Covenant Frigate Blade of Righteousness Spline Space 10/2/2643
Gold Elite Chrommoroh'zah looked with anticipation at the holo screen of the invasion fleet. 200 Spline cruisers, large shell shaped ships that are organic, and were made of flesh, had thick carapeiced armor over them, were guarding the Spline planet. The Covenant invasion fleet consisted of 643 ships, easily superior to the Spline.
Yet the Spline were known to be tricky.
Chrommoroh'zah never saw a Spline, but he saw a holopanel of them. They were six-legged green insects, taller than the mighty Brutes or Hunters, and were much bigger. They had four glowing green eyes on their carapeiced body. They were uterly rutheless. Their technology was organic based, and was fairly advanced. Their ships had sheilding, and were loaded with energy weapons. They had a dozen or so star systems, and the Covenant would conquer them and absorb them into the conglomerate of races making the Covenant.
The Covenant stopped attacks of the Human worlds, after humans developed superior technology, and drove out the Covenant mercilessly, their ships armed with particle weaponry, capable of decimating ships. They took no prisoners.
The Blade of Righteousness moved in the front of the group. The planet, a green poisoness swamp world, loomed into veiw. The Spline recognized the Covenant ships, and began to form up and charge their weapons. "Load plasma toepedoes, lock onto the lead Spline cruiser", said Chrommoroh'zah. A red elite nodded, and tapped on a holographic symbol. 300 meters away on the blue thick hulled frigate, two red elites received the order, and charged the plasma torpedoes. The hull of the frigate went from light blue to an energetic purple, as plasma charged along the hull and electromagnetic tractor beams locked onto the Spline cruiser. The large bolt of plasma fired, and flew accross space. Three destroyers behind the Blade of Righteousness fired their torpedoes at the same Spline cruiser. The Spline ships came into weapons range and fired their massive energy weapons. Angry lances of red energy flew across space and hit the Covenant cruisers. Three energy shots crippled a Covenant assault carrier's sheilding, and two more caused it to vaporize. The torpedoes hit the Spline cruiser, and it's hull melted from the supercharged plasma.
Finally the Spline cruiser exploded. The Spline ships and the Covenant ships began to exchange fire. Pulse weapons, plasma discharges, plasma torpedoes, and cutting beams from the three dreadnaughts hit the Spline cruisers, while the shell shaped armada fired energy beams. The Covenant were beginning to win, flanking the enourmous Spline ships while the Spline energy weapons cut Covenant ships in half.
The battle was about to end when the red elite on the scanner module reported some drastic news. "Sir, human destroyers forming in sector 765x845x945", said the red elite. A chill went down Chrommoroh'zah's spine. The space miles away from the Spline and Covenant ships boiled, and human destroyers poured out. They resembled the old UNSC ships, except they were more darker, and had wickedly curved short fins along it's hull. The ship was more swept back, making it look like a bird of war rather a starship.
215 human destroyers came out. Chrommoroh'zah remembered these ships. They had superior sheilding, superior weapons, superior energy source, superior computer, everything. Except it's engines and scanners were relativelly equal to Covenant counterparts. The 215 destroyers screamed down into the Covenant formations, and cherry-red proton beams lanced out from their weapons bays. Numerous Covenant ships vaporized by the human heavy weapons. "Sir, Spline cruisers coming from slipstream, 200 in count", said the slipstream officers. The space boiled behind the Spline formations, and 200 more of the enourmous spherical flesh balls poured out, weapons charging. The human destroyers attacked the Covenant, while the Spline flanked them. They were still far away however.
Chrommoroh'zah knew it was utter defeat. The words burned in his throat when he said ,"Take us out of here", but a proton beam struck his ship in the aft section, the kinetic energy of the proton beam slamming into the sheilding, the energy equivalent to a small nuclear bomb. The ship instantly vaporized.
A covenant scout ship, far away from the two fleets, was safely away, and went back to the Prophet's homeworld, reporting what had happened. The cloak ship wasn't the only one there, for a Forerunner scout, completely invisible, watched this fight, and went back to the Forerunner homeworld, 12.5 million lightyears away, reporting this. The forerunners gathered their information, and prepared an invasion fleet of 15.4 million dreadnaughts, large metallic ships armed with anti-matter wepaponry. It would take a while for the Forerunner fleet to be built, so the humans had time to develope. The Humans, 80,000 years later, in their sleek black nightfighters, would one day engage the large Forerunner dreadnaughts.
