Okay, this isn't my first fan-fic but it's the first I've submitted to HBO. Any comments would help me make the series better, thank you.

/Atlanta/Georgia/North America/Earth/0900 hours/

Me and my girlfreind Kelly, had always wanted to join the UNSC Marine Corps, and aid in the fight for humanity. And when we turned 18, we did. We didn't bother to tell anyone where we were going either, we just packed a few essential things, and left. It was a friggin' hot summer day on Earth, [yeah, the homeland,] and we were relieved to enter the air-conditioned recruiter's office. The guy at the front desk handed us each a slip of paper with a list of specialties that we could choose from. We both chose Sniping as soon as we saw it on the list and we waited for the next transport to arrive. "Hey Kelly." I said, "Yeah?" "I can't wait to get my hands on one of those S2 AM Sniper Rifles." I replied, "Heh, me niether." We waited for about an hour, and the transport arrived. We got on and took two seats in the back. We were flying in that thing for at least four hours, and we were getting tired. I looked out the finger-print and snot stained window, out into the blackness of space. Then there was a flash of green, and then everything went white, we had entered slipspace. "Damn this is gonna' be a long flight, we've entered slipspace so we must be going to another system." Kelly said yawning. She then leaned on my shoulder and fell asleep. I closed my eyes, and just as I was about to fall asleep, [which usually takes me a few hours to do,] the transport exited slipspace in a flash of green.

We were just outside the atmosphere of a huge planet. It was almost entirely green except for the blue rivers that ran through the green-ness. Kelly sat up as the transport lurched, we were beginning our descent into the planet's atmosphere. We sat through several more lurches, but then the transports alarm went off as it began to rock violently. "Oh shit!" I heard the pilot yell from the cockpit, then I heard his voice over the intercom: "Okay recruits, hold on to your asses cuz' we've been hit by enemy torpedoes, we're goin down fast an' hard... FUCK!!!" The transport had hit ground on a huge grassy plateu, and was tearing apart as it slid. We were heading straight for a clump of trees, I looked at Kelly who had her eyes shut and was muttering something that sounded like a mix of curses and prayers. I clasped her hand in mine, and with a CRASH!, we hit the trees and I knew no more...

When I awoke, I was lying with my back on the grass, looking up at the night sky. I stood up, and surveyed the area: The transport was is several pieces, and was on fire in some places. I walked over to the piece that had the cockpit in it, and saw a rack of weapons, I looked for a Sniper Rifle but couldn't find one so I settled for a Battle Rifle, a Pistol, a Combat Knife, and some Frag Grenades. I also found a Marine Corps uniform and put it on. When I put the helmet on I saw the words: 'Initializing Neural Implants...Done' scroll across my vision, and my head tingled for a second. Somehow, the helmet had just made some Neural Implants materialize in my brain. I raised my Battle Rifle and saw an aiming reticle appear. Then health status bars and ammo count numbers, and a motion tracker appeared on my mental HUD that the Implants created. "This is so cool." I thought.

I walked around the crash site for a while, looking for any sign of the others. But they were nowhere to be found. There was just a little blood here and there. I decided to make a break for some woods that I'd spotted with my BR's scope. As I got closer I saw the light of a fire on the edge of the woods. YES! I had found the others. I walked into the camp and sat down around the fire. No-one seemed to notice me walk up. They were too busy laughing at a story that the Co-Pilot of the transport was telling. I listened for a while, until I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Kelly, "I thought you were done for Jake." She said, "Naw, I'm invincible." I said, grinning. She grinned back. "Well well, I thought you were dead son, I'm Captain Barnun." the Pilot of the transport had just walked up. I snapped a sharp salute and said: "Sir, Private Jake Tallent reporting for duty sir!" "Jesus son, you haven't even reached your base yet and you already act like a soldier. You're even in uniform. You'll make a damn good Marine kid." the Captain said. "Sir, thank you sir!" I replied. The Captain grinned at me and then turned to the others around the campfire. "Alright dumplings! Now that we're all here we can discuss the plan!" he said, "The only thing in between us and the base is this god-damned forest. It'll take us seven days to get through under normal conditions. But if there are Covies in there-" he was cut off by a blast of blue plasma crackling past his face, followed by fire from all directions. "Okay people, give 'em hell! You may not have been trained yet but I trust you all know how to pull a trigger!" the Captain said, drawing his BR. Everyone else did the same.

Kelly and I immediatley ran to the top of a hill to snipe out any of the bastards we could. We were both pretty damn good at it, because Kelly's father had always let us practice with the hunting weapons he owned. We took down several Grunts with head-shots, and a few Jackals with Grenades. But a Gold-armored Elite saw us and leaped over the battlefield and landed in front of me. The big dumbass made the mistake of stopping to roar at me, and I put my Combat Knife through his intestines. Then I grabbed him by the throught and shot him in the head with my M6D Pistol. After his bloody carcass fell to the ground I pulled out my BR and put the last Elite's head in my sights, and pulled the trigger. BLAM! His brains blasted out of the back of his head, and painted the trees behind him blue.

WHAM! The Captain killed the last enemy, a Grunt, with a kick to the head which made it cave in. "Okay boys and girls!" the Captain shouted, "Let's haul ass to the base!"

Okay guys, I took your advice on a few things so hopefully this one will be better than the first, and once again: any comments would be appreciated.

Grid: K223, en route to UNSC military base/Planet: Encipher/1000 hours/

The next six days were a living hell. We walked our asses off all fucking day long, every day. While fighting off hordes of Covies a zillion times a day.

I had several plasma burns in various locations across my body. Kelly had a broken arm, so she could only use a Pistol. In fact, Captain Barnun was the only one who was uninjured, probably because he kicked major ass every time we got in a fight.

It was now the seventh day. Morale was a bit higher today, then it had been because we knew we were close to the base. The trees were getting just a bit thinner now.

"Hey! There's somethin' up here!" the scout said as he waved for us to come to where he was. We got to him and a few people cursed loudly. We had reached the edge of the forest and had come to a huge, grassy, plain. Then we saw the Tank.

I didn't know what exactly it was called, but it was purple, and we all knew what that meant. It was sitting in the middle of a small squad of 4 Elites, and a group of 10 Grunts. "Shit," the Captain said, "Okay, Tallent! You go around back of it and hit the Elites with everything you've got. I'll take the rest on a frontal assault to try and take the Wraith out." "Yes sir!" I said, and did as he ordered.

I stayed on the edge of the forest until I got to the far left of the group. Then I hauled ass behind them, to the top of a hill. And before they knew what was happening I blew the heads off of two Elites with one shot from my BR. The other Elites roared, and then spotted me, and pointed me out to the Wraith.

It fired a huge ball of plasma in an arch at me. I yelled, "FUCK!" and hit the dirt in front of me. The mortar had missed me by a matter of feet. I expected it to fire another at me, but all of the sudden a barrage of fire from the Captain and the others blew it up. I stood, wiped the sweat from my brow, and took aim at the remaining two Elites. It was pretty damn hard to kill them because the other Marines were in very close, killing mainly Grunts. I cursed under my breath, reloaded, and took aim once more.

"Hehe, I've got you by yourselves now you big blue bastards." BLAM! I blew one Elites' head off with a shot to the throught. BLAM! BLAM! I blew the last Elites guts out of his back and blew his brains out. The Captain gave me the thumbs-up, and I returned the gesture.

The others finished the Grunts off with ease, and then I jogged over to them. "God-damn it Tallent, you never cease to amaze me!" the Captain said, smiling, "No training yet either..." He walked off across the plain, and we all followed.

We walked for a few more hours undisturbed. We were tired, injured, and really filthy. But we were pretty damn happy. We could now see the base a few miles away. It was pretty much just a big metal square...with gun turrets...and electric fences...and concrete walls...and airstips, and a bunch of other military stuff. We all broke into a run, with luck we wouldn't be attacked on the way. We didn't have much luck left though.

We all heard the humming of enemy dropships, we all saw them land a few kilos ahead, but we didn't stop. We were gonna' blow the hell out of those bastards and keep on running, those DAMN Covies weren't gonna' stop us when we were this close. That's what we thought until we saw what kind of Covenant the dropships were carrying: 50 Brutes, and 2 Hunters. "Oh shit." Captain Barnun said. "You took the words right out of my mouth sir." I replied.

We had only faced a few Brutes and Hunters in the forest, and even then they were pretty damn hard to kill. In fact, it was a Brute that had broken Kelly's arm.

I brought my BR to bear, as did everyone else, and let 'er rip. To my surprise, we felled about half of the Brutes, but that was before we got in close, and both of the Hunters were still alive. When we got in close I drew my Combat Knife, put away my BR, and took out my Sidearm.

I managed to kill a few of the Brutes with shots to the face, but took a few cuts from their gun's blades. I saw one of the bastards coming for me, and just as he raised his axe-like gun, I cut his arm off, kicked him in the chest, and shot him in the face.

The Captain, as always, was the one kicking the most ass. He had stolen two of the Brutes' guns, and was blowing up, or cutting up, anything that dared challenge him.

Kelly was doing better than what I expected, what with her arm broken. And the rest of the recruits were doing okay. But would okay be good enough?

The battle seemed to last forever, we were all getting tired. Even Captain Barnun, [although he was still uninjured.] A few of the recruits were dead, and several were severely wounded. Kelly and I had both sustained a good bit of damage, nothing too serious though. But we were slowly getting worn down. And those DAMN Hunters were still alive.

"Okay people, we can't keep this up for much longer. Let's make a break for the bases' main gates. Their chain guns should be a big help!" The Captain said. Then we all ran like our asses were on fire, toward the base. The Brutes and Hunters were close behind and firing.

A few more recruits went down. But we were getting so close. I could see the Marines getting the MG's ready on the walls. Then, as we got in range they opened fire. BRRRRRRAPPP!!! They blew all of the Brutes to hell. But couldn't take the Hunters out before they sent two globules of green plasma hurtling at the gunners. BLAMM! BLAMM! The gunners were thrown from the MG's. Then I, the Captain, Kelly, and all of the other recruits, turned around and threw a Grenade each. BLAM! The Hunters blew up.

At last! We had made it! I threw up from exhaustion. Then put my arm around Kelly's shoulders, and said: "We fucking made it!"

To be continued...

Okay, I know it was kinda' short, but I wanted to see if you guys thought I'd improved. If I have then I'll make the next one a whopper!

SNIPER, Part Three
Date: 21 August 2003, 12:59 AM

Sorry I took so long on this one, I was real busy...so...here it is,:

/Grid:E773/UNSC Military base/Planet Encipher/0800 hours/

2 months later:

I stood on the rooftop, I was doing my job, I was having fun; I was hunting. I saw my target, and brought my rifle to bear, the figure in my sights didn't know, that I was a trigger pull away from his death, and my 50 grand. I was about to silence him forever when I heard,: "Get up ya' stupid fucks!"

I awoke with a start. The Sarge was yelling at us to get out of bed. So we did. We put on our combat gear, grabbed a few weapons, and headed to the training grounds to do what we'd been doing every day for the last 2 months,: push-ups, sit-ups, crunches, laps, and every other kind of physical workout you can think of.

Then we headed to the combat sim,: a simulator that creates missions for us to practice. Then we headed to the cafeteria to get some chow. Me and Kelly got our daily serving of shit and sat down to eat. "'Sup dawgs." a hispanic dude sat down at our table. "Hey Perez." I said. "What was your score in the sim today?" Perez asked, "77," I said, "Yours?" "I got 60, how 'bout you Kelly?" "100." "WHAT THE FUCK?!" "Jesus you're good!" "I know." Kelly replied, smiling slightly. "Oh I just remembered." Perez said, "The Sarge told me that Major Vilis wants to see us three in his office after lunch." "In his office?" I said, "What does he want us there for?" "Sarge didn't say, just for us to go there." "Well let's haul ass. This may be our first mission."

When we entered Major Vilis' office he was sitting at his desk, talking to Captain Barnun. We saluted them both, "At ease, and sit your asses down." Vilis said, "Okay soldiers! I think it's time you make yourselves useful. Our boys over at the city of Ganta are in heavy combat with the Covenant. And although Encipher isn't a high priority target for the Covies they have placed one of their Cruisers a few hundred meters above the ground not too far from Ganta, and are unloading a shit-load of troops and vehicles, getting ready to attack Ganta. We don't have enough troops that are close enough to Ganta to send them in, guns blazing. That's why we need you. A single sniper can kill 10 Covies with one shot, without giving away their position. That's exactly what we need,: a quick and deadly strike team. I want you three to go and find a few other snipers to take with you, Captain Barnun will get a couple Warthogs ready for you, at the gate. I want you to go to Ganta, and kill as many Covies as you can, and save as many Marines as you can. Now move out!"

We had picked a few other snipers, and met Captain Barnun at the main gate in 7 minutes flat. I took driver in one of the Warthogs, Captain Barnun drove the other, Kelly took the side seat of mine, and Perez took the gun. The others took the remaining seats.

We put our 'Hogs in gear and zoomed off across the grassy plain, towards the blip on our radars that marked the location of Ganta. As we got closer we could make out the Covie Cruiser and the hundreds of troops and vehicles below it. "Holy shit!" Perez said when he saw it, "How the hell are we gonna' kill all of those?"

We drove past the Cruiser and into the city. We parked our 'Hogs in the garage of the main Military building, and got out. Me, Kelly, and Perez walked to the rooftop, while Captain Barnun and the rest of the snipers stayed inside with the other Marines.

I zoomed in on the Covie Cruiser. The troops were moving towards the city at alarming speed. They must have seen us pass in our Warthogs. I took aim and fired four rounds, 10 Covies fell, in their own blood.

Then Perez and Kelly opened fire. BLAM, BLAM, BLAM, BLAM! Several more Covenant troops fell.

But the others kept on coming, trampling the dead. There was a mettalic CLUNK! as the main blast gates that had been installed in the city closed. A group of Marines got up on top of the gates, while the rest stood behind it, ready for the moment when the Covenant broke through.

The Covenant troops began pounding the gates with plasma, while the Marines returned fire. Then the Wraiths began firing. In a few moments the blast gates were incenerated and the Covies poured into the city.

It was absoloute madness, there were just too many Covies. The Military building that Perez, Kelly, and I stood on was now full of injured Marines. And there were plenty of dead ones outside.

I turned to Kelly and Perez, and said, "Stay here and help tend to the wounded." I knew what I had to do. They nodded at me and ran inside. I looked over the side of the 4-story building, braced myself, and jumped off into the fray.

I landed with a thud on the concrete. A startled Elite roared at me and charged. I charged back, and just as we were about to collide, I side-stepped and stabbed him in the back of the head with my Combat Knife.

I then pulled out my Battle Rifle and got to work. Blowing the hell out of any Covie that got in my way. I made my way through the battle, to an un-manned Ghost, and hauled ass toward the Cruiser.

I saw what I was looking for,: the grav-lift. I drove into it and was lifted up into the ship. I felled a few startled Elites when I got in the ship and ran down a hallway. I got very lucky and stumbled on the bridge.

There was only a single Gold Elite standing on the platform in the middle of the room, I guessed that was because most of the troops had been sent down to the surface. This must be the Ship Master. I walked up behind him and put my Pistol to his head, and said, "Surrender you bastard." He then activated his Plasma Sword and shook me off before I could fire.

He roared,: "You will perish by my Sword!" in very bad english, and swung at me. I side-stepped just in time, grabbed his wrist, and broke it. He roared in pain and dropped his Plasma Sword. I picked it up and held it at his throat. He said,: "Curse you and your species!" and I cut his head off. A fountain of purple blood squirted out of his throat as he fell.

I de-activated the Sword and put it on my grenade belt. "Zagan, Zagan, are you there?" I heard through a tranciever on the control panel, It was in english because of my implants. I walked over to the tranciever and said,: "You will all rot in hell you bastards!" and hit a few buttons on the control panel.

The words,: firing torpedoes, self-destruct sequence engaged. Scrolled across a holo-panel. "Oh fuck!" I said and ran like hell to the hangar. ,[I knew where it was because I saw a map on the holo-panel,]

I opened the shuttle bay door and hopped in a Banshee. As I was flying toward the city I activated my radio and said to Captain Barnun,: "Get the hell inside and underground, 'cause the ship's about to blow, and there's Plasma Torpedoes headed your way!" There was a crackle and I heard Captain Barnun's voice over the sound of battle,: "What the? How the? Well, I'll take your word for it Tallent." I then landed the Banshee on top of the main Military building, and got out.

I walked down to the basement and saw that the others were already there. BOOM! A plasma Torpedo hit ground above. Screams of dying Covenant could be heard as they were blasted by their own Torpedoes. There were a few more Torpedo explosions and then, BLAAAAMMMMMM!!!!!!! "That mus've been the Cruiser." commented Captain Barnun. "Jesus fucking Christ Tallent! How the hell did you pull THAT off? I guess you can explain later, we gotta' haul ass back to the base!"

/2 hours later/in Major Vilis's office/

"Okay," Major Vilis said, "Let me get this straight Tallent. You boarded a Covenant Cruiser, killed the Ship Master, fired a few torpedoes, set the self-destruct sequence, hijacked a Banshee and saved everyone in Ganta, BY YOUR SELF?" "Yes sir." I replied. "Then I was right..." Vilis said,"Son, I did some research on you while you were gone, and I've found out something very interesting...I know what you were before you joined the Marine Corps. son...you were a Bounty Hunter."

Ahh, SUSPENSE! Hehe lol. Once again, any comment would be greatly apprecieated, I can't learn from my mistakes if you don't point them out to me, and I would love compliments too. :]
