There is a man. He has always been fighting. He is fighting an enemy that is greater than him. He has been fighting them for years. He was bred for fighting since he was 6.
Serving his planet and his people has been his whole life. His name is John. But most know him by a different name. Even he has nearly forgotten his real name.
He is his people's last hope. Their last guardian. Their last resort.
He will continue to guard them for as long as he needs to. He will even guard his people to his death.
Who are his people? You, me, everyone, us. We are his people. Who is he? He is SPARTAN 117. The Master Chief. John.

He was taken from his home, and his parents when he was just a child. He hardly remembers where he is from. All he remembers is war. And he remembers fighting. And killing. And so many more horrors he has had to endure.
He is the leader of the SPARTANS. Chosen to lead not because he was the strongest, or the fastest, or even the smartest. No, he was chosen because he was the bravest. He was chosen because he was the most determined. He was brave enough to take charge. Determined enough to never quit.
[indemt]He has had to kill his fellow humans. He has had to watch his members of his team die before his feet, while he, their brave leader, was powerless to help them.
He has had to kill an alien menace, the Covenant. They are his current enemy. He has had to watch them slaughter innocent people. He has watched them kill entire worlds.
And yet, after enduring all this, he has continued on. He has never quit. He has never been afraid. Ah, but that is why he is a leader. That is why he is humanity's last guardian. Our last guardian.

And there is a guardian of the Master Chief's enemy. Or at least he was the Covenant's guardian before they brutally cast him out. Before they pushed him aside. He is the Arbiter.
Little is known about him. Not even his true name is known.
He was disgraced by the Master Chief, as he tried to defend the Covenant's holy relic. He was marked as a treitor, a Heretic, because he let the ring-world Halo be destroyed by the Master Chief, and watched as it was lost.
It was then that he was named the Arbiter. The protector of his religion. But as he fought the true heretics, he began learn of his leader's, the Prophets, deception, and lies.
But then there was a chance for redemption. Another Halo had been found. But as he recovered the key to activating Halo, he and his entire race, were cast out of the Covenant. They were replaced by the Brutes, a boorish, fanatical race. The Brutes were new additions to the Covenant, but they quickly won the Prophets' favor.

Then both the Arbiter and the Master Chief were sent by the mysterious being Gravemind, to stop the activation of this new Halo.
The Master chief was sent to the Covenant holy city, High Charity. There he pursued the Prophet of Truth. Now he is on a ship built by the Forerunners, whom the Covenant consider to be gods. He is head to Earth, along with Truth, and a Covenant armada.
And the Arbiter was sent to the new Halo to stop it's activation. He followed Tartarus, the leader of the Brutes, to the control center of Halo. There he fought a long battle which ended with the death of Tartarus. Once Tartarus was slain the activation of Halo was stopped.

Now the Arbiter and the Master chief are working side by side. They may not know it, and they may not like it but they are working torward the same goal.
They are both working to save the universe. To save their people. they are both working to stop the Prophets.
Who knows what will happen to them? That, and more, will be revealed in Halo 3.

Hi this is RAWPOWER95, and I want to thank you for reading this, and tell you why I wrote it. I wanted to tell the story of the Master Chief and the Arbiter in a different way from what everyone has seen before. I also wanted to drum up anticipation for Halo 3 (that's why I put in that last sentence). So this is kind of a trailer for Halo 3/ a summerization of the Chief's and the Arbiter's stories.
If you didn't like it, or think I could have written it better, I'm sorry, I'm not much of a writer!
If you have any ideas for future articles or stories please email me.
Thanks again.
Sincerly
