Die With Honor

By: ArbitersAid

Hey this is my first fanfic ever. I'm not very good at writing but this story of mine has been in my mind for a long time now, so I have decided to put it into words in type so others can see my vision. Please review, praise, flame I don't care just review.

The Master Chief ran as fast as his augmented body allowed him to. He and the last Spartans had been sent back to the surface of Earth for one last stand. Unlike the first time the Covenant attacked Earth this time they came in force. This time they were going to finish the job.

After stopping the activation of the Halos the Chief and a small group of Elites lead by the Arbiter had helped him kill truth. After that most, of the Elites and their allies rejoined the Covenant thinking things would return to the way they were. They were wrong. After they had resettled into their places the Brutes slaughtered them all in one night as they slept. The Brutes did not kill the Hunters and Grunts knowing their further usefulness. Luckily the Arbiter hadn't rejoined the covenant. He knew what would happen. The Arbiter had convinced a few Elites to ally themselves with him and the humans to avenge their lost comrades who had died at the hands of the Brutes. Those Elites and the Arbiter joined the Spartans as a special operations force. They fought with the Spartans and died with the Spartans. They fought for the humans as their adopted kin, since the Brutes had slaughtered every Elite except the Arbiter and his Elites. They had fought the covenant with the Spartans for years until the only Elite left in the universe was the Arbiter.

The Chief ran with all his might to get to cover. He was now the last Spartan, and he was alone. Everyone else had died only minutes ago at the hands of a new enemy. The Chief had never fought anything like this before. It had killed the other four Spartans with one strike and killed the Arbiter with the Elites own sword.

The creature was about the size of a Hunter and had the same orange flesh, but that wasn't a weak point like on the Hunters, this thing seemed invincible. Its body shape was humanoid. That is, at the moment it was. This creature was able to reshape itself in seconds into whatever form it wanted. The behemoth had small scale-like bits of armor over its whole body. Whenever it changed its form it would rearrange the armor scales to better protect its body. What was worse was that it had two of the plasma rod cannons Hunters usually carried positioned on its shoulders. The Chief had thrown everything he could at the creature but to no avail every time he put a hole in it, plasma, bullets, grenades, even plasma swords, it just reformed itself around the wound.

The Chief was out of options.

He was almost out of ammo, alone, and the enemy had surrounded him. He knew this was the final battle for the human race. After all he had fought for, and his brothers and sisters had died for it was all in vain. The Humans were done.

He knew he was going to die soon. There was no avoiding it. He recalled what had happened up until this moment. He and his team had set down in Tokyo and had fought for three straight days trying to retake the city. They failed. They were surrounded and they fell back until they were all back to back firing and killing the enemy. He had thought that if they could hold out for a few minutes they would be able to call for evac. For a while it seemed like they might make it out alive, but then it showed up.

They were fighting a small yard with an extremely old shrine to the back and a modern home to the front. The Chief had taken cover in the shrine. He decided that this was a good place to die seeing that to one religion or another this place was sacred. He pulled out two SMG's and prepared himself. The creature started to approach the shrine.

"Show yourself Demon!" Roared the orange killing machine. "Come and fight me like a warrior! You will die at the hands of the mighty Roskatee but at least you can die with honor!" The Chief heard the alien's words and decided that the thing was right. He couldn't win this battle. But he would not die without taking this juggernaut of a creature with him.

The Chief walked out of the shrine and looked at Roskatee. He held his SMG's ready, pulled the triggers, and gave a final battle cry.
