehto rushed the Elites with his crew of ten, their BR55's bursts quickly downing the last Grunts. A red clad Elite popped up from the largest remaing rock that sat in the jungle terrain. It bellowed a terrible roar, missing an arm, but bring to bear an Energy Sword. It's violet blood was dripping dark, and was almost certainly going to fall if it won this fight out of pure exhaustion. It swung wildly at the soldiers. Lehto ducked, but was impaled through the leg by the sword, sending a fountain of blood everywhere. The Elite's warbling voice tremored through the jungle, easily penetrating the background noise. Lehto screamed dropping his Battle Rifle. The Elite held the soldier over his head, angrily observing him for a split second before his gut was cut open and his head chopped off. The Elite tossed Lehto's body down the waterfall and continued its onslaught. The warrior limped, its leg certainly broken, but it was still fast enough to evade the bullets of the humans.

"Wigginson! It's right in front of you!" Wigginson had been hiding behind a rock that protruded and bent slightly, allowing the Elite to impale him before he could move. Wigginson's scream froze Carl Freer's movement, as he only had an SMG in hand. He stood there as the Elite advanced to him and cut through him as if the sword were sliced through air.

"Yamauchi! Get your Sniper Rifle!" Ellie screamed. Yamauchi was curled into the fetal posistion, blabbering about impending dooom. Ellie crouched and grabbed the Sniper Rifle that lay a few meters away.

"Goddammit Yamauchi!" Ellie lifted the rifle and aimed it, but was too nervous to wield it right.
"Shit," she cursed seeing the Elite plow through three more soldiers with ease, "It can't be that hard to kill." With that, she felt confident, leveling the rifle and pulling the trigger. The bullet seemed slow to her, as the loud noise of the weapon exploded out of its barrel, ejecting the round and the bullet. She could see its tip, and see the trace of smoke that followed. It struck dead on into the base of the Elite's head, causing it to explode. Yamauchi was crying now, whimpering and alluding to many people.

"It's dead, there's no need to worry," she said, as soothingly as possible.

"Dead? Oh God..." Ellie paused and looked at the undying fear in Yamauchi's eyes. Soon, a small buzz entered her ears, growing larger and larger in noise. she turned around slowly and saw the swarm of Drones. Ellie swapped the rifle for her SMG and fired at the swarm, slowly bringing down four, five, six, seven, nine, and then more than ten of them. Her clip ran dry as four of them got in close, attaking her bluntly with their weapons. The lead one bashed its pistol into her helmet, distracting her as the others banged and bit at her armor.

"Shit Yamauchi, help me!" Yamauchi remained stationary as the Drone were soon biting at her flesh. She attempted to fight them off, but now five more had joined the attack. As they bit her, Yamauchi blabbered more, taking his pistol and shooting it at the swarm, but missing every time. Ellie flung herself over the sniper's nest, falling on her side, snapping her left arm. Ellie winced, and screamed, but still sat up.

"Oww! Fuck! Where the Hell did they come from?!" Ellie said, checking her bite wounds and a newly broken arm. The violet sheen of a Phantom dropship came into view, firng its pink shots down on the group of soldiers. The bent rock was slagged under the onslaught.

"Damn, we don't have any rockets left, we can't fight them!" yelled the Captain of the group, Greg Ponobo.

"Fall back! Fall back! Everyone!" Ponobo yelled, and what was left of the squad quickly formed and headed into the vegetation. Ellie couldn't move, she still had shock from the fall. Plasma whizzed by her head, and splashed into the backgrounds. Ellie ducked, resting on her unbroken arm and listening. The heat of battle had ended for now. The Covenant usually searched and destroyed if they couldn't find their opponents. Something was wrong. The dead silence was penetrated by the sound of Brute Shots and Brute roars.

"Damn! Brutes here? Already? I thought they were new! They wouldn't come to this back water world!" Ellie yelled over the grenade blasts.

"They are. I guess the Covenant were fast to use em'. but what the Hell is going on over there?" Static filled her comm speaker for a second before she adjusted it.

"I can't check sir, my arm is broken." Ellie said looking up.

"Yamauchi! You there?" She asked, with no response. "Yamauchi!" Yamauchis body was tossed down by the remainder of Drones, bitten and broken and burned by plasma.

"Ah shit...if you just had more balls..." Hubbs snapped his dogtag off the corpse, there would be no time for burials.

Captain Ponobo sent Private Xeshia Hughs over to Ellie. She would be able to patch her up with some bio-foam. He took his BR55 and leveled it, searching for Covenant.

"You'd think they'd be easy targets with their candy colored ranking system, but oh Hell no," he whuispered over the comm.

"If you see a Brute, run, do not engage, repeat do NOT engage. Understood?" A few acknowledgment winks flashed in his HUD, a recent addition to the military helmet. He crouched, creeping his way to where some of his soldier's body's lay. He shook his head at the two of them, cut down by a seemingly invincible foe. On this world, no reports of victory had been played, it was just hearing of defeat after defeat to them. Footsetps pattered beyond the rock he hid behind. Some cries made it clear they were Grunts--ammo wasters. A bigger ensued, and huge foosteps that were in fullspeed followed.

"We got Brutes everyone," he whispered into his mic. "Hide!" Ponobo kept his back hugging the rock, slowly moving back the other way. His soft steps were padded by soft grass. Slowly, he went, and then tripped over the body of one of his soldiers--Wigginson.

"Shit!" He yelled, giving out his posistion. The Brute then ignored the Grunts and searched for the origin.

"Come out, Human!" It said in disembodied english. He dropped his BR55, switching for the Shotgun. The Brute sniffed at the air, and moved past the rock. Ponobo snuck up and shot it in the back, the shells penetrating its leathery skin. He fired once more, twice more. The Brute was on its knees when Ponobo brought his Shotgun's butt to its neck, splashing blood on his armor and helmet and face. Not sure of what he just done, he fired another shell into the Brute, to make sure it was dead. He couldn't quite believe it. The Brute was his. Dead. His kill. A strong feeling of pride rushed through Ponobo, and if it hadn't been for his training, he would've yelled out for more.

"How's Ellie?" He asked over the comm system, sighing.
"She's okay, but she won't be fighting for at least three hours. At the very least."

"It's just good to know she's alive. How's Yamauchi?"
"Dead. Buggers tossed him down, what's left of him is scorched and bitten. I hope he took as many of those fuckers with him as possible."
"Son of a bitch. Too many dead for just one kill..." Ponobo's pride languished into fear as he contemplated his loss. He still needed to know what was going on in the Covenant however, and continued his advance.

"Karson, Jingin, cover me."
"Affirmiative, sir. We got your six." Ponobo slowly crawled up the hill, past its curve and a pile of rocks. There was an abondoned Covenant turret, humming as its shield shimmered. He continued on, ducking and searching with his eyes. He hoped those Drones were tired in the heavy gravity of this world, they seemed not be moving for now. He could plasma fire and Grunt's wails now, getting closer. There was a huge wall of brush and trees that blocked their view from where they were, but now he could see what was going on. The Covenant was breaking.
