Darkness clouds the sky as from a trillion miles away
A scattered message finds me, and its secrets doth relay
Her face beyond the static, I see before it's gone
I regret my decision to leave her there, of her what has become?

The torn and tortured landscape stretches 'til horizons end
I look about the ravaged plain upon which I do stand
I almost feel the amber winds as they brush against my side
Through wreckage and through rubble, I never slow my stride

My faithful weapon in hand I emerge from the fallen frame
Her face returns, a cryptic response, my mind whispers her name
The black mist fades, the static departs I see my destination
I breathe in deep and ready myself without fear or hesitation

I pause to sight the scene before and the fiends swoosh through the sky
The majestic sight of Sol's retreat pushes the thought of her from my mind
I venture to the chasms edge as the sky exerts control
Movement below, a rumble of wind, glowing light; can this be all?

The bulbous craft the centre flee and likewise part the sides
Fissures form – another gap? – we may soon find what they hide
A droning buzz and a geyser of purity from the structure emanates
Divided beliefs the Ark has instilled, does it destroy or does it create?

A world apart my companion and I, are we still fighting the same war?
Has she stood true in the face of adversity or forgotten what we fight for?
All thoughts but that from my mind are expunged as the light now encompasses all
The Covenant, the Humans, my Spartans and her; as one shall we all fall?

Alea Iacta Est...
