-This is a conclusion series of Heretic Hero. I decided to write for success and persuasion from a certain author. ; ) In HBO. I have a few references to my friends, I am naming a Grunt after one of my friends at NHS, Alex or Aliz in here. Role of Sayare, from my "In progress" series, Lowliest of Hierarchy. And I have mention of Ralis 'Rahanammee from my other series, The Unity of Repent. Also a reference to my ally and official critic, Greek Elite. His main character who is a Heretic, just like my main character, is Alei 'Limoto a Elite that joined Humanity against the Covenant and will lead his squad to a improved destiny. This, my fellow authors and writers is the return of Hydra-

FYI-I suggest you read the Heretic Hero series before reading on, you will not understand the plot but I will make it easier to newcomers on my stories. And for the other readers of my stories, I have decided to use the "Human-given" names for the Covenant. Less complicating, less confusing and less to type.

Also…
Read Alien Brethren, by the Greek Elite it is an impressive story and has an intense plot.

And Finally…

-READ AND ENJOY-

Why can't we all just get along?

The fleet of the Heretics moved with a fearful serenity, floating through the valleys with a buzzing wrath. Inside the Council chamber a gathering of the remaining Councilor Elites amassed in silence, passing whispers and glances to the one in the center platform…

"What is my penalty, noble Councilors?" The Heretic asked.

The veiled Council hissed briskly to each other in the shadows, as the leader of the Council raised his mandibles and spoke in a compassionate tone.

"We understand you had no inception of their intent, but owing to your lack of dedication for delivering our brothers you will be stripped of accompanying troops. Your divided insight will clear your wrongdoing"

The Heretic Hero in the center of all the anger and pity, sighed and he raised his head to the council.

"Thank you, Excellencies, your compassion exceeds any Prophet." The Elite faltered quietly.

One of the Council members shifted in the stands, he had a skeptic look on the "Hero" in the center. He could no longer contain silence…

"It is because of your kind that we have been broken from the Covenant!" The Councilor growled at the Hero.

The Hero stopped himself from leaving, as the arguments lingered in the shadows.
"It is because of the Covenant, fool! The Prophets have denied us the Great Journey for a resentment, not because of Heresy!" Another Councilor argued from the opposite end of the stands.

The Heretic Hero stood in the center and fought to still himself from complaining.

"We are broken, divided from nine ages of bliss!" The member roared from the stands.

"It was bliss we sought, not went through!" The Heretic's supporter growled back.

"Order! We are Heretics! The ones who compelled us to see the truth, we are one of them! The Prophets wanted them silenced, why? Because of the truth, my brothers!" The leader bellowed from the center dais.

"The ages you speak of were squandered by lies! We have entered a new age, one of civil war and betrayal! This is the Age of Treachery!" The leader shouted again, the echo gave a stealing anger but accepting in the council.

With a hasty stance, the Heretic Hero walked from the chamber. Politics were not his most cherished attainments. The Hero opened the door, ignoring the stares and continued arguments from the council.

Gala 'Gammamee or Hydra as he designated himself as, clenched his palms and threw down his concerns. The Elite was a sturdy being, obliged to carry on Heresy and bestow loyalty to the Councilors.

The Elite had a very distinct set of armor from the rest of his brothers. Instead of the traditional armor that the Covenant made, he had a custom variation. The armor was crimson and had scriptures of Heresy markings on the plates of his shoulders and helmet.
His helmet was parted, revealing his mandibles and his ashen eyes.

This Elite was very forgiving, but very deadly in combat. As a Elite he once carried the affliction of embracing the Covenant. Long ago… Hydra contented himself with a conflict of the Great Journey. He remembered thinking about what the Great Journey would accomplish and what was the exhilaration they would obtain.

The conflicts and thoughts that drove him to chase the Heretic way…

As a follower he was accepted into the Heretics with open arms. He became the Heretic Leader's successor that would soon be unrecoverable.

His battles against the Covenant were grim to think about. He hated to slaughter his kind, even when they were blind of the bliss.

The Elite rushed to the gravity transits that shifted from ship to ship. He approached the transit and he saw a transparent sheet of white that flashed as he neared. By the shimmering cup that transferred troops to and from the Marauder, waited two of Hydra's closest allies.

"'Rahanammee? Sayare? What are your doing here?" 'Gammamee asked, but really didn't care. He felt he needed familiar faces to help him grip the situation.

The Elite and Grunt both reacted by instincts and curiosity. Each had histories that they tried to hide, just like Hydra.

"What happened?" 'Rahanammee questioned the Elite.

"Tell, Leader!" Sayare said excitedly.

Hydra poured his grief; his best troops would be transferring to this ship already, but his SpecOps Field Master, 'Rahanammee, he would have to lose.

"They will not let me keep my troops, I keep Effectual Chastity"

"I keep Sayare as he is my assistant and I keep my command band. I have failed you, brother. You deserve better." 'Gammamee spoken placing his palm on the mighty Elite's shoulder.

"No, I will take my plead to the Councilors, they must let me stay under you, 'Gammamee" 'Rahanammee said confidently.

"Do what you must, brother." 'Gammamee mustered his zeal and ushered the Elite ahead.

The former Unity of Repent leader, walked to the council chamber. 'Rahanammee had brothers that were all betrayed by the Prophet of Regret. Hydra shuddered at their story, the releasing of the Flood and the start of the civil war. 'Gammamee knew that 'Rahanammee knew everything about the front, and he was his most treasured Field Master.

"We going to ship, Leader?" Sayare asked keeping his hoof steady.

Hydra stepped through the transparent door; the white energy rushed through his crimson armor letting the Elite feel a whirring in his body. Sayare followed and the Grunt punched the sequence of Covenant arrays, still looking at his leader.

"Yes, Sayare. We will dismiss our troops, we might as well give them glory for their fights" Hydra said looking through the white door, down into the shimmering lake where Forerunner metal streaked azure.

The Marauder slowly began to slip away; the transit approached Hydra's assault carrier, Effectual Chastity. The transit washed into the blue energy and locked into a clamp. The muster bay opened, while troops transferred into their common armor and got into other transits.

Hydra stepped out and the Elites and Grunts stopped their bustling and watched their former Leader expecting a dismissive speech. Hydra gave a beckoning nod and they all listened.

"My brothers, we have come to a new age. The tide of battle is not life, we have faith and that should be our leading privilege. But failure has interrupted my faith, and as my punishment you are to be discharged from my ship. Yet, we are a brotherhood, incised into a society and forced to bond into a Covenant. We have broke, although we should rely on each other" Hydra said, the echo throughout his ship emitted a silence.

"Go now my brothers, and raze the Covenant, for disloyalty upon our kin!" The Elite finished.

Without waiting for applause or disapproves from his troops he quickly walked to the command chamber. The Elite felt regret, he wished he could go back and correct his speed, but it was the Covenant that impeded him. And he finally saw that it was not his failure it was theirs…

'Gammamee broke into the chamber, the scriptures on the crests of the terminals were cleansed with new ciphers regarding the position of the Fleet, Resolute Shroud. Hydra was lucky he got to keep his bridge crew, and Sayare. All his infantry was disabled however, and he waved at the crew for their acceptance to stay with him.

The command chamber was filled with tiers and dais that held benches and palisades, with small elevators and whirring terminals. He stepped into the elevator and up he went into the primary palisade.

Sayare raised, and the Elites at the terminals continued with the maneuvering of the ship's gravity. Hydra walked to the violet projector in the center of the base, he imbedded his palm into the cyan circle and sparks followed.

The circle was checking his blood, the sparks pinched his skin and he rasped pain. When the cyan turned white and the screen in the middle designated him as the Ship Master he turned to his assistant.

"Connect me with the Council, Sayare" He commanded as he postured himself.

The Grunt abruptly placed his nimble fingers in the pellucid terminal and inside the projector an image stood.

"Noble one?" Hydra said into the projector.
"Yes, Hydra?" The Councilor uttered spreading his mandibles in a puzzling look.

"Request permission for a patrol, I am looking for a fight, Excellency" 'Gammamee said speaking his mind.

"Accepted, as you wish, break from Resolute Shroud. Chase them, Brother"

It was the first time the Councilor spoke without conferring rank, they were one, brothers.

Hot Pursuit

'Rahanammee approached his leader and his assistant, he trusted 'Gammamee with his life. Hydra, he admitted to himself he was a replacement to his brothers in the Unity of Repent. Around 'Gammamee there was no void, where anger and sadness filled, there was faith.

"I will follow you despite this exchange, Hydra" 'Rahanammee growled. "I have taken my cause with the Councilors and they have positioned me on your ship." He said, confiding his arm to his chest.

Hydra sighed into his mandibles. "Thank you, brother but no one serves under me anymore from now on I dropped my rank, I travel on my own conformity. I will be there when the Heretics are needed, when doom is nigh, and when we are forsaken by what was ours"

The Elite concluded that was the best option, one last cruise, one last fight, and one chase. Although this was just the beginning he felt the Field Master was his best rank, he could be free and entrust himself to battle with his brothers. 'Gammamee knew after this patrol, he would have to concur with the councilors for his pull and resignation.

"I understand, 'Gammamee. Tyranny and cruelty will demolish the Covenant as they have shown us that same oppression" 'Rahanammee growled.

"Where we going then, leader?" Sayare asked the Elite.

"Take the Effectual Chastity out toward the gorges" Hydra commanded his crew.

They clicked the terminals and in a few units the ship broke from the fleet, the Effectual Chastity sped out of the cove and into the sky.

All of a sudden a blip ruptured the glossy screens. Hydra read a bastion of Covenant troops on a fiery gorge. The island broke into gorges that had structures piled on top of each other, in the center was a snowy mountain where fire spewed from a Forerunner spire.

Over the Forerunner version of a volcano there was a single Covenant carrier, it's radiating gravlift shining down onto the spire where Hydra saw tiny dots of Brutes descending into the tower.

"Fall back, and make sure were not detected, brother" He said gesturing to the command Elite.

"We're going in, 'Rahanammee gear up and meet me in the release bay, we go down in pods, Sayare manage the Effectual Chastity" Hydra commanded to his broken crew.

The command Elites turned from their floating seats, and looked at their Ship Master as if he were impaired. 'Gammamee ignored them he knew the Grunts watched the Elites for ages, commanding ships in battle and out and he compiled his faith that Sayare would manage.

"Yes-s-s, Leader!" Sayare stuttered.

Hydra nodded at the Grunt and he walked out of the command chamber with 'Rahanammee, he saw a container of Covenant weapons being carried by an Elite to the command chamber. Hydra grabbed his traditional weapon, Covenant Carbine.

He released a projectile and locked it into the dwelling of the gun. The carbine interacted with his instincts and he walked to the release bay.

"Are you carrying any additional support, Hydra?" 'Rahanammee questioned, baring his Energy Sword with a mighty grasp.

"No, we go together, we hit them in a single stir." Hydra said.

"What about stealth?" 'Rahanammee asked.

"No, I prefer pride to kill and reveal then to remain camouflaged" Hydra answered.

"No offense to the Unity of Repent" He quickly added, not wanting his brother to get upset.

"None taken, Leader. They were my brothers but their praise was hailed, thanks to you, Hydra." 'Rahanammee mouthed emotionally, his broad shoulders arched into a righteous stance and he got back on the objective. "Your orders, Leader?"

"Certainly, 'Rahanammee, they were the boldest of warriors and their glory will reign in every battle you face" Hydra grunted, the Elite consented and continued toward the pods. "We have discovered from the projection that a squad of Humans and Elites are repelling them from the island, from the battle array, the lesser Prophet in charge of this ship refers to the island as the Ravine" Hydra muttered.

"Who is fighting on this Ravine?" 'Rahanammee inquired.

"A Elite veteran, a Heretic before the Civil War even began. He joined the Humans to see the validity in the Great Journey. Alei 'Limoto, the very avenger of our kind. He holds vengeance very close as he is very effective in battle, but I have decided to help flank his foes" Hydra informed his brother.

"The traitor…? He has betrayed the Covenant and joined the Humans, his honor is spent, leader" 'Rahanammee said through gritted teeth.

"He is an alleged Field Master, and he needs assistance. His squad is repelling the Brutes from the tower, his assistant; a Grunt named Kaskut is inside what we believe is a communications enclosure in the volcanic spire. Kaskut is an amazing engineer and has repaired the transmission disarray from a battle. He is calling for additional support, and we shall aid them." Hydra advised the Repent Leader.

They reached the pods located at the base of an annex, the pods were locked into the walls, and turquoise energy locked the pods into the metal and inside was white comforters that kept the Elite within quite commodious.

The two Elites locked themselves inside the pods. 'Gammamee steeled himself for the drop below.

"We fall to aid our brother!" Hydra said through the array in his helmet.

"Let them heed our fire" 'Rahanammee mumbled.

'Gammamee pushed the drop arrow on the terminal, and all of a sudden they quickly expelled from the ship. The Elite felt confined, the pod streamed into a rainy cloud and down into the island below.

The pods descended and landed in a clearing below the spire. Hydra kicked the door and the metal slant broke into an icy pair. 'Rahanammee emerged and ignited his sword looking at the pillars surrounding them while gritting his teeth.

Hydra aimed his Carbine at the enormous ramp going up the spire, a trench of hot slag sluggishly washed a Brute away from the grass. They landed on a battlefield, probably where Alei had approached.

The battlefield consisted of no Heretics but of Brutes and Drones. Hydra's tracking instincts appeared and he pointed at the smoldering ground.

"Hunter blood" The Elite gnarled.

He traced the blood to the fallen Covenant corpses. The Brutes had large gashes in them--Alei and his Energy Sword. And another Drone had a plasma burn in its wing, probably Plasma Pistol work--from a Grunt because the aim was off. And another shot Hydra didn't recognized right away.

"This Brute, what kind of projectile killed it?" Hydra asked 'Rahanammee.

There were slender holes that looked like dabs into the Brute's head. Then Hydra acknowledged the projectile into the head.

"Human Sniper, work of Sergeant John Baxter" Hydra declared before 'Rahanammee answered.

"The one who persuaded Alei to join them?" 'Rahanammee asked tilting his head at the fallen Brute.

'Gammamee nodded his head and walked over the steaming bodies. The slag steeped a puddle nearby and the vapor hissed at the bodies of the Drones and Brutes as they were getting carried into the puddle by the magma.

"Onward, brother" Hydra ordered.

They made their way up the ramp into the spire; trenches and moats of lava seemed to give the spire energy. The lava had tiers of creeks that spun into a discordant fan in the center of the entrance. The lights were the eerie colors of scarlet and blue from the slag and water cooling it into hardened slabs.

In an impetuous moment, from the entrance and the fan door Brutes emerged. Brute Shots readied and Brute Plasma Rifles raised they quickly shot at the interloping Elites.

Hydra reacted instantly; he aimed his nose at the Brute and fired hot green at the Brute's skull. In a flash the helmet was flung and the Brute dropped to the floor in a heap of his maw. He saw to the corner of his apt eyes 'Rahanammee slash a Brute to the floor.

Just as more Brutes approached roaring war cries 'Gammamee noticed that under the door was a glass slat that contained fresh lava. When 'Rahanammee recognized Hydra's expression he quickly moved to the left.

Hydra lowered his Carbine and shot the glass and quickly ignited a plasma grenade. It detonated and the molten embers burned and comsumed the Brutes. The Elite's shield however sustained the blow...

They continued through the door and briskly paced to get to the Elites...

Doom was nigh...
