The fall of the covenant Part 1(of 3)

10 years after the end of the invasion of earth Spartans were the bulk of the human forces and had turned the tide of the war. After many defeats the covenant retreated into space back to their home world. The master chief is now the grand general of the armies of Earth and now gets ready for the fight of their lives as after many campaigns have finally found the covenant home world.
The time was now and the fleet of Earth had been rebuilt and was ready to fight the covenant again. The fleet was now already moving towards the Covenant home world and would get there in 1 hour. The master chief addressed his men in a massive hall on a ship.
"Men this is it we will finish what they started 15 years ago, we will show them that we will not be wiped out without a fight we will not run, we are going to live on.
And finally they reached the covenant home world
"This is the captain all army personnel get to loading stations" And so the men moved into their drop ships and got ready. "Alright men we are going in with the first wave you smash the entire area you kill anything that isn't human, AM I RIGHT MARINES"
"SIR YES SIR"
Meanwhile on the bridge things were a little worst.
"Captain we are taking heavy fire there firing from the planet"
"Launch the fighters tell the landing crews to take out those guns"
"Yes sir"
The landing craft were approaching the surface.
"Drop ship 2 did you see banshees"
"Negative drop ship 5 I don't see any"
"Nooooo this is drop ship 7 going down"
"Did you see that"?
The landing craft touched down.
"Go go go act like you got a purpose marines"
"1st platoon left flank"
They went up the rocky hillside when they saw the first covenant they did not see the marines it was a anti ship gun firing at the ships above.
"OK men fleet has given us orders to take out any anti-ship guns we find, Lieutenant Jenkins take you squad to the right of the complex and we will create a diversion get inside and take out all enemy's"
"YES SIR"
"OK MOVE OUT"
So the marines moved out as Jenkins approached the complex the Major had opened fire on the complex.
Jenkins got inside the complex undetected but it didn't stay that way him and his men were pinned down behind some random workstations.
"Lieutenant what the hell should we do"
"GRENADE" it went off killing Jenkins and 2 other men
"Screw this ill show these slit face squid heads something"
With that he unleashed the biggest load of fire possible he went through 5 clips before he had finished and said
"I think were done" this marine was called private Steele.
They took out the gun and moved on
"What happened to Jenkins private?" said the Major
"He was killed sir, grenade"
" OK men heres the deal we are falling behind we are going to link up with the 43rd tank armoured division we will meet them at point Bravo 22 just as planned OK lets move out"
So the whole division moved out the next morning, all the men felt weird about the alien planet it was mostly desert and rocky. They reached point Bravo 22 but the tank division was not there.
The major picked up his radio "this is 65th marine division we are at point Bravo 22 does anyone read"
"Roger that this is the 43rd we are under heavy fire and will be there shortly"
"Roger that, Lieutenant Steele get over here"
"Yes sir"
"OK I want defensive positions set up I think the covenant might attack us here"
"Roger that sir"
15 minutes later the major was getting impatient but that wouldn't matter.
"COVENANT COVENANT" shouted a marine
All the marines opened fire on the advancing covenant.
"Major we cant hold them theres to many"
"WE will hold them just keep firing those goddam rifles"
"WAAAHHHOOOOOOO" 5 Warthogs came over the hill along with 10 tanks.
"Tanks lay down a base of fire" The tanks opened fire one the covenant as the Warthogs sailed through the amassed crowd of covenant like a boat sailing across the sea.
"Major we got to you as soon as we could" said the tank commander
"No worries colonel just try to be on time next time"
So all the marines and vehicles went to the newly formed command base where they were given there next task.

Fall of the covenant

Well the time was now. They were approaching the first covenant city and were afraid of heavy losses while fighting an urban war. The Grand General (MC) had issued orders that whether there were woman and children it didn't matter the orders were clear KILL ALL WHO ARENT HUMAN. Most of us couldn't complain as they murdered so many innocent people in the invasions of Earth. But at the time I knew my men were ready but we had no idea how many covenant were concealed within the city.
The major came out to address his men "Hello we have just received orders from the general himself and he has ordered us to invade the city, now we are expecting heavy losses and I cant promise I will bring you all home alive but if we have to give these slit head, squid head bastards our lives we give them hell before we do", it was a strong speech which as I noticed drove my men forward but how would they react under fire I was about to find out.
As lieutenant Steele walked with his men they encountered there first resistance they were being fired at by a Wraith tank "Sir their dug in over in that building what should we do", As his private looked at him for guidance. " Ok", Steele picked up his radio "This is the 65th marine division we are held up at sector B 18 we need aerial bombardment", "ROGER that coming in hot", The men watched the fireworks as their enemy's were blasted away. "OK now I want first squad to move in on the right and second on the left am I clear", "sir yes sir", they advanced down the battlefield and the human snipers recon the skyscrapers that the covenant had created. As they approached the first street corner they noticed an awful sight. A huge group of covenant were moving up but they put women and children covenant in front of them to cover them. At that time I realised why the Grand general had issued these orders. "Steele's men looked at him and he responded "We have to follow orders", and so they opened fire on the covenant, they had little choice but it had to be done. That group was destroyed "OK marines we re going to move to the next corner I want squad one to cover the left corner and squad two to cover the right OK move out", They slowly advanced but this was halted quickly "AMBUSH", someone shouted and they came under fire from ghosts and a huge number of covenant soldiers and to there horror they noticed in the blue sky that a pelican had been shot down. The marines quickly moved into a small building where the covenant could not reach them. As the covenant isolated them in the building something happened they did not expect, a whole platoon of Spartans fell back into the same building. "Spartans what are you doing here"; one Spartan replied "Same as you we are in the path of a major offensive and we could be stuck here for a long time"' so Steele replied "Well we better balance out our forces we are surrounded from both sides of the building", "good idea lieutenant OK I want 9 of you on the right side other nine stay here"'
But the situation was getting worst, 3 battalions of covenant were advancing through the hills and towards the Human CP. The remaining marines began to say their prayers, as they did not expect to survive this battle. And the covenant tried to attack the building, they were using everything they had to flush the helpless marines out and the building was shaking violently. What could the marines do nothing. All they could do was pray, Steel took of his helmet in dismay but he quickly put it on again "Sir there trying to come in the left side", He ran over and fired his weapon down the hallway and the covenant ceased but so did one of his marines. And so the first casualty had happened. Steel picked up his radio "Is there anyone out there we need evac now", " roger this is echo 515 incoming we have your position". Lucky for Steele the building had a accessible roof "OK marines we got a drop ship inbound to pick us up we will collapse upstairs and cover the stair way", and his men followed, the covenant didn't realise what had happened and went inside checked it out and didn't bother to look upstairs because they were all called to the frontline because the humans had ambushed their advance. And so the pelican came over and picked them up and as they were going over the battlefield the witnessed the killings of the women and children as well as the covenant soldiers.
When they reached the CP they were well taken care of and the Grand General himself came to see them "Hello marines you put up a brave fight", "Where is my division", Steele snapped
"I'm afraid your it we couldn't afford to lose all our forces because we weren't sure if they would counter attack" "So you used my division as guinea pigs in this war, well how humane of you I'm glad that you would sacrifice all those men just to confirm a little bit of Intel well screw you", "Look I understand your pain but this is a war and we are soldiers and everyday I make decisions that send hundreds of people like you to their deaths. I have seen the worst, when I made off halo I was the sole survivor of an entire ship now you telling me that you have it bad", The Grand General just walked away. Steel was left motionless he couldn't even speak.

ENDGAME
As the newly appointed major Steele walked through a taken covenant city he witnessed the mass graves for the covenant soldiers and woman and children. Him and his men just casually walked down the road. But his men couldn't believe how many corpses their were there must have been millions. But now they were on their final mission. Most of the covenant home world had been taken but there was one fortress, which was impregnable to human attacks. It was so well built that not even bombing raids could defeat it. Lucky for the humans one weakness was found, a small tunnel underneath the base was found and that's where Steele and his men come in they would infiltrate the tunnels go behind and literally open the front gates for them at least that was the plan.
"OK men we are moving underground we will infiltrate the covenant fortress and open the gates and try to disrupt there defences as long as possible, are we ready marines", and they all replied in the old fashioned sir yes sir. The tunnel was located exactly 1 mile away from the fortress in a small hill. "OK lets move in", after they were dropped off by pelicans they moved into the tunnel which was there. "I don't see anything down the tunnel", and they proceeded cautiously down the dark and gloomy passage. They could not have been half a mile down when there in a huge hall they saw the impossible a huge army of covenant hundreds of thousands marching together into an interconnecting tunnel, which they assumed, led to the surface. They carried on moving as they were at the top of the cave and the covenant did not notice them. But now they were engaged.
"Holy crap open fire open fire" shouted Steele. They had just gone into another passage when some covenant guards started shooting at them. The firefight was huge plasma and bullet going at each other and then Steele saw the horrifying sight one of his men was tagged with a covenant grenade, the man panicked he ran helplessly shouting "GET IT OFF PLEASE HELP", and then inevitably was killed instantly. The firefight continued there was nothing Steele could do except wait to die there didn't seem any way around them. But one of his men managed to put a few grenades at just the right place and the blockade was destroyed. They moved on but at a heavy cost a lot of his men were dead and the remaining probably would not finish the mission.
They carried on but it didn't seem like there was much hope and Steele could see that on his men's faces. But he would fight until he was dead and so would his men. And they reached something they did not expect a power core of the covenant this would definitely destroy the entire base and luckily for him his engineer had brought explosives so he could destroy the base and get out alive but as they approached a covenant voice stopped them dead in their tracks
"HA HA human fools did you really think I would let you get in this easy, it was I who allowed you to know about this tunnel and now I have the perfect rats for my test", this didn't sound good to Steele at all but now his fear would become reality for there coming out of 2 doors was 2 huge monsters. "Say hello to the ancients, ancient covenant which we have revived and now they will exterminate your puny race", The 2 huge ancient covenant (which had been upgraded with weapons, and a lot of them) opened fire on Steele's men they all dived quickly behind a few random rocks as they heard the ancients firing at them with plasma pistols, plasma rifles, needlers and fuel rod guns. "We have to destroy the reactor," shouted Steele so they took the last option they tried to throw grenades into the reactor but men were just getting killed as they threw. Steele threw all his grenades except one and they all missed and there rifle fire was having no effect on the ancients and more and more of his men were dying. So Steele resorted to the last option he got up and sprinted over to the reactor and the ancients arms weren't quick enough to catch Steele he ran over to the reactor got out his grenade jumped into the reactor and pulled the spring. And that was the end of the fortress and the end of the covenant and on Earth huge celebrations took place with people dancing in the streets and the banner of Earth flew high that night on Earth, the covenant were defeated and Steele and his men were forgotten in history they were just another division that just didn't make it and know one ever guessed how or why the explosion happened but one day they would.
