Trapped Chapter 2: Base
Date: 23 May 2005, 4:01 AM

"Well for starters we are low on food and water, and fatigue is great in us", said a disgruntled ODST, he was breathing heavily just like the Colonel next to him. Three days on small rations and a total of twelve hours of sleep to boot. "You wouldn't happen to have food with you would you", asked a second ODST, he two was tired and thirsty.

"No, none of us have food, we weren't expecting to be trapped in this city", said the Colonel, who also was hungry now that he knew he wouldn't be able to have food for awhile. It was that natural human instinct to want something when you couldn't have it and it really pist him off. "Well let's get a head count to see where we stand right now". He counted thirteen heads, counting his, and thirteen wasn't a lucky number.

"Well what are we going to do Colonel, while we are hear we might as well get something accomplished, eh", said the ODST, he was from Canada and his services have brought have all around the universe, but he never expected to be in Texas at all. He was tall and well built. When he graduated from school he went straight to the army. He is formally known by most people as Captain Henderson, but his closest friends and his squad mates call him Printer. No one is sure how he got the nickname, it just kind of came on.

"Yes, we should try and wreck as much havoc as we can, but not push our limits", agreed the Colonel looking up and hearing the Covenant above them, searching for the disappeared humans. "But for the moment, we should get away from here."

"Right, we found a great place to lay low and get sleep while on recon", said Printer already taking off down the sewer hall. There wasn't any light in this narrow place, so the Marines had to use flashlights to see their way. They went in a single file line. As they started to get tired Printer decided they were far enough away from ground zero they could walk the rest of the way. "And him over there," he referred to the other ODST, "his nickname is Sub-Zero, because he likes frigid environments."

"So, Colonel, any of your boys have nicknames, or are you strictly professional," asked Printer, he had obviously had command of his men for a while and the loss of his men haven't shaken him yet, he was a well-trained professional.

"Yes, my nickname is Colonel, and that one there is Legend," he pointed to a Marine who was tall, but not too tall, he was well built, and strong. "He got the name from high school football. And Private Allen came with him and we call him Shorty." It was clear why he was Shorty, he was only five foot eight, but he two kept in great shape after high school. "Those last two right there, I gave them their nicknames, Fred and Bart, because they are idiots. The rest are just under my, but those usually are with me where I go. I also lost four of my regulars in the crash." Printer looked genuinely sad, because he too knew what it was like to lose men.

They continued to walk down the corridor, groups of men in talking quietly. After all they had been through today, they felt somewhat relaxed. That was shattered though when a group of Elites was roaming the corridor, no doubt looking for them. "This will be no problem," said the ODST sounding over confident that they would win. The Colonel didn't have much time to react before he saw two M-9 Frag Grenades hurling through the air at the enemy. The ODSTs had thrown them as though it were routine, which it probably was. The blow up in half-second intervals and the Elites were left shield less. The ODSTs fired three quick and decisive rounds in each Elites head. Blood splattered onto the wall and the Elites fell to ground. They were dead before the Marines could shoulder their weapons.

"So what do you do with these, they are bound to come looking for them when they are missing," said the Colonel sounding worried that larger groups would come looking for them. "Don't worry, just grab a body," said Printer already picking one up. Other Marines grabbed the other two. "We simply make it look like we fought them on ground level."

They found a hatch and set it up in an elaborate set up, but very quietly and very discreetly. When they were done they finally made it to the hide out, and decided to discuss a battle plan, if at all possible to have a battle plan.
