Chapter 2 Ejection September 21, 2552

When I woke up the room was a little blurry then it became clear again. I then coughed up phlegm like substance. Then I wiped my mouth. I walked out of the cyro tube. I new today was today the mission was going to take place. I few of my men where still asleep. I then walked over to the changing room and started to put on my military fatigue. At the bridge they would give us our helmets and weaponry. When I came to the bridge everyone was getting the rest of there stuff. I went into the supplies room. It was a storage room on the left side of the bridge. I took my helmet and put it on. I could always distinguish my helmet from everyone else is because it had our names on them in small print on the back of them. I then took my combat pack that had: med kit, ammo, small packages of food and water, and last smoke flares incase of an emergency. Then I acquitted my: combat knife, MA5B assault rifle and a pistol. Within a few minutes everyone was ready. We then we made our way to the docking bay.
There were Pelicans, Troop Supporters and Long Swords. Also there a few other small ships that I couldn't quite recognize even though in training we where suppose to memorize all the names of all the ships in the military for a test. But that was a while back so my memory was a little hazy. We saw a back of a Pelican open. So that had must have been ours. But then I looked and there were many other Pelicans with there backs open. All of a sudden doors opened from every end of the room and soldiers and medics came pouring into the room boarding the Pelicans. Now I realized that there where a lot more of our fellow comrades that where stranded on Halo then I had thought.
Soon all of us where in the Pelicans and ready to go. All of the men at the meeting that day where in the Pelican, and two more.
" Lets role." Said Lieutenant Parker to the pilot in a yell. And then I saw out the front of the ship the air lock started to open. And we where projected out of the Prometheus.
Staring off into the blackness of space I could see all of our ships heading towards Halo. I just sat there. No one was talking, there was complete silence
A few hours passed and I could finally see Halo. I had never seen the planet before up close. It was magnificent just like earth. It had all of earth characteristics. It had its: seas, sky, clouds, deserts, mountains, plains…everything. The bottom part of the planet was shiny silver. It almost had looked like a ship I fit wasn't for the planets top part.
We where in Halo's atmosphere. I was a little scared at this point because a group of Banshees or Ghosts could attack us at any moment, even though our Pelicans were equipped with 1 Chin-mounted 40mm Chain Gun, M247 GPMG Machine Gun Turrets, and 2 HE Anvil Missiles/ Pods.
I few seconds past.
" We have inbound Covenant ships coming! Get ready men!" Yelled the pilot to his men. The three of them where on the Chain Guns ready to fire.
" There at least a couple hundred so make every shot count!" There where at least 120 of us. We where out numbered and outgunned. Just when the pilot on our ship was about to give the command to fire the Covenant fired on us.
Bullets and plasma where flying all through the atmosphere. Ships where going don all over the place and debris was being thrown around like rag dolls.
" Fire the HE Anvil Missiles!" Screamed the pilot as the co-pilot was bringing down Covenant Ghosts. The HE Anvil Missiles hit Banshees below Just then out of the side I could see a stream of plasma flying across the battlefield heading straight for us.
The Pelican swooped down as the plasma came right over us. On my HUD I patched myself into Pelican codename ExodusIV
" How you doing in there. You know you can't die, just follow our ship and we'll take it from there." I said.
" Roger that ExodusV. We got you on screen. Should I round up the rest of the survivors and…." Said ExodusIV right before there transmission went dead. All I could hear is static.
" Damn…damn." I muttered to myself.
The battle ended within a matter of minutes. We had won barley. It went from 120 Pelicans to merely 50. I sighed. The remains of our mission was still at hand. To Search and rescue Marine fallen pods. I sighed again and prayed, prayed for the alive, the wounded and the dead.
