"Alright marines lets lock and load we have covenant coming in hot and we need to hold'em off long enough for the Pillar of Autumn to achieve its jump. Give'em all you got boys now lets MOVE!" Cap. Karner barked at his men, Easy Company. The marines set up stationary turrets and barricades around the Reach spaceport entrance. Sg. Arcan drove a warthog up on top of a small hill and used the LAAG gun as a turret.
"Captain Karner this is Cortana on the Pillar of Autumn, we are clear for dust off in 5, can you hold your position?" asked the AI construct of the Pillar.
"I'm gonna try Cortana you just worry about getting the MC our of here, he is our best weapon against these alien bastards." Artanis yelled back over the raging battle all around him.
Covenant cruisers were creating an apocalypse down on the surface and an even greater battle raged in the space around the planet. Covenant cruisers were no match for the war ships of the humans. On the ground the humans were also fighting a losing war. Karner returned fire as several Elites began to rain plasma onto his troops. The blaring of machine guns roared over them.
"Captain this is Cortana we are clear for dust off now you get the hell out of there, good luck to you and your men!"
"Thanks Cortana we need all the help we can get. Are there any ships still in bay?"
"One but it dusts off in 3 so if you want to get off of this shit hole move it on the double!"
"You heard the lady! Lets get the fuck out of here!"
Artanis ran into the spaceport with his 8 men left out of 12. Artanis told his demo expert to lay some trip wires fast to slow down there predators a minute or two. Sg. Paul Tierney laid two sets of trip wires and ran like hell to catch up with easy company. A second later he could here a large explosion and heard the pleasant sound of dead grunts hitting the floor.
"Waterloo this is Blue-Two I need a way out and fast!" One of the surviving members of Blue-Two, the SPARTANII team that was lead by the MC.
"Blue-Two this is Admiral Barton of the Waterloo, we have plenty of room but we wait for no one, if your not here in 2 we are leaving you and thats final, so move it on the double time!"
Artanis turned a corner to find the airlock to the Waterloo, his men all let out a sigh of relief as they boarded.
"HEADS UP!" A marine yelled as a plasma grenade flew towards them.
"SHIT! IT'S ON ME IT'S FUCKING STUCK ON MY ARM GET IT OFF!" A helpless marine yelled as he ran in circles.
"HIT THE DECK" Artanis yelled a second before the grenade went off, taking the poor marine and another helpless private. Artanis turned around scoped a grunt with his pistol and with a well-placed headshot took down the bastard. The 6 men boarded the Waterloo. A second later the Waterloo reached space to find a horrific massacre of human war ships. One minute later the Waterloo jumped into hyperspace and left the Covenant radars. Artanis proceeded to the bridge.
"Captain Artanis Karner reporting Sir!" Artanis saluted the Admiral. He returned the salute but his face was grim.
"I'm glad you made it and sorry about your men, we didn't receive Blue-Two, she was supposed to get here but I'm afraid she was KIA."
"Did any other SPARTAN's make it out Sir?"
"One, the Master Chief, he's the best there is. But he is only one man." The Admiral said turning away.

Teff leaped out of the Covenant drop ship and landed hard on the ground, as he saw one of the human missiles heading toward the cockpit. The drop ship exploded before most of the other Covenant could get off, leaving him with only four other spec ops grunt, and one commanding elite. They were set down to destroy the reactors of the large orbital guns, but that would be no easy task, as the humans had them heavily fortified. Their Shadow had also been destroyed, leaving running the only option left. Teff ran as fast as he could after the elite who was leaving the other grunts in the dust towards the giant assault on the human's reactors. The second the elite got into range of the stationary guns, he was torn to pieces. The human's stationary guns and anti-air rockets were placed all over the reactors, and for the most part hidden. Teff raised his fuel rod cannon and began taking out the heavy gun emplacements. The grunt beside him, the lowest ranking and Teff thought most incompetent, began to follow his lead. The heavy gun emplacements were brought down heavily in number, leaving only six, when something new appeared on top of the reactors. Six human snipers began setting up, preparing to fire on the grunts that were out of range of the guns. Teff fired once at their position, missing by a few feet and causing no real damage to them. One of them slipped and fell from the tall structures, but other then that their numbers stayed the same.

"Get down now!!" Teff yelled at the grunt firing his fuel rod cannon idiotically at everything that could possibly bring him harm. He was panicking. Before Teff fired at the snipers again, realizing that the grunt wouldn't stop. They had taken him out, but Teff's shot hot killed them all of them but one, but he had been wounded critically. Teff grabbed the fuel rod cannon beside him and lobbed it into the field just before it exploded. Teff was knocked to the ground by the blast, and was knocked unconscious from the blast.

When the Waterloo came out of hyperspace they discovered two things. That the entire Covenant armada had followed them and a strange ring shaped structure. Less than a minute later Covenant boarding ships slammed into the Waterloo.
"Hurry up!" said Dynemysis, an Elite who held the rank of Spec Ops. "We can't let them land on Halo!" He threw a grenade at the airlock door. When it exploded he and the other Grunts ran through the door and encountered a group of six marines.
"Fire!" yelled the Elite. The group of marines fired too. They didn't have time to do any damage. They were hit by a barrage of Plasma Pistol fire.
"Hahahahaha!" Dynemysis laughed as he cut the last marine in half with his Plasma Sword.
"Make for the Bridge." ordered the Elite.

A low ranking marine ran onto the bridge of the Waterloo.
"Admiral! Admiral! Blue-Two made it on board! She is in sick bay with a broken arm but is expected to recover shortly."
The hard Admiral turned around with a slight glimmer in his eyes.
"Other than the arm, how is she doing?"
"Fine but the bad news is we have lost contact with any other human ships." He said "Also Admiral I'm not aware that you know of the cruiser following us from Reach."
"Shit. Can our fighters take care of it when we reach our destination?"
"I'm not sure but perhaps we can use Blue-Two as a one-man, err, one-woman army!"
"Are you paid to think soldier? No your not and we now know why can Blue-Two take down a whole cruiser with a broken arm? Get back to your post."
Artanis sat in the galley with his men; they were tired and mourned the loss of their friends. The stale food was more than welcome with their empty stomachs and they finished their meals to fast to enjoy them. A woman with a shaved head walked in, her arm was in a temporary sling.
"Captain isn't that Blue-Two?" Sg. Arcan whispered.
The woman answered for Artanis.
"Yes I am. What's on the menu today boys?" She calmly asked.
Artanis looked up at her, for a bald woman trained her whole life to kill, she was pretty easy on the eyes.
"How did you break your arm?" He asked her as she sat down with Easy Company, or what was left of it.
"Hunter hit me with its shield, my shields were down and I was hit there earlier. I should be healed in about a day or two." She said. "Sir."
Artanis outranked her, which was quite an ego boost for him, to outrank any SPARTANII warrior is something that can get you laid.

"ALERT, ALERT THIS IS CODE RED I REPEAT CODE RED! ALL MARINES MOVE DOUBLE TIME TO YOUR POSTS WE HAVE MADE CONTACT WITH COVENANT!" The Admiral blasted over the intercom.
"Infinite amounts of space, we make a blind jump, and with those unimaginable odds we land within a thousand miles from the PoA? How the shit does that happen?" Admiral Barton yelled mostly at himself.
"Sir we have been hit hard by Covenant landing parties they are inside!" Yelled a Petty Officer on the Bridge.

"Dinners over boys lets move it to the armory on the double!" Artanis barked at his men with a chunk of bread in his mouth.
"Shit." Blue-Two said to herself, "I have to take these Covenant assholes with a broken arm?"
Easy Company (EC) accompanied by Blue-Two made there way to the armory, once there Blue-Two suited up and grabbed a pistol and MG, EC suited up as well just in time. A small group of grunts blasted their way through the door; they were meet by a rain of lead. The grunts dropped one by one in a hail of bullets.
"Alright boys and girl, move it out we need to secure the bridge. ON THE DOUBLE!"
EC ran on the double to the bridge.

About half way to the bridge, they encountered more marines. This time there were twenty. They saw the group of Covenant just in time to see a bolt from a Fuel Rod Cannon coming at them. It killed five marines.
"Open fire!" one of them said "Take out the with the Fuel Rod Cannon!" The marines killed two of the Grunts. Dynemysis cursed.
"Fall back!" he shouted, as he threw a grenade into the middle of the group of marines. The grenade killed three marines leaving twelve of them left. As the marines came towards them, Dynemysis charged them and killed two with one swipe. The Plasma Sword was his favorite weapon. He'd been using it for years.

They made they're way into the bridge of the Waterloo. Dynemysis yanked the A.I. from its panel.
"Finally we got an A.I." said Dynemysis. Just as he was about to congratulate himself, a marine shot the A.I. It was now useless. Dynemysis had been trying to get his hands on an A.I. for years. Now this Human had ruined it. He quickly killed the marine. "Find the self-destruct button." he ordered the Grunts "Now!"

Artanis and his men came round a corner to find themselves at the bridge, a few dead marines littered the floor, the Admiral was nowhere to be seen. Artanis made a hand sign to signify stealth mode. Easy company was renowned for its stealth skills. EC was responsible for the destruction of several Covenant cruisers and destroyers. EC was the best of the best at large-scale demolition and were excellent overall. Artanis peeked around the corner to see a large elite with a plasma sword over viewing several grunts that seemed to be franticly looking for something. Artanis guessed the AI construct, Belkin.
"OPEN FIRE!" Artanis yelled once a handful of marines were within firing distance. A few grunts fell to the floor and the Elite cried out in anger as he charged straight at Artanis.

Dynemysis swung at Artanis's head. Artanis ducked just in time. There was one Grunt remaining. His rank was Spec Ops. He had a Plasma Pistol. His name was Eriloth. He shot a charged shot at Artanis's head, it hit him. Artanis fell down and pretended to be dead. The other marines retreated.
"We have to get out of here." said Dynemysis "There will be many more if we stay here" He shot Artanis in the stomach to make sure he was dead. Artanis, however, had on special armor. It saved his life.

Admiral Carter Barton got into a Pelican along with a few handpicked marines.
"Ladies and Gentlemen this is Dodger your pilot speaking we are ready for dust off and will be landing on the ring world Cortana has labeled Halo." Dodger the pilot announced. "Seatbelts everyone we're gone!"
The Pelican dusted off and flew out into space, carrying a warthog in its bay the pelican slowly descended towards halo.

Elsewhere on the Waterloo...

"This is Alpha4 we are taking heavy fire in the engine room, I'm not to sure how much more damage this baby can take we are losing altitude and fast, we should focus on getting as many marines off of this ship and onto that ring world. Pronto!"
"We read you Alpha4 this is Bravo2 and we have secured the Admiral on board of a Pelican we are accompanying him and are minutes away from landing, we expect a hot LZ so get as many boys down here as possible. What's the situation with Easy Company?"
"No word yet, last I heard Blue-Two was with them and Delta6 was getting heavy fire only one sector away from where EC was last seen."
"I have faith, Bravo2, good luck soldier, over and out."
"Roger that Alpha4, over and out."

Little John was still on the battlefield. He saw Dynemysis and Artaris going into the ship, but he didn't need them. BOOM!!! Down went four marines. He looked around for Teff. 'Where the hell is Teff?' thought Little John. He was too late. A marine had come up behind him and fired a whole clip into him.

Lucky he had his shields. They were almost fully depleted when the marine had finished. Little John ran backwards a couple of steps, and then fired his Fuel Rod Cannon. The marine flew back 10 feet.

Where the hell is Teff?

Dynemysis jumped into the Covenant boarding ship along with Eriloth. He received a transmition from the Cruiser behind them. His orders were to evacuate, land on Halo and stop the Humans from finding its control room. The boarding ship launched and made its way toward the ring structure. "That was close." Dynemysis said to Eriloth.
They landed on the ring. When they emerged from the ship they found two Elites fighting a few marines. The fight wasn't going well for the marines.
Little John was with Dynemysis and Eriloth on the Covenant boarding ship. As they landed they immediately started fighting the marines. Little John remembered the near-death experience that had happened not long ago, so he decided to stay back and just fire his Fuel Rod Cannon.
BOOM!!!
"What the hell?" The Covenant dropship, which Little John, Dynemesis and Eriloth were just on, blew up. There could only be one answer. The marines had planted a bomb on it.
Little John's brother was on the drop ship when it blew up.
Now it's personal.
Dynemysis threw a grenade on one of the marines. It blew up killing six others.
"Nice one!" shouted Eriloth. A Covenant drop ship flew over them. Four Grunts, two Elites, and two Jackals jumped out.
"Where are we?" asked Little John. "We're close to the control room." answered Dynemysis.

Teff awoke to find himself in the medical bay of a Covenant cruiser. He felt fine - thank god for Covenant medics. He ran as quickly as he could to the bridge to find out what was going on. When he reached it he was told by the commanding officer that if he wanted in on the assault of the Waterloo, he had to move his ass. There was nothing Teff liked more then battle. He ran to the last boarding craft as fast as his stubby legs would carry him.

The boarding craft docked, with two elites and a handful of grunts, all bearing Spec Ops armor. Unfortunately, the grunt held only a plasma pistol, his preferred fuel rod cannon not found. One of the grunts threw a grenade and blew open the door. Teff charged up and ran into the heat of battle. Four marines had taken cover directly beside their position. He fired at the group, hitting one in the head killing him instantly. Another grunt threw a plasma grenade, sending the marines scattering. Teff and the others picked them off as they ran to find new cover, but one of them reached one of the maintenance ducts before he could be stopped.

"Teff!" the ranking elite bellowed. "Follow him, don't let him give away our position."

"Sir!" Teff responded, heading off in the direction of the elite. He entered the maintenance shaft, and heard the echoing of weapons being discharged. The marine had been hit, he was bleeding. Teff followed the path of blood, which brought him to another battle. He poked his head in time to see a grenade take out a few marines, and saw an elite chop two guards down with one swipe. Teff ran to join the battle, but was too late. The Covenant group had destroyed the group and was heading to the bridge. The marine he was sent for he found - in a thick pile of corpses as a result of the plasma grenade. When they had reached the bridge, the ranking elite went straight for the AI holotank, but Teff thought he heard something. He straightened up, and headed back the way he had come, seeing a group of marines, sneaking quietly into the bridge. Had the bridge not been so deftly quiet, there would have been no way he would have seen them. A few of them had already gotten into the bridge, as he heard the elite let out a loud roar. Teff took two plasma grenades and threw them at either side of the remaining 6 marines, and begin firing in the midst of them. The company was taken by surprise, four of them killed by the grenades, Teff finishing off the other two. He knew there were more marines in the bridge, but as he heard the self-destruct warning, he knew he had to find a way off of the ship. Teff began running back in the direction he had landed, looking for his original group. When he reached the airlock, he saw they had all been killed, and the boarding craft was ruined. Not getting back that way, he though. Teff began running once more, towards where he suspected the human life pods to be. A reminder came over the PA - 30 seconds until explosion. He rounded a corner to find two marines helping an injured marine into one of the remaining life pods, three others covering him. The grunt snuck around them, being as quiet as he could possibly be, to where the rest of the life pods where. One grunt was no match for that many humans, even as stupid as they were. Teff reached one of the life pods, seeing corpses lying within it. Teff pushed them out of his way, but didn't have enough time to throw them out - he hated their smell, even after they had died. 10 seconds, the PA announced. Teff hoped he could fly this thing... he hit what he assumed to be the disengage button, and suddenly exploded out to space. The Waterloo exploded behind him, as he tried to figure out how to operate the human craft. It was on autopilot towards the nearest gravity well - Halo.

When they had killed the last of the marines, Dynemysis saw a Human Escape Pod about to land near them. Just as he was going to throw a grenade he saw a Grunt come out.
"Teff? Where have you been?!" asked Little John.
"I was in the medical bay on the Truth and Reconciliation. Then we boarded the Human ship. I got in one of their escape pods before the ship blew up." replied Teff. They saw a tunnel leading underground in the distance.
"The control room is that way." said Dynemysis.

Artanis awoke with a pain in his stomach and a headache like he had been up all night drinking. He looked around to find the bridge littered with bodies, humans and the Covenant alike. He rose up to look around; only one body was from his platoon. He walked slowly down the hallway towards the loading bay, to see if any ships were left. What was left of the Waterloo was slowly falling towards halo. Artanis entered the loading bay to find Blue-Two, dead.

After a few minutes of walking, they came to a large room. There was a bridge over a chasm that looked at least three thousand feet deep. They crossed the bridge and a few minutes later Dynemysis could see the end of the tunnel.

They had been walking for hours. Dynemysis looked up and saw two bridges about a thousand feet in the air. They came to a door. Inside, there was a small circular room with a lift.
"Guard this room," Dynemysis ordered the Jackals and one Elite.

Golden light, A call to all Covenant," Control room may be over run, all surrounding Entrances on full lock down, if they're in they're not coming out and if they're out they're not coming in". Golden Light tells Dynemysis that he is sending his friend "Amsalp", to help support the room With the Jackals and one Elite.

Artanis looked at Blue-Two, a solemn feeling came about him. It was always a sad thing, death. Being a marine he was trained to kill, death was his job, his duty, but it always got to him, he was only human afterall. Only a second later a new thought came to his head. The SPARTANII suit was fine, her broken arm had greatly slowed her, and her helmet was lying next to her head, the plasma shot that took her life was very evident. Artanis picked up the helmet, it was extremely heavy. No way would I be able to carry this on my head, my neck would snap in two. He thought to himself. But... Artanis thought back to the minimal training he had received at the Academy, the SPARTANII suit had a system that allowed it to stand up right even with no one inside, this was for the soldier to get into it. Artanis pushed the self-standing button and Blue-Two rose from the dead. Not literally of course but it was an eerie scene watching Blue-Two raise herself from the ground. Artanis pulled her out and covered her with a near-by rag. The best he could do in at the time. Artanis put on the SPARTANII armor then slowly raised the helmet.

Teff followed Little John and Dynemysis toward the control room. He desperately searched for something to replace his dwindling plasma pistol, as it's charge had been reduced to 14 from it's original 100. After they had reached the control room, finding to hostility along the way, they secured their position. After leaving sentries, the group of two elites, and six grunts began to move out, to begin hunting down any survivors from the Waterloo and finish them off. The Pillar of Autumn was an old ship, according to their data. It would not have lasted, most likely. When the group resurfaced, they found a group of injured marines surrounding the life pod that Teff had landed in, seeing all of the corpses. Teff could easily hear one.

"Shit man, they killed them all! We have to get out of here!!" The marines were high in number, Teff guessed thirty. In a straight out firefight, the Covenant would win, but seeing as weaponry and explosives from the ship surrounded them, the best course of action would be to surround them. Dynemysis activated his plasma sword once more, and pointed for three grunts and the other elite to flank right, while the other half of them went the opposite way. Teff and Little John were together, with Dynemysis leading the other group. Teff's group entered a sparse area of trees and rocks, hiding behind one very large rock. Dynemysis came over the comm. link.

"We are almost in position. When I give the signal, move in, both sides, no holding back. We will easily defeat these puny humans!" Teff smiled. He knew they would. About 20 seconds after Dynemysis had spoken to them; there was a small flash in the air. All of the marines looked up and pointed their assault rifles into the sky. With that, Little John fired his fuel rod cannon, taking out 6 of the marines. Teff fired one charge up plasma shot, and hit one, knocking him over. He used up his remaining ammunition and began to panic. He threw the gun at one of the marines in a futile attempt to knock one over. He threw two of his remaining 4 plasma grenades at the group, one landing in the center of a group of 8, and landing on a marine's leg. The elite of Teff's group had killed off two of them easily; the other grunts were obviously less experienced, missing horribly. Dynemysis hacked at a line of three of them, sending them flying to the ground. Another shot from Little John and the group was decimated. Only four marines remained, fleeing into the woods, but not after they had hit two of the grunts in Teff's group, providing him with a firearm. He began firing, hitting one marine in the back of the head, another in his back, and one on his arm. The injured marine and his uninjured compatriot went limping into the woods. Dynemysis ran into the woods, and after two screams, came back out. The marine Teff had shot in the back lied there, still conscious.

"Now," Dynemysis began. "You will lead us to your friends." He began laughing maniacally, lowering his plasma sword to the marine's face in a threatening motion.

Artanis looked at the loading bay with new eyes. The SPARTANII MJOLNIR armor was amazing; he had only read about it and went through very basic VR training. The mobility and strength were incredible; Artanis easily flipped a nearby warthog. He felt like a god. Then his ego took a dive. He got his head back, and just in time, the Waterloo was gaining speed on its descent towards halo. Artanis looked around franticly for an escape pod, but the MJOLNIR onboard computer revealed that all escape pods had launched. However, there was one Pelican left in bay. Thank God. Artanis thought to himself, he quickly ran for the Pelican. Once he got onboard he did a quick scan for any life forms left on the ship. Only a few covenant soldiers were left, all of the marines had either died or landed on the halo. Artanis blasted out of the landing bay and flew full speed towards halo.

Artanis piloted the Pelican towards a life beacon near a strange looking installation. Artanis set the Pelican down then looked for survivors. He slowly crept around the alien building using his infrared scope to detect life forms. There was a small doorway that lead inside the building, or rather under it. Artanis walked in to find several marines pointing guns right at him.
"Blue-Two!?" The asked in a chorus.
Artanis slowly removed his helmet to reveal his face. Under the helmet there was a smiling captain, he had been reunited with what was left of his platoon, Easy Company. Sg. Acker, Lt. Falkon, and the three petty officers, Johnson, Benedict and Carter.
"Captain!?" They all asked. "What the hell are you doing with Blue-Two's suit?"
"Blue-Two didn't make it, and this 10 Billion piece of metal was not going to fall into Covenant hands or end up in a heap of burning trash. I did what I knew was right and that was to utilize what little we have against the Covenant. I have a Pelican outside waiting for us, we need to search for other survivors and make a base camp. Lets move out EC, lets show those Covenant bastards that this ring is ours, no matter what it turns out to be!"
"SIR YES SIR!" They answered in a heart felt chorus. EC ran outside and loaded into the Pelican Benedict, Codename: Boomer, took the pilot seat, he was first in his class at the Academy of small grade vehicle piloting. Artanis turned his radio on to try and pick up any transmissions.
"Foe Hammer this is Cortana the Master Chief and I have secured a map of the Halo, we need extraction and a means of transport to the control room, spare as many men as you can, we will have a warm welcome for us at the control room."
"Roger that Cortana!" Answered Foe Hammer.
"Foe Hammer this is Captain Artanis Karner of Easy Company I have commandeered the SPARTANII battle armor of Blue-Two, she died onboard the Waterloo, I have five able and willing first class marines with me who cant wait to kill some Covenant tell us where the action is and were there!"
"Good to hear from you Captain I'm sending you the coordinates now, meet there at 0500 hours, over and out!"
"Roger Foe Hammer, over and out."

After ten minutes the marine still wouldn't talk, so Dynemysis killed him.

They went through a door and found themselves on a natural bridge. To their left was a pyramid structure.
"That is the control room." Dynemysis said.

After going through several blast doors, they finally got into the control room. They went to the holo panel. It gave them some coordinates. Dynemysis assumed they were coordinates to another structure, which held the key to activate Halo, and destroy the Humans.

The drop ship took them to a swamp. There were no Humans to be seen. They walked about half a mile and came to the entrance of a structure. Inside was a lift. They went down. Dynemysis wondered what they would find when the lift stopped.
"Be ready for anything," he told his Grunts. When the lift finally stopped, they went through a door and found an energy bridge. After crossing the bridge they went through another door and found a ramp going downwards. They came to yet another door. This one was locked.
"The door is locked," said Teff. Dynemysis reached for his grenades, but found that he had already used all of them.
"Little John, use your Fuel Rod Cannon." he ordered
"Sir!" Little John fired his Fuel Rod Cannon at the door. It flew open.
"This has to be the place," Dynemysis muttered, "why else would they go to so much trouble to keep this door closed?"
He was about to find out.

They went inside. There were two doors on each side of the room and one at the other end.
"Stay sharp." Dynemysis reminded them. He went to one of the doors. He tried to look through the glass part of the door, but something blocked his view. He thought he heard a noise. He looked around, his Plasma Sword ready to strike. Dynemysis saw nothing.
"What's wrong?" asked Eriloth.
"Nothing," he replied, "I thought i heard something." Dynemysis noticed a control panel on the wall next to the door. After studying it closely he pressed the button he thought would open the door, he was right. They saw nothing there and went to the next door. As Dynemysis was about to open it, he heard one of his Grunts scream.
"Get it off!" Dynemysis saw a small squid-like creature attached to the Grunts skin. Before he could react it had killed the Grunt. Eriloth, Teff, and Little John stared at it for a moment. They were horrified. After a few seconds, they shot it. It disintegrated instantly. Suddenly hundreds of them started pouring out of the door.
"Fall back!" yelled the Elite.

They ran back through the door from which they came. Dynemysis leaped onto the lift with the Grunts close behind him. He quickly pressed a button on the holo panel and the lift took them up. The Grunts were starting to panic. When the lift came to the top, they ran out of the structure. Dynemysis called for an evac. It would take ten minutes at least for the drop ship to arrive.

After what seemed like hours, the drop ship arrived. Dynemysis explained as well as he could what had happened.

After the drop ship had arrived at the Covenant's makeshift base, and they had all reported what they saw, the Covenant knew they had found something very unusual. The ranking elite demanded that a team be sent to investigate the large building's interiors. After what he had seen, Teff chickened out of volunteering. Usually he was the first, but in this case he stepped out. Instead, Teff volunteered to cover the drop ship along with Little John, in case there was some unseen danger, the drop ship could be helped from being overrun. There were four drop ships sent to investigate, one staying behind to help cover the drop ships. Teff, being the highest-ranking grunt, was in command of the force covering the drop ships. At his disposal were 6 jackals, and 9 other grunts. Not a large force, but enough to repel a small attack, especially since they would be landing on high ground, and with the drop ships powerful shade gun providing cover fire. After the drop ships had landed, and the task force had set out to investigate the odd buildings, Teff began to feel... something. His eyes darted to and fro, but he saw nothing. He felt as if... they were being watched. Teff raised his eyes, and saw a small blue light hovering forty feet or so above the ground. The blue light, wherever it came from, cried out.

"Oh my, it's those troublesome interlopers!" After saying that, it flashed orange, and disappeared. Teff was at first confused, but didn't have time to contemplate exactly what happened. A group of small hovering robots came over a large grouping of trees. Teff guessed about twenty of them. The drop ship's guns couldn't reach that high; it was up to his force to take them out. Teff immediately began barking orders, still feeling a sense of foreboding in the pit of his stomach.

"Fuel rod, fire!" Two grunts let loose their fuel rod's charge. One was a clean miss, but Little John's hit one of the odd robots dead on. Suddenly, a great orange laser flashed from all of the twenty robots, landing squarely on jackal that had begun firing on them. The jackal immediately cried out, and Teff could make out the scent of burning flesh. The fuel rod explosion had destroyed one, and had injured another. They were too separated for the fuel rod to do immense damage.

"Open fire!" Teff yelled. He charged his plasma pistol and fired. His shot hit dead on, the robot exploding and falling to the ground. The robots were far away enough to avoid most of the plasma, two others falling. The robots let out another charge, this time at where the reactor was for the drop ship. After a few seconds of hearing metal burn, the drop ship's cockpit exploded. The shockwave sent many of the Covenant's forces to the ground. Teff steadied himself and fired two more charged shots, hitting with only one. A few more robots floated out from the trees. They let out another burst, destroying the drop ship beside Teff, sending his forces scattering. All of the grunts went into the trees in a panic, except Teff and Little John. Suddenly, the robots all turned towards those grunts. The grunts came charging out screaming even more. There were the hideous yellow things attached all over them. The robots began killing off the small spore looking objects, as well as slowly roasting the grunts. After a few seconds, more things came out of the trees. Something that slightly resembled a Covenant came out holding a plasma rifle, and another that looked a bit like one of the human marines. The creatures were disgusting. For a moment, Teff was frozen in fear. He was hit in the arm with a plasma rifle shot, making him drop his plasma pistol, and bringing him back to reality. Another drop ship exploded. One left.

"Little John, fall back!!" Teff cried. Little John still stared in disgust at the creatures. Teff hit him with his one operational arm, waking him up. "Fall back!"

"Yes, yes, yes!!" Little John yelled, firing the fuel rod cannon at the creatures, but missed. His hands were trembling. The two remaining grunts and one jackal made it onto the drop ship.

"Get us out of here!!" Little John cried. The drop ship's gates closed, and it took off. At first Teff could feel the ship rocking from plasma hits Oh please don't let me die out here... Teff thought. There was a small explosion, and the pilot came over the PA.

"We've taken serious damage! Prepare for emergency landing!" the grunt in the cockpit sounded as terrified as Teff had been. But he straightened and regained his posture. He'd need his head to get out of this alive. As he thought that, there was a crash and the entire drop ship stopped, sending Teff to the ground.

Teff got up and found Little John unconscious. Another of the creatures came at him fast. Just as it was about to strike him, he saw a blade of Plasma go through it. The creature fell and Teff saw Dynemysis. Dynemysis picked up Little John and they ran to where a drop ship was waiting for them. Eriloth was not found. They got on the ship and it took them to the Truth and Reconciliation. When they got off the drop ship they found that the Truth and Reconciliation was infested with the creatures. Everywhere they looked they saw Covenant battling them. Dynemysis carried Little John to the medical bay with Teff right behind him. Dynemysis left them in the medical bay and headed for the armory. When he got there, the first thing he did was get some Plasma Grenades. He also took a Plasma Rifle and strapped it onto his back. The Plasma Sword wouldn't do much good if he came across any of the small creatures.

Artanis and EC arrived at the Command Shuttle stationed in a valley somewhere on halo. The ranking officers greeted Artanis and he told his story. Afterwards there was word from the Master Chief and Cortana, they had found the control room, thus learning the location of the "weapon" halo possessed, however, when the MC arrived to find Captain Keyes he got much more than he wanted. The MC discovered the true "weapon" of halo. Cortana did some research and learned that these creatures were known as the flood, the good thing was they also attacked Covenant forces, the bad thing was that humans didn't stand a chance against them either.
"Captain!" Vissera yelled.
"Vissera, I didnt know any other SPARTAN's made it out of Reach." Artanis answered. "How have you been?"
"Its rough out here, were out numbered 5 to 1 and now we have to deal with this "flood" and they are practically unstoppable." He said. "The shit has really hit the fan with this, and now its recently been reported that Captain Keyes is, well he's dead Artanis."
"Damnit, that's just what we need, goddamn Covenant."
"Well Artanis it wasn't the Covenant, I was there with the Master Chief when we boarded the Truth and Reconciliation, Keyes was, devoured, by the flood."
"Jesus."
Everyone became silent as the MC walked in. Cortana came over through everyone's headset.
"Captain Karner, Captain Vissera. Get your men together; we are going to the control room. Artanis you are to take your platoon, Easy Company, and infiltrate the control room while the MC and I get the information we need. Vissera you are to have your men, and provide cover for Easy Company, me and the Master Chief." Cortana explained. "Now lets move out!"

Little John woke up in the medical center. He asked one of the medics where his friends. He headed for the Armory.

"Morning Johnnie Boy." Teff's distinguishable voice could just be heard as he entered the Armory - the ringing in Little John's ears was piercing into his brain from the crash.

"Get ready Little John," said Dynemysis. We'll need all the firepower we can get if we want to get rid of those...creatures.

"Uh...Okay," Little John held his head, he had a splitting headache. He grabbed his Fuel Rod Cannon and picked up a few grenades.

"You might want to get a Plasma Pistol," said Teff. "The Fuel Rod isn't gonna do much against those little shits."

After a few minutes, they were ready. They headed to the Control Room.

"Cortana this is Echo 419, I'm ready for dust off whenever your mission is complete."
"Roger that Foe Hammer, thank you." Cortana replied.
EC and Vissera's men moved in, they seized the control room with minimal offense. The MC walked in by himself.
"I talked with Cortana aboard the Pelican, this flood attaches itself to you and then turns you to their side, it does the same with the Covenant, however, it cant get past energy shields, so we should be fine." Vissera said to Artanis as they sat outside waiting for the MC to finish.
"Only while our shields are fully charged, afterwards we are easy targets."
"Speaking of easy targets, what do those grunts down there think they are doing?"
"Waiting to get sniped. Acker take 'em out."
"With pleasu-"
Acker's body was impaled by an energy blade. As his body fell everyone opened fire. Artanis ran for cover while unloading his MG he hit the invisible elite that had killed Acker a few times, making his camouflage disappear for a second. As the firefight continued Artanis started to realize that unless the MC got out here they would all be cooked.

Artanis grabbed one of the dead marines pistols and held one in each hand and unloaded two whole clips into a group of grunts trying to run away, none of them made it. It seemed out of nowhere 6 hunters appeared over the ridge.
"HOLY FUCK WERE ALL GONNA DIE!" A marine started yelling, he had lost it, the sight of one hunter was enough to make a grown man cry, 6 and you shit yourself. Artanis ran straight towards them.
"WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING!?" Another marine cried.
"His job." Answered Vissera and the MC.
Artanis dodged the first two fuel rod cannon blasts, they were slow and their neon green color made them hard to miss. The first hunter charged at Artanis who quickly jumped back and with one clean shot in the Hunter's stomach took it down. One on his left and one on his right charged towards him ready to swing their giant shields. Artanis ducked and rolled barely missing the two blows and being nicked by a blast from the third hunter. The sniper took out one with a clean shot in the back, while Artanis did another one in with two clean back shots. One was left. The last hunter roared as it flew towards Artanis, he tried to dodge it but was unable to get clear in time, the hunter made contact and Artanis flew several feet back. The hunter then lept into the air with a firey blood lust in its eyes. Artanis, on his back, rolled to the side, the hunter left a huge scar in the ground where Artanis had been a second ago. Artanis quickly got to his feet to land a shot square center in the hunters back.

Dynemysis, Teff and Little John were heading to the Control Room when they heard a transmission coming from Little John's headset. It was a Hunter's growl.

"Roger, Golden Light. Hunters are on their way. Amsalp out."

"Good," said Dynemysis. "That way we'll have better protection at the Control Room. We're only a few hundred meters away."

The trio started to walk up the pyramid structure, but was too far away to hear the Hunters scream.

Dynemysis, Little John, and Teff reached the control room and opened the vast door just in time to see ten more of the odd robots float into the vast room. It seemed they were chasing some of the small yellow creatures, trying to finish them off.

"Let's not give them the chance to reach us," Dynemysis said, a slight smile appearing on his face. "Open fire at the robots." With those words, Little John fired his fuel rod cannon, but the robots were so far away that it did little good. A few of Dynemysis's plasma rifle shots glanced off of the sleek robots, but did little damage. Teff charged his plasma pistol and fired. The targeting of the slow moving plasma pistol shot compensated for the distance, hitting one of the ten robots dead on, as it exploded it fell on top of another, sending them both hurtling to the ground. The other 8 robots have finished off the small disgusting creatures, and headed directly for the group of Covenant on the walkway. Teff looked around; there was no cover. Unless they could kill them all before they reached them, it was very likely the robots would win. Teff began charging and firing repetitively at the group. 3 of his 10 shots hit, but depleted his ammunition completely. Little John fired his fuel rod, hitting one dead on and destroying the one next to it, and fired once more, barely missing another. Dynemysis fired and destroyed one, but 2 remained. They opened fire with their odd lasers, hitting Dynemysis. His shields flickered to life and held out the odd alien beams. As soon as the robots stopped firing, there was an explosion from behind them, destroying both of them. Golden Light stepped around the control panel, seemingly appearing from nowhere.

They walked out to the edge of the pyramid. They could see some Humans walking up the ramps. Dynemysis guessed thirty. He strapped the Plasma Rifle on his back and activated his Plasma Sword. One of them had a Rocket Launcher. The marine spotted the group of Covenant and fired a rocket at Teff. Dynemysis stepped in front of Teff and took the rocket directly to his chest. His shields were down, but he was not. He ducked and let his shields recharge. After they were recharged, he stood up and threw a Plasma Grenade on the marine with a Rocket Launcher.
"Stupid Human." he said after it had exploded. It killed one other. The marines opened fire immediately.
"Fire!" yelled the Elite. Little John fired his Fuel Rod Cannon, but Teff had no charge left in his Plasma Pistol. Dynemysis pulled the Plasma Rifle from his back and fired at a sniper. Two Hunters came down the ramp behind them and started firing. There were now only ten marines left. A moment later one of the Hunters died. It had been taking almost all of the marine's fire. The second one, however, was almost unharmed. A Banshee swooped down and fired a Fuel Rod bolt at the group of Humans. It circled around and fired again.
