CHAPTER 3 SPARTAN X

Stephen and the team had landed on reach. Half way there Keith woke up rather groggy "don't ever do that again" Keith said.
"Whatever electro fairy" David said back with a grin.
They were escorted to a research facility. There they met a medium sized man with short brown hair and a thick beard dressed in a white lab coat. "Hello I am Dr Klein I am the project director. I've was always a fan of Dr Halsey's work and I'm so exited about this opportunity to create her vision the Spartan X"
The Doctor kept on talking gibberish but Stephen didn't actually understand. Sergeant major Davis entered the room and Stephen left his day dream and stood to attention "Now boys and girls I'm off back to earth to finish training your ex comrades… I'll always remember you guys"
"Aw come on sir don't go all soft on us now" Danny teased.
The sergeant major ignored him and continued "Don't get cocky just cause your gonna become the best the UNSC can offer." He paused "make me proud people, good luck" he saluted his former trainees as senior officers the future Spartans saluted him back he turned and left, the Spartans never saw him ever again.
The Dr smiled "now if I can escort you to your augmentation procedure room"
"Augmentation?" Keith asked "don't you mean freakentation."
"Stow it marine" Stephen warned
"Shut up "sir"" Keith sneered "I'm not doing it. I'm not gonna be a freak!"
Dr Klein stepped in "to put this simply you don't have a choice". It was at that moment Stephen drew his M6D and pressed it against Keith's head.
"A Spartan saved my life once and he gave me this very MA5B" Stephen said pointing over at his beloved ageing gun from across the room "marine we are under orders to do this project get the hell in that room or so help me!"
"No" Keith responded.
Stephen pulled the trigger… click… Keith flinched "you're lucky this time. Disobeying a direct order from the top brass is treason. Treason means death."
Keith scowled.
The future Spartan X's entered the room. There were 5 beds, the Spartans laid down on them they entered a deep sleep. Dr Klein closed the door and handed a list of the drugs and hormones that would enter the Spartan X's body to the leader of the team of surgeons it read:
BONE ENHANCMENTS
A combination of Drug 8942-LQ99 from SIII+ Carbide ceramic ossification of SII the combined effect leaves the bones unbreakable: predicted ability to be hit head on by a warthog traveling 70 mph and still be in one piece also the combined effect of the two procedures increases safety giving a 200% chance of survival
MUSCLE ENHANCEMENTS
A combination of Drug 88005-MX77 from SIII + all muscular enhancement injections of the SII the combined effect will give the already strong "Spartans" the strength to lift at least 5 times their body weight also with a 200% chance of survival.
GROWTH ENHANCMENTS
Unlike previous projects the subjects are already adults; however Catalytic thyroid implant, growth hormones and human puberty hormones will still be added. Effect: A predicted height increase of 2.5 ft survival chances 180% (very very small chance of some limbs not growing).
OPTIC ENHANCMENTS
• A combination of Drug 88947-OP24 of the SIII project + Occipital capillary reversal of the SII combined effect: increase of blood flow to retina to increase distance of which subject can see + night vision and color boost capabilities. 200% chance of survival
EXTRA ENHANCMENTS
Superconducting fabrication of neural dendrites of SII + safety enhancements effect 300% increase in reaction time
• Drug 009762-OO: a mutagen that alters key regions of the subject's frontal lobe. Enhances aggression, strength, endurance, and tolerance to injury. Negative effects include a loss in rational thinking and tactics. This is counter-balanced by the antipsychotic and bipolar-integration drugs. 99.9% safe
• Drug 009927-DG: miso-olanzapine. An antipsychotic. Counters the mutagen's properties. 99.9% safe
• Drug 009127-PX: cyclodexione-4. A bipolar-integration drug. Counters the mutagen's properties. 99.9% safe
