They slowly approached a capitol ship that was not three parsecs out of jump when a transport Phantom launched from it, Michael was afraid this might happen. They were sending a small yet capable ship to crush the human fly, and although he didn't believe they had scanned them, he figured they at least suspected the smuggling of troops or supplies. But instead of opening fire upon the tiny vessel, a comm. request beeped on the newly installed covenant console. Apparently, they detected its radio frequency from the capitol ship. He had his helper answer the call, "State your business for being here humans." a cruel deep voice rang out on the radio. "We have important information on the human resistances defenses," replied his helper. This guy was thinking on his feet, thought Michael, now they at least have a reason for boarding the ship without hassle, but would they believe it?
"I will take this so-called information back to our ship, you will receive payment for it later" said the ships commander, "refuse to hand it over, and you will be destroyed, run and you will be destroyed. If your information is false, you will be destroyed. Am I understood?" "Yeah, sure," said Michael's second man, his voice was distraught and uneasy and the voice on the comm. chuckled, amused at the sound of it. Michael invited the impending doom, he craved it, almost as much as he had craved the destruction of his home colony and it made him stronger.
Suddenly, a series of conformation beeps alerted Michael to his second's activity. He was actually sending some kind of information to the other ship, but he couldn't tell what it was. When he leaned in to see what sort of information was being passed he realized his second was sweating, "Try and relax, I can get us out of this, should it go wrong," he tried to reassure him, then he realized why he was sweating. This man the colony has sent with him was meant to deliver him to the covenant in exchange for leaving their colony in peace. He was being double-crossed in the worst possible way. This man was sending prisoner transport information to the oncoming covies, and Michael was the prisoner.
Although the situation was all against him, he remained a cool head. "Hey," said Michael, "what's your name?" He stood and moved slowly behind him. "Pegasus; Raymond Pegasus," he replied. "I'm sorry to have to do this. I know that you were helping us, but the colony is out of money to give to you. You've become more of a menace to our community than the covenant. Our economic standings have greatly declined since you arrived." "Well Raymond, I hope you left your home prepared to die a hero," and with that he broke the man's neck. Michael then quickly set to work formulating a plan to get himself out of this mess.
[intent]The console beeped once more and the voice rang out, "We have received your information and you are permitted to bring the prisoner onboard." "Understood," Michael did his best impression of his now dead second and the console went silent. He piloted the ship towards the capitol and landed in the ships hangar; hopefully, this plan of his would work. He got into position when he heard the hiss of the door pressurizing. He could hear the sounds of hundreds of elites and grunts on the other side of the door, his heart pounded in anticipation he could hardly contain his composure. The door quickly opened and three grunts armed with plasma cannons climbed the ramp towards him, a big smug smile on his face that said 'this isn't over' smeared across his face.
He moved as they ordered him to, out of the ship and through a series of small corridors, guns always pointed directly at his face ensuring his cooperation. In the next hallway he was suddenly alone with the three middle-class grunts; this is when he decided to make his move. He quickly dove forward and rolled back to his feet. Pulling two of the several throwing knives he had stashed away, turning quickly and nailing two of the grunts in the facemasks causing them to suffocate. He reflexively dodged a plasma blast from the remaining grunt. Drawing a retractable short staff from his coat, he whipped it at the grunts feet and drew his hunting knife. The grunt went down hard onto its front and didn't even see Michael quickly approach and cut its air tube on the fly, rounding the first corner and quickly doing away with some unsuspecting jackals.
His plan was simple, wait for an opportunity to escape custody, use it, and steal a covenant transport while remote detonating the transport ship he came on. The only problem was securing a covenant transport without dying in the process. He had grabbed about a half dozen fragmentation grenades and about a half dozen smoke grenades off the ship to assist in the process, but he doubted it would matter, the amount of troops he saw in the hangar would be enough to make a Spartan flinch. Also, if his suspicions were correct, he would have to cross the entire ship to get to the secondary hangar, the state and location of which were currently unknown.
