Chapter I, Part I: Without Warning
Date: 18th August 2545
Time: 0930 hours
Location: Pelican dropship, Teritum City, Planet Nazareth II
Dust began to fill the air as a half a dozen UNSC Pelican dropships began their discent into the City center of Teritum. On board each dropship were a dozen ODST's (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) or Helljumpers as their more commonly known. They were the UNSC best special forces corp they had to combat the Covenant besides the Spartan super soldiers. The dropships touch down the troop bay doors opened and out jumped the ODST's. This a more discreet insertion then what the ODST's were used to.
Normally they would be inserted through a planets atmosphere via HEV's (Human Entry Vehiecles. The HEV's were small one man drop pods that released from a orbiting UNSC ship high above the planets atmosphere. The survival is quite low depending on the insertion. Many men and woman have been killed during these insertions. Some of the Pods would vere off course slamming into cliffs and even landing in rivers and lakes, even some pods would also shot by Covenant even landing in heavily controlled covey territory. These landing however almost all the time ended up with casualties.
All the ODST's began to form up into their squads as the drop ships began to lift off. The ODST's wore black uniform and armour instead of the standard issue green uniform UNSC Marines wore. They also wore black helmets that covered the whole head. Their main weapons of choice were the BR55HB SR Battle Rifle and the MA5C ICWS Assault Rifle. Specialist however carried a third weapon. Snipers carried Sniper Rifles and demolishion normally Rocket Laucher and the Spartan Laser and also other explosive materials. Each ODST carried a side arm either a standard M6G pistol or the M7 Submachine gun. ODST's also carried 5 M9 fragmentation grenades. They could carry up to nine extra mags for each weapon depending the armour.
When they were formed into there sqauds, there commander "Captain Briggs" stood in front of them. He began to speak.
"Allright, this is is where will set up our base of operations" he said gestureing to the building behind him. "The rest of the battalion will be arriving here later. Now you's know what you have to do so get crackin"
"Sir yes sir" the ODST's replied together.
The ODST's broke off into small groups and started to get to work on setting up the base. The Captain made his way into the building they were going to use as their base.
"Another day in hell, what could possibly go wrong" the Captain said removing his helmet when he was inside the building.
"Take cover" Briggs heard someones voice called over the com in his helmet speakers.
He looked out of the door he had just entered and saw men running in all directions. "What the hell" he thought. Out of know where there was a massive explosion above his location. Briggs was knocked off his feet. The roof of the building collapsed and Briggs was buried in the rubble. The last thing he heard was the sound of gun shots and plasma fire and then everything went black.

Chapter I, Part II: Without Warning

Time: 0940 hours
Location: Gun pit five, Teritum City, Planet Nazareth II
"Come on get your backs into it, the captain this base up and running in an hour" Sergeant Banks ordered his squad.
He and his squad were setting up some machine gun post.
"What is that?" asked a young ODST private standing up pointing toward the sky.
Banks looked up into the bright blue sky. To his surprise there was a blue orb like object arking across the sky. "Oh shit" Banks thought. He knew exactly what that was. It was a round fired from a Covenant wraith tank. The round started to descend down on his unit's location.
"Take cover!!" he yelled into his mike tackling the private to the ground
Everyone in his unit heard this and started to run for cover. Banks looked up and started to track the round. It was heading for the building that the captain had just entered. There was an explosion and then the top of the building collasped. He couldn't believe this was happening. He looked back down the street. At least a couple hundred covenant infantry were making their way towards he and his squads location.
"Private Collins man that gun" Banks ordered the private he tackle before pointing at the 50Cal.
Banks cocked his Battle Rifle and aimed it towards the Covenant force. Everyone else in his unit had regained their composer and started to take up positions to get a good shot at the enemy.
"Fire!" Banks ordered his men as the Covenant got closer.
Collins opened up with the 50. Banks fire at a trio of grunts who went down quickly. Grunts are the weakest of all the races in the covenant. They are sort of doglike. They normally but travel in packs and are rarely seen alone. They use special breather masks that are attached to a pack on their backs. They cannot breath normall oxygen but instead the breath methane which is found in the atmosphere of their home world.
Within a couple of seconds the forward 3 line of the enemy force went down without a fight. Hot plasma round erupted from the enemies plasma weaponry. Half a dozen ODST's went down and Banks dove into cover to avoid the rounds.
"Jesus Crist, is this how you treat your guests" he yelled ducking out from his cover and fire a couple of rounds at an elite. He ducked back behind cover as a some more rounds whizzed past missing him by centimetres. He could feel his skin blister from the heat from the hot plasma on his skin as they went past.
To his left he saw one his men take a needler round to the upper right thigh. A couple of seconds the round exploded. The soldier drop to ground clutching his thigh with one hand. The soldier got up and strapped his rifle to his back and pulled out his sidearm instead. Two other ODST's primed a frag each and chucked them into the oncoming force. They exploded but killing some covy infantry. This however did not stop the covenant from advancing and they continued forward. They respond by throwing plasma grenades at ODST's. These grenade were deadly and had the to stick themselves to objects and when they stuck, they stuck. One such grenade attached itself to Private collins leg.
"Sergeant get out of here" collins said to Banks.
Banks jumped behind some rubble. There was nothing he could do. A couple of seconds later the was an explosion. Collins was dead.
Banks got to his feet and contiued on with the fight. The battle was going pretty well until an explosion behind Banks sparked his attention. Shit. He had almost forgot about the wraith tank. He looked back down the street. A bluishpurple colour object had appeared behind the Covenant soldiers. The wraith fire two more rounds. This time the rounds hit one of the machine gun pits. Banks coulds hear faint yells of pain as the soldiers in that pit were ripped apart by the explosion.
Banks called to a lone ODST with a rocket launcher. "Take out that tank."
The ODST nodded and fired two rockets at the tank. They hit their target. The wraith exploded into flames killing some nearby grunts and an elite. Now were only couple of enemy left. He emptied clip into a group of Jackals weilding rist shields and plasma pistol. Jackals are a birdlike race in the covenant. Very fast and agile, they are normally use energy shields attached to their wrist. They are also good marksmen when it comes to using the beam rifle. A Covenant variant of the UNSC sniper rifle.
The jackals shields took most of the shock but a few round found their marks. A frag thrown by someone fell behind the group and exploded. Hot metal cut through the unprotected area of the jackals killing them instantly. The battle finally ended. Banks sat down in the hole that was once a gun pit that was destoyed by a plasma grenade killing collins. He removed his helmet. One of the other sergeants that survived the battle was making his way to banks.
"Where's the captain?" the sergeant asked also removing his helmet.
Banks reconised other sergeant as Powers.
"I saw him enter that building just before it got hit by that wraith" Banks replied pointing at the building he saw the captain last.
Banks got up and he and Powers started running towards the remains of the building the captain was last in.
