"All normal chief. Engines are cooling down and will be ready for use in 2 minutes and 18 seconds."
The Master Chief sat there and though about all that has happened. The destruction of Halo was necessary to kill the Flood and the Convent. And the impact that it will have on the Convent religion will do one of two things the MC thought. One will be that it will cause the Convent to hate the Human race more and be more bent on human destruction, or the other would be that the Convent will not fight as well because of the loss of such a religious figure at the hands of the humans. Either way, the Convent forces are weakened more with the loss. And the Flood? Hopefully those things were only on there and all are gone.

"Chief, are you ok? Some thing on your mind? I detected changing levels in your mind and body."
"Oh nothing. Just thinking about what has happened. Are the engines able to get us going again?" replied the MC.
"Yes chief. We can go to into slipstream whenever you are ready. This Longsword and the others that were on the Pillar of Autumn were equipped with a slipstream engine for pursuit of any Convent ships for the Spartans mission."

The master Chief understood and was impressed with how ONI had helped out on the supplies for the Spartans mission. At least they could get home, where ever that happened to be. Still, some thing was nagging at him. Some thing was off. "Cortana. I want you to scan the area and make sure nothing is around us. look for anything and everything that isn't us."
"Right Chief. Checking now. I am picking up nothing much at all. Just left overs from Halo and normal energy signatures from space. Wait, I am detecting a life pod 3 clicks off our starboard. Sending transmission now.", reported Cortana. The Master Chief always had made sure things were right or set right before he did anything major. The last part of the mission is always dangerous, and the MC knew this from battle experience. Every battle he and the other Spartans have ever been in taught him that as you are getting ready to go, make sure nothing is left that will affect your evac. The MC has seen where the Convent that was in hiding took out a pelican as it was lifting off after picking up marines. Ever since then, the MC made sure the area was very secure before dust off.

"Chief, we are receiving a response for the pod. It is UNSC personal and marines from the Pillar of Autumn. They have been stuck in space for a while and they are just about out of life support and supplies. Requesting pick-up sir." Cortana said.
"Alright then. head in that direction and keep a very open eye and ear out for any Convent. Make sure that this isn't a trap. And also keep a look out for any more UNSC pods and space vehicles that may be in the area."
"Doing so now chief. ETA to pod in 15 seconds. No hostiles detected. Scanning for any UNSC craft. There, one more pod detected. Sending out transmission to pod. We have reached the first life boat and am now opening the back hanger. She's on board sir."
"Check to see if there are any life readings on the other pod Cortana. If there are, lets go get them." remarked the MC. He wasn't about to leave anyone behind that was still alive. No, everyone that was alive and could was going home too. Cortana broke in, "Sir, there is a return transmission from the other pod. 4 are alive and requesting pick-up now. Heading over to the life boat. ETA 20 seconds."
"Alright then. As soon as they are onboard and the pod dumped, take us to the nearest human planet that hasn't been glassed." The chief got up and put on his helmet, walking to the small hanger bay on the Longsword. He wanted to make sure everyone was ok and that nothing was going to be amiss.

As soon as the other life boat was on and everyone was out, the MC dumped the pod, making sure that there was nothing left on it that the Convent could use to find the human worlds and even Earth. He also made sure that any weapons and supplies were taken off of it first along with the other pod from the first pick-up. There were 11men and women total that he and Cortana saved out there. 11 more humans that could fight and defend the human race. 11 more reasons that made the chief feel like he won and for him to go on. With this in mind the chief sat down and relaxed, taking off his helmet and setting it down. 3 of the people that were rescued manned the controls of the Longsword and did a check with the help of Cortana. "This is going to be a long ride. And for sure, this isn't the end of it at all." With that, the MC fell asleep.
