MJOLNIR, Prologue

~*Author's note*~

Hey guys, just so you all now, this is actually Agent Shade, I just changed my name, mainly because I like this one better. For those of you who are wondering about Survival, don't worry, I shall continue it. I just wanted to try writing two stories at once. Won't be easy, I know, but I'm going to try. Please enjoy this and let me know what you think. Cheers.

~*End note*~

Dr. Catherine Hasley sighed deeply as a warm sunshine beamed down on her face. She felt relaxed here, no government officials yelling at her, no media people yelling questions at her. Nothing but peace and tranquility. She sat on the deck of a small cottage, on West End Beach. The waves lapped across the golden sand. In the distance, white caps marked the tips of bigger waves hitting the coral reefs. The wind shifted what white hair remained on her skull. Majority of the times she went outside, she wore a hat, but today, since she was far away from society, she felt safe. As the sunshine continued to glow on her, she was forced to put on a sun hat, which would protect her wrinkly, fragile skin from the harsh rays of the bright sun that shone down on her. Sighing again, she grabbed hold of the scrapbook that lay on her lap and opened it. She had made it herself, when her hands weren't as weak as they are now. The front cover had three pictures on it. One was a picture of the Master Chief of the Spartan-IIs, John. The second was a picture of the Master Spartan of the Spartan-IIIs and the final picture was that of the MJOLNIR combat armor, the idea and creation that made her famous and valuable today. The other pages in the book were articles about the Spartans and MJOLNIR, ones that she had collected over the course of her service to the UNSC.

After looking through the book for a few minutes, she put it down, forcing her emotions back. Her Spartans were now dead and even if they were alive, they weren't needed. The Covenant threat was over and the entire alien caste was dead. The planets that once belonged to the Covenant were now planets that belonged to the humans. Slowly, the UNSC was attempting to establish an everlasting peace. However, now that the Covenant was dead, the rebel factions that were created before the Covenant were back. Numerous military facilities were being raided for weapons and supplies. Huge mobs attacked UNSC offices and buildings. The once unstable human society was back. Catherine almost wished that the Covenant were still alive. However, her prayers would not be answered this time around. She couldn't put to use her mind again and improve the MJOLNIR project. It was destroyed and everyone who worked on it was literally brain washed. All except for Catherine. For the time being she was being kept alive, but because of the knowledge stored in her brain, she couldn't be seen by the public. The rebel factions were at large and were looking for new strategies to use against the UNSC. Project MJOLNIR could be one of them, and for that, she was tossed into the depths of space, under guard by four bored UNSC security officers. Catherine shook her head and leaned back into the sun, letting her hat fall off. After a few minutes of doing this, she heard footsteps coming from inside the cottage.

"Dr. Hasley, you know that sun hat should be on your head" said Lieutenant Trainee Grade Fredrick McConnell. The young man was dressed in a combat jumpsuit, a gun belt strapped around his waist. He had shaved his hair off, allowing his German blue eyes to shine brightly. Catherine smiled.

"Oh yes, I'm sorry Fredrick" she said, leaned back to get it. Fredrick quickly snatched it away and placed it on her head.

"This sun is going to burn you Miss. I think you should come inside for now" he said. Catherine was about to resist, but she knew in her mind, she wanted to go. She stood.

"Would a strong man like you please offer your arm to a little old lady?" she asked. Fredrick smiled and stepped beside her, offering his arm. Catherine took it and allowed the security officer to steer her into the cottage.

The interior was quite spacious compared to the other ones she had been on. There was a large recreation room, which included their kitchen. Five master bedrooms and a small monitoring room branched off from this large living area. Sitting on the couch of the large room was First Lieutenant Jonathan Graham, Chief of Security. He was buried in his book, but looked up and nodded at the two people walking inside.

"Almost lunch time Doctor" he said. Catherine wasn't hungry.

"Thank you Lieutenant, but I'm going to go for a quick nap first. It's beautiful outside, you guys should go for a swim" she said. Jonathan chuckled, revealing white teeth. His hair was extremely short and spiked up slightly. He shook his head.

"Don't think any of us packed our swimming trunks ma'am" he said. Catherine nodded and slowly walked into her bedroom, Fredrick still helping her.

"Well, please feel free to do what you wish" she said as she disappeared into her room.

Unlike the other bedrooms, Catherine had a quite large one. Mainly because she required a large bed. Because of what she experienced during her service for the UNSC, she often had nightmares and these nightmares caused her to roll around a lot. Twice, she had woken up from a nightmare and found herself on the floor, pain running up her back. The bed was large so that she roll around all she wanted. The mattress was a gel formula, which molded to her crocked back and was quite comfortable. Most days, she didn't have any blankets on her, since it made her too hot, however, on winter days; she would cuddle up inside luke warm blankets. Catherine sat on her bed.

"Thank you Fredrick, you may leave" she said. The young man bowed slightly and left the room, closing the door behind her. Catherine slowly swung her legs around and almost immediately fell into a deep sleep.

Lieutenant Trainee Grade Ian Coulter nodded at his partner and lover, Lieutenant Trainee Grade Melissa Hunter. The two of them sat in the monitoring room, monitoring Dr. Hasley's vital signs. Melissa stared closely at a large screen in front of her.

"Looks normal, she's dreaming peacefully" she said. Ian nodded and stood. He opened the door to the room and looked over at Lieutenant Graham.

"She's asleep sir" he said. Graham nodded. Ian closed the door and sat back down, sighing. Melissa looked over at him.

"What?" she asked, blinking. Ian smiled and shook his head.

"I've said it before, I'll say it again, this is so boring" he grumbled, leaning forward. Melissa smiled at him and took his hand.

"Even with me here?" she purred. Ian smiled again and kissed her hand.

"Yes" he said, chuckling. Melissa pretended to be hurt and slapped him lightly across the face. Ian rubbed his cheek and kissed her softly.

"Course not, thinking if you makes me feel better" he said. The two of them had started this relationship while looking after the Doctor. Although it was a rule that love relationships weren't allowed in the UNSC, Lieutenant Graham was willing to make an exception, since they weren't really part of the UNSC anymore. They still worked for it, but were so far away from it. Ian stood up again after double checking the Doctor's vital signs.

"I'm hungry" he said and walked out of the room. Melissa followed him, keeping the door open. Lieutenant McConnell was already making his own lunch; hamburger and fries. Ian walked over and stole one of his fries. Fred looked up.

"Bastard" he said, grinning. Ian chuckled and opened his mouth, revealing his chewed up fry.

"Want it back?" he asked. Fred merely shook his head and sat down at a large kitchen table that was in the center of the room. Melissa sat down as well, a cup of coffee in her hands. Lieutenant Graham remained motionless, reading his book. The four of them, although usually quite, were good friends. Chatting and joking around with each other helped solve their boredom. Each of them wanted to be out with the UNSC, fighting the rebels and space pirates. However, they couldn't, and for that, were forced to suck it up.

Ian grabbed a bowl of soup and sat next to Melissa, offering some to her. She shook her head and continued to drink her coffee. Jonathan Graham finally stood up and walked over to them.

"Mail came in this morning, nothing special, few updates about the rebels and political ideals. Pretty useless shit" he said. Fredrick raised his head.

"What's going on with the rebels?" he asked. Being the youngest, Fredrick was always eager to here about battles and fights that they had experienced or was going on. Jonathan shrugged.

"Not much I'm afraid. After that battle in New Michigan, things have gone quiet" he said. Fredrick bowed his head and continued eating. Jonathan sniffed at his hamburger.

"Smells good, I want one" he said. Fredrick smiled and took a bite out of his meat burger. As Jonathan stood up, he looked out to the front foyer.

"Ian, can you close the door please" he asked, walking to the kitchen. Ian put his spoon down and walked over to the front door. As he did, Fredrick looked up from his burger.

"Thought I closed the door" he whispered, turning around. Without warning, a group of figures dressed in black appeared on the deck. Ian froze as he held the doorknob. The lead black figure held a silenced M6D pistol in his hands. He fired a single round. The bullet drove through Ian's neck and out the other side. His esophagus and windpipe were shattered. Blood flowed out of his mouth as he fell to the ground. Melissa screamed and dove to the floor. Fredrick stood, reaching for his gun. The black figure behind the lead one fired twice. One bullet hit him in the hip, while the other struck him in the chest. He stood stock still for a moment, looking at his wounds. The black figure fired again, hitting him just above the collar bone. Slowly, Fredrick dropped to his knees. He was still trying to get his gun out, but his life slowly disappeared and he fell to the floor. Melissa was running to her room, hoping to get her gun, but the lead black figure fired again, hitting her in the shoulder. She spiraled in the air and slammed into the wall, slowly falling to the ground. Lieutenant Graham, who had been hiding in the kitchen, dove at the lead black figure as he walked into the cottage. He grabbed hold of the man's gun and pointed it at his stomach. Quickly, the man retaliated and pushed it away. The gun fired, hitting the blood covered wall near Melissa. Jonathan growled viciously and swung his head forward, hitting the man in the nose. The man screamed as the mask he wore became soaked with blood. He lashed out with his boot, but Jonathan kicked it back down, digging his shoe into the man's shin. The man fell to one knee. Jonathan fired the gun, hitting the man in the face. As he fell, the Lieutenant turned to point his gun at the other black figures, but they all fired at once. Seven bullets slammed into Graham's unprotected body. He gasped and choked on his own blood which began flowing from his mouth. Jonathan fell backwards, hitting the chair that Fredrick had sat in. He rolled off to the left and died.

Unknown to Doctor Catherine Hasley, a group of six figures dressed in black combat armor were lifting her from her bed and taking her to an old Pelican dropship waiting for them a few kilometers away. She slept the entire time, not knowing her life was in great danger. Soon after her kidnapping, Lieutenant Melissa Hunter awoke after being knocked unconscious from the bullet wound she encumbered. With what strength was left in her body, she was able to write an e-mail message to the UNSC, telling them, that Doctor Hasley was gone. Then, she crawled to Lieutenant Coulter's prone figure and slowly died...

MJOLNIR, Chapter One

MJOLNIR, Chapter One

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we are slowly pulling into the New Toronto spaceport. If you could all please remain seated until the vessel has come to its mornings and docked, we can have you all out in no time. On behalf of the company and crew of Space Voyage Flight B12, I would like to thank you all for flying with us this afternoon and hope you have a pleasant stay here in New Toronto." The large passenger starship slowly steered itself along the ground, inside one of the spaceport's massive hangars, which was already loaded with starships of the same brand. A single shaft extended out of the hangar wall and attached itself to the ship, pulling it to a complete stop.

The passengers sitting inside the vessel took their safety belts off and began gathering their luggage. Sitting near the front of the craft, a man dressed in a black trench coat snapped awake and took off the headphones he wore around his head. The music he was listening too (Disturbed) blared into the room, causing many people to give him suspicious looks. Office of Naval Intelligence Special Field Agent Colin "Nemesis" Thompson quickly shut his small music player off and stuffed his headphones within a somewhat large bag he carried around his back. He allowed the people from the back of the vessel to get out first, while he double checked he had everything. Once finished, he breathed in deeply and followed the long line of civilian passengers out of the starship. He entered the long shaft that had attached itself to the ship and slowly began the long trek to the spaceport terminals and security checkpoints.

Special Field Agent Nemesis was a tall man, and because of the bulky Kevlar II bodysuit armor he wore under his trench coat, it gave the appearance that he was somewhat overweight. However, at other angles, it showed him as a bulky, muscular man, which he was. He had long, spiked up hair that was dyed blonde, but since he never had luck with hair dye products, it looked more highlighted than it did fully blond. His blue eyes surveyed the area around him, as he marched down the hall to the first security checkpoint. There were three guards stationed there, who had metal detectors and also a scanner to see what was in the passenger's bags. They stopped Colin and gave him a very frightened look, since he pretty much towered over them. The metal detector went crazy as the one guard scanned it around his body. Another guard was holding a small computer pad up to Nemesis's bag. His eyes went wide and he looked at his friends. Nemesis smirked. The probably found his modified MA5B assault rifle stored in it. The Agent sighed and reached into his pocket, pulling out his large wallet. He flipped through his various phony and true ID cards, before finding what he wanted. Putting his wallet away, he flipped the card in his hands and showed it to the lead security guard who was eyeing him with suspicion. The guard took the card and nodded at it. It was a simply black card, with the Office of Naval Intelligence's symbol centered in it. Nemesis was given his bag back and he moved on. He hoped the security guards called him through, so he wouldn't have to do that again.

They didn't. Agent Thompson passed through four more security checkpoints, receiving the same dark looks as before. He merely grabbed his card and showed it to them, and then he was allowed through. He hated traveling by public transport. He much preferred the private ships that ONI often provided, but since he had tried to retire several months ago and had only been reactivated two days before, he wasn't exactly allowed to get private transport like that.

Nemesis soon stood out in the sun, staring at the airship filled sky. Because ground cars were rarely used, a special highway system of force fields and barriers had been set up, basically ruining any chance to look at a sunset. The Agent stood still for several minutes, observing the large parking lot before him. He was surrounded by civilians, all trying to either get into the spaceport, or find their cars. However, Nemesis knew he was being watched. He glanced over to the rooftop of a large underground garage. Two repairmen were on top of it, working on some sort of antennae. However, Colin's sharp eyes could easily make out the small microphone on the one man's sweater and his partner's pair of binoculars. He looked slightly behind him to the left and could see a man sitting on a bench hide his face behind a newspaper. Nemesis smirked. ONI spooks were very bad at trying to hide themselves, especially since they had been trying to stalk him for many years. He was just too good for them.

A single man, dressed in a black suit, approached Colin from behind. He took out a cigarette and attempted to light it. He looked up at the back of Nemesis's head.

"Got a light?" he asked. That was the word. Nemesis turned around and nodded. The man nodded back and began walking towards the back of the parking lot. Colin waited a full five seconds, before following him. He passed several sky cars and could make out a pair of eyes watching him through the rear view mirror. Nemesis merely ignored it and followed the man to a black sky limousine parked in the very back of the parking lot. The passenger door opened, allowing Nemesis to crouch and get in. The man in the suit got into the driver's seat. In a matter of seconds, they were flying into the air, heading towards downtown New Toronto. Colin looked out his window, then tossed his bag beside him and sat back, trying to relax.

"I'm afraid this is no time to relax Nemesis" a voice said. The lights turned on and Agent Thompson stared into the eyes of his old employer; Lieutenant Colonel Adam Marleau. His chiseled, wrinkly features cracked into a smile. "How you doing Colin?" he asked. Nemesis shrugged.

"Pulled from my home, watched by your spooks, I dunno Adam, how should I feel?" he asked. Marleau nodded.

"I know, I expected you to be made, but this is serious Colin. This is big" he said, sipping at a glass of vodka in his hands. Adam reached beside him and handed Nemesis a large folder.

"What do you know about Dr. Hasley?" he asked, as Nemesis began looking through the bulky file.

"Top Brass Scientist, very valuable. She invented the Spartans" Colin said. Adam shrugged.

"That and she created the weapon that made the Spartans powerful. Ever heard of the term "Mjolnir?" Nemesis leaned back, putting the folder of records on this doctor.

"Norse god of war I think. It's some sort of hammer, a weapon" he said. Marleau nodded.

"MJOLNIR was the name of the armor that allowed the Spartans to be as powerful as they were. The only records that remain of it are stored in Doctor Hasley's brain"

"Few months ago, we received an e-mail from her secret staging area, where we're keeping her locked up, so that no one can gain access to her. It was from one of her body guards, a trainee Lieutenant if I remember correctly. It said that Doctor Hasley had been kidnapped. We sent a survey team over there and found Miss Hasley's entire security detail, dead. From the video records we obtained, there were seven figures, dressed in complete black that attacked and killed the guards. They then sedated the doctor and took her to a spot unknown to us, where she was taken to somewhere unknown to us" Marleau explained.

"How do you know she isn't dead?" Nemesis asked.

"Following week, we received another e-mail from an anonymous user. It merely said "MJOLNIR" which confirms that she is alive and her captors plan to use her knowledge of the MJOLNIR armor to create it for themselves" Adam replied.

"Who has her?" Nemesis asked. Marleau handed him another folder.

"So far, our sources point to Robert Watts Senior, leader of the new rebellion that's starting up again against the UNSC" he said. Nemesis found a single picture of the man. He was young, probably early thirties. His head was completely shaved, and the large wrinkles of skin hide his small watery eyes. Nemesis put the photograph away.

"Why would they want MJOLNIR?" he whispered.

"Quite simply Nemesis...if they successfully build an army of these things, they'll win this new war for sure. MJOLNIR beat the Covenant, it can sure as hell beat us" he said.

"So what's my mission sir?" Colin asked.

"We need to find and rescue Doctor Hasley, before she is either killed or her captors create a MJOLNIR combat armor. You are too infiltrate Mr. Watt's faction and retrieve whatever information you can. Once we've confirmed where the good doctor is, we send in the marines and have her freed, then you deal with Robert" Adam explained, finishing his glass of vodka. Colin nodded and looked out the window.

"Reconnaissance basically?" he asked. Adam shrugged.

"Your test and battle records indicate that's what your strong point is. You're the shadow Nemesis, you go unseen, no one can see you and those that do are killed for it" he said. Nemesis nodded.

"Any leads on Robert?" he asked.

"We've been following him for some time. I actually sent Field Agent Jackal to try and do the same mission you're starting now. He was killed by one of Watt's agents" Adam said sadly. "Today's Friday, which means that he goes to his usual strip club called "Skin." The place opens at ten, but he gets there around eleven. Go there and find out what you can. From there, we can try and help you with whatever destination or place you need to know about" Adam said. Nemesis nodded. Slowly, he could feel the sky limousine decelerating and descending to the ground. They were parked outside a small hotel. The passenger door opened and Nemesis got out. He said his goodbyes to Adam, then walked around to the driver's seat. The same man, who had confronted him at the spaceport, rolled down the window and looked up at the agent. He handed over some keys.

"Room number 17, you'll find whatever you need right in there" he said. Nemesis nodded and took the keys. He climbed the steps into the large building. The lobby was large and very spacious. However, since most people were still working, it was empty. He walked to the elevators, which took him to his destination. He inserted the key and opened the door.

The room wasn't much different than the other room he had been in before in his past. A single bed, large desk and chair, TV, bathroom with a shower. Colin flipped a nearby light switch. Not only did the small light over his bed turn on, but almost the entire wall frame behind his bed flipped over, revealing rows of guns and ammo. He flipped another switch and a highly powerful Personal Computer slide out onto his desk. Nemesis could see that there was already an e-mail there. He opened it and realized it was from Adam. It gave him the address for the strip bar Robert Watts Sr. went too. Nemesis closed the file and stood still. It was good to back...

MJOLNIR, Chapter Two

Slowly, day became night. Special Field Agent Colin "Nemesis" Thompson sat on the balcony, overlooking the streets of New Toronto. Slowly, the groups of men and women dressed in business suits and carrying briefcases were replaced with groups of men and women, carrying big bottles of liquor and a few packs of cigarettes. Nemesis sat in a small chair, sipping at a glass of water. He wasn't a heavy drinker, and usually drank the healthy stuff. He took another sip and chuckled as a nearby hobo jumped in front of a vehicle hovering along the road. The driver stopped and got out. The hobo quickly rushed away, forcing the driver to get back into his car and drive off. The streets of New Toronto used to be a lot cleaner and had a much friendlier environment. But that was when the Covenant were at large and everyone assumed they were going to die. Now that the entire alien alliance was dead, the normal routine returned and the friendly environment disappeared. The local police forces had absolutely no control over this area. They focused most of their attention in the air, watching out for speeding/uncontrolled sky cars. Because of this, most of the new rebel forces being started up started here in the suburbs. Colin finished his glass of water, and then stood up. The sun was nearly gone over the horizon and he could already make out the spotlights shining from the various night clubs being opened. Nemesis tossed the paper cup he used to drink his water from, and then walked into his apartment.

His clothing for the night was laid out on his bed. First, Nemesis took off his casual clothing that he wore when off duty, and slipped into his black combat body suit. As he zipped it up, he began to attach the various armor pieces onto his body. Torso plate, arm/wrist guards, shin guards, shoulder pads, thigh guards, and crotch/groin guard. When he slapped on his last piece of armor, he looked much like a Marine Regular during the Covenant war, except his armor was completely black, unlike the dull brown the marines wore. Colin then grabbed his gun belt and strapped it on around his waist. He then grabbed his USP handgun and slammed in a clip of 12.7 semi-automatic rounds. Normally, the M6D pistol used the 12.7 bullets, but because Nemesis liked the style and craft of the USP, he had his modified. Not only did it fire 12.7 rounds, but there was a red targeting laser he had attached to the bottom of the barrel of the gun. Nemesis quickly held the gun with both hands, and then scanned the room quickly with it, warming himself up if things got rough tonight. He twirled the light weapon in his one hand, and then holstered it. He then pocketed seven extra clips of ammo just in case. Next, Nemesis twirled two nine-inch combat knives in his hands, before pocketing them on the other side of his gun belt. Next, Colin threw on some black clothing. He wore dark, wide-legged pants and a long-sleeved shirt. They were black and somewhat baggy, so that it didn't allow his armor beneath to protrude too much. Following that, he threw his famous black trench coat over his shoulders and slipped his arms into the sleeves. Nemesis was the only ONI field agent to wear the trench coat. The other agents preferred suits and casual clothing. However, Colin had more of a dark side to him and preferred the trench coat. Before heading to the door, Nemesis gazed sadly at his COLT M4A1. His weapon had been modified as well, just like his USP. The assault rifle fired 7.62 armour-piercing rounds, just like the famous MA5B assault rifle. His weapon also featured a silencer and a scope. Nemesis would often switch between burst mode to single fire and sometimes full auto. But because he was a very good marksman, he didn't use auto fire a lot. His COLT M4A1 was his last option when stuck in a fire fight. When he started using that, he knew that he was in trouble. The weapon had a somewhat large kickback, because of the bullets it fired. However, several years of running into tight situations, Nemesis had gotten used to it. The last thing Colin put on was a pair of gloves that were cut at the knuckles, revealing his fingers. Most people called them biker gloves. He didn't complain.

The Special Field Agent stood still for a moment, before walking in front of the mirror hung up on the wall. He fixed his hair slightly, so that it spiked up more, then opened the door and locked it behind him. He walked down several flights of stairs, before reaching the lobby and out the main doors. The night air greeted him as he opened the doors and walked out. The sun was gone and the sky was illuminated with equal lines of sky cars and lights. Colin welcomed the cold breeze that greeted him. Wearing four layers of clothing, including his coat was very hot. Any type of cold breeze helped him get his job done. Colin crossed the street and began walking down it. The "Skin" strip bar was located several blocks east of his hotel. Nemesis simply had to walk down the street and hope that no one would bother him. Groups of gangs and drunken people were scattered all over the sidewalk. Nemesis pushed past them, ignoring the angry looks given to him. The neural implants in his eyes scanned each one of them. Most of them were clean, but the odd few had a small handgun or revolver on them. This made Nemesis slightly nervous, but he could handle it. He cleared the first gang, but was stopped by the second.

Three men turned to face Colin. The agent kept walking and watched as the middle man stepped forward and lowered his shoulder. Their shoulders met and the man was thrown back by the force from Colin's push. His two buddies stepped in front of him. Quickly, Colin punched both of them in the stomach, then in the head. They flipped over backwards, holding broken noses. The other man stood up, but Colin simply turned and slammed his fist into the guy's face, breaking his nose as well. He slumped over, moaning. Colin stood straight, and then kept on walking. Several drunken girls from across the street staggered over to him, clapping and cheering.

"Way to go girl" one of them said.

"That's not a girl you fool" her friend retorted. Nemesis left the group of girls to bicker at each other. No sooner did he get away from them and closer to the flashing lights from the strip bar, than another problem came by.

A mugger appeared out of an alley, a gun in his hand. Nemesis could hear him following him as he continued walking at his somewhat slow pace. He could hear the man cock the weapon and cough slightly. Colin eventually stopped and turned around. The man held the weapon up and grinned. It was a silver Desert Eagle, quite a powerful gun. Nemesis however didn't show any emotion and looked at the man, who was chuckling. He also seemed to be drunk.

"Give me your...your thing...the...the wallet thing" he said, staggering slightly. Nemesis pretended to be scared. He held his hands up.

"Okay sir, okay, just don't shoot me" he whined. The man laughed and moved in to push him. Nemesis lashed out, grabbing his hand and broke the man's wrist. The mugger screamed and dropped the gun. Colin grabbed it as it fell, and then whirled around, kicking the liquor bottle that was held in his other hand. It flew onto the street and exploded. The man staggered backwards, but Colin fired a single shot, hitting him in the back of the knee. The drunken mugger fell, yelling and cursing in pain. Colin turned and began walking away, smirking. He took out the clip of ammo and tossed the gun to a nearby hobo, who was laughing at the mugger. The rest of the walk to the bar was undisturbed.

As soon as Colin reached the bar, he nearly fell over from a seizure. From what he could, some people already had beaten him to it. The amount of flashing lights used in decoration was huge and blinded him as the agent walked up to the line of people. Three huge guards stood in front of the main entrance, letting people in one at a time. Nemesis walked right up to them and held out a ticket that was given to him by his employer, Adam Marleau. The one guard nodded and opened the door. Nemesis walked inside and was practically blasted away by the huge, pulsing beat of the techno music being played. Nemesis walked through a line of curtain and entered the Skin strip bar.

Adam Marleau had been mistaken. Although the amount of scantly-clad women was huge, the place was more of a late night dance club than it was strip bar. There were no nude dancers, showing off their body to onlookers. There was a huge, multi-coloured stage in the middle of the large square room. Along the sides was the actual bar, loaded with people and a dozen bartenders. Nemesis looked up to see a second level, which had tables and chairs. There was obviously some sort of snack area up there. Nemesis began pushing his way through the people dancing. Groups of girls giggled and gave him appraising looks as he passed. Nemesis ignored them. He never thought he was good looking and maybe he wasn't. The girls were probably just horny and wanted someone easy to get. Sadly, Nemesis was here for business, not pleasure. He walked around the large stage, which was loaded with dancing girls and men. Colin also noticed that the majority of the people here were girls. They walked around in groups, wearing revealing clothes and even showing off their breasts to onlookers and groups of men with currency credits in their hands. Nemesis shook his head and found a seat at the bar. He did a quick look around to see if his target was near. Robert Watts Senior wasn't present he finally concluded, and then turned to a bartender who approached him.

"What's up? What can I get you?" he asked. The man was somewhat old, mid-fifties. However, his hair remained a light brown and his eyes sparkled. His voice was very hoarse, suggesting overuse of cigarettes. Nemesis nodded at him.

"Hey, can I get a martini?" he asked. The bartender nodded.

"Wow, haven't made one of those in awhile. You don't seem like the one to be partying like the rest of these hoes, what you here for?" he asked, as he began preparing the drink. Nemesis realized that this man might be part of Robert Watt's faction.

"Business sadly, I'm looking for Robert Watts, you know him?" he asked. The man laughed as he began pouring the martini.

"Robert Watts was killed almost thirty years ago. Captured by the UNSC" he said. Nemesis shook his head.

"I'm looking for Robert Watts Senior" he said, correcting his mistake. The man paused as he grabbed an olive. He looked at Colin, and then handed the glass over.

"What do you want with him?" he asked. Nemesis took a sip of the drink. It was quite good and he waited for the warm liquid to flow into his body.

"Just want to meet him, I'm thinking of joining his faction" he said. The bartender leaned back and nodded.

"Wait here. Shorty! Take over for me" the man said, yelling at a nearby bartender, who nodded at him. The man then disappeared into some sort of back room. Nemesis took a moment to look around. Watching the people dancing and jumping around was making his head twirl and he looked away for a second. He noticed doors positioned around the bottom level of the club. He squinted slightly and could groups of men and women going into them with excited looks on their faces. Nemesis rolled his eyes. Private rooms for private pleasure. As he sipped away at his drink, a man wearing dark clothing walked up to him.

"Nemesis" he whispered. Colin whirled around and looked at the man. He had his one arm outstretched and Colin could make out a small disc protruding from his coat. He took the man's hand and shook it. The disc slide into Colin's hand. He retraced his arm and nodded at the man, who returned the nod, then walked off. Nemesis put his drink aside and looked down at the disc. It was an audio message from Adam. He held it up to his ear.

"Nemesis, new game plan. Our original idea was for you to meet Robert Watts Senior as an arms dealer, wanting to do business. We just found out that Mr. Watt's fake background check indicates that he is an arms dealer. I want you to meet him, but act as if you wish to buy weapons. I'm sure that you're familiar with the various weapons in this world. We've set up a secure bank account filled with 5 million credits. Buy some guns, and use that money to pay for it. Act nice too; maybe he'll let you join his faction. Good luck." Following the message, the numbers of a bank account entered his ear. Nemesis quickly memorized the numbers, and then pocketed the disc. He turned around in his seat and watched the same bartender approach him.

"Robert Watts Senior is in number thirteen private room" he said, pointing along the wall surrounding the dance floor. Nemesis gulped down the rest of his drink and nodded at the bartender.

"Thanks for the drink" he said, then walked off. Number thirteen was located in the far corner of the square room. Nemesis pushed his way through groups of girls and swore to himself that he felt several of them reach for his crotch. Colin shook his head and kept on walking. He reached the door and turned the knob. It opened, leading into a small hallway. Another door greeted Nemesis. He opened it and walked into a spacious bedroom.

Robert Watts Senior stood in the middle of the room, zipping up his pants. On the bed were three girls, all giggling and licking their lips. They also wore nothing but there underwear. Colin shook his head as he walked in, and then closed the door behind him. Robert turned around and smiled at him as he finished getting his pants on.

"How you doing?" he asked. Colin nodded and offered his hand.

"Mr. Watts, I'm Ian Bishop, ex-marine from the UNSC" he said. Robert wiped his hands and shook Colin's hand.

"I'm Robert Watts Senior as you already know Mr. Bishop, what can I do for you?" he asked.

"I hear that you are an arms dealer?" Colin asked. Robert nodded.

"Yes, yes, and wide variety of weapon I sell, from small handguns and sedatives, to large explosive shit" he said. Colin smiled.

"Well, I need some weapons, can you hook me up?" he asked. Robert grinned and turned to the girls. He bent over and tossed them their clothes.

"Okay ladies, time to go" he said. They all pouted, by got dressed. Watts moved to his coat and removed three small bars of credits, which he handed to the girls, They giggled to each other as they left, staring at Colin as they went. Watts began putting his shirt on.

"Devils they are" he chuckled. Colin laughed as well.

"I bet" he said.

"You planning on getting some tonight?" Watts asked, as he threw his coat over his shoulders.

"Nah, got mine yesterday, taking a break" Colin answered. Watts laughed at that, and then sat down on the bed.

"Please, take a seat" he said. Colin complied and sat down. Watts leaned forward. "What can I get you?" he asked. Nemesis quickly thought for a second.

"I need thirty M6D and M8D pistols, thirty MA5B assault rifles, twenty MA7B Battle rifles, thirty SMG 500s, ten S3 A4 sniper rifles and ten M19 SSF Hades rocket launchers" he said, calculating quickly in his head. Robert Watts did the same, before leaning back.

"My my, planning on starting a war?" he asked, laughing. Colin shrugged.

"Perhaps, the idea of starting up my own faction came to my mind, but I'm still not sure. Could you hook me up with those weapons?" he asked. Watts thought for a moment.

"For a price naturally" he said. Nemesis laughed.

"Of course, this is my favourite part. I offer two million" he said. Watts immediately shook his head.

"Seven" he said.

"Four fifty?" Nemesis offered.

"Six" Watts said again.

"Five, that's my final offer" Colin stated. Watts smiled.

"Run out of money?" he asked. Colin grinned. "Very well, five million credits" Watts said. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a pad and pen. Nemesis then recited the weapons he wanted to the man and Robert wrote them down. He stood up.

"Three days from now, I'll meet you in the abandoned military hangar on the outskirts of the city, you know of it?" Watts asked as he and Nemesis walked to the door.

"Yeah, been there before trying to loot the place, not much there" Nemesis said. That wasn't true, but he had used the place as a hideout once. Watts nodded.

"I've already looted it" he said, laughing. "Three days, I'll meet you there. Just arrive alone; my men will escort you to me. Make sure you have that money by then" he said. They walked out of the bedroom and entered the dancing area. Nemesis nodded.

"Got it" he said. The two men shook his hands.

"I'll see you soon then" Watts said and began walking through the crowd. Nemesis gave a small wave, and then exited the bar after grabbing another drink. The streets were filled with more groups of drunken people. It was now twelve o'clock in the morning. Nemesis looked down both ways of the streets. He couldn't think of anything else to do. He gave one last look at the bar, and then with a swish of his coat, he waved off down the street, back to his apartment...

MJOLNIR, Chapter Three

The dance club event passed quickly and the three days that Robert Watts made Colin wait went by extremely fast. Over the course of those three days, Colin did absolutely nothing. Because he couldn't leave the city at all, in case Mr. Watts called him, he remained on his balcony, watching the sun rise and set everyday. He had a short conversation with Adam Marleau, his employer, but other than that, he did nothing. During the evening of the third day, Nemesis received a call by one of Watts's employees.

"Hello?"

"Is this Ian Bishop?"

"Yes"

"Mr. Watts wishes to remind you of your little appointment with him tonight at eleven"

"I haven't forgotten, thank you"

"Your welcome." Colin heard the end of the other line go dead. He put his small phone receiver and sighed deeply. It was now six o'clock, which gave Colin five hours to get prepared. He picked up the phone again and dialed a number.

"Office of Naval Intelligence" a lady's voice said.

"Adam Marleau please" Colin said.

"One moment," there was a brief pause, followed by the Lieutenant Colonel's voice, "Marleau"

"Adam, this is Nemesis" Colin said.

"Ah, Nemesis, good, what's up?" Adam asked.

"Just got a call from one of Robert's men, tonight's still a go" he said.

"Good, what's your plan?" Adam asked again.

"I go, I get the weapons, I leave" Colin suggested.

"Not exactly my friend. Because we want you to get in closer to Watt's organization, I've arranged for a small surprise" Adam said. This worried Colin right away.

"A surprise?" he asked.

"Yes, I've took the liberty in tipping off an extremist faction called the Slaughter Men. They are extreme enemies of Robert Watts, since he apparently killed their leader several months ago. At exactly midnight, they will attack. Defend Robert Watt's and his men, and hope that he admires this and let's you join" Adam explained.

"Makes sense. How many do you reckon?" Colin asked.

"Twenty, maybe thirty, they are actually quite large" Adam said.

"Great..."

"Oh please, it's nothing you can handle" Adam said, chuckling.

"I suppose. I have to call in one favor though" Colin said, suddenly thinking of a small snag.

"Anything"

"I need a truck, a big one preferably. I need something to carry all these stupid weapons" Colin said.

"You got it, we have one heading to you now" Adam said.

"Great, I think that's it. I'll be heading out in a couple of hours" Colin said.

"I got to go for now, conference meeting before I leave for home" Adam said.

"What are the plans for tonight?" Colin asked.

"Pray you'll be okay" Adam said.

"Pray? Why would you-"

"Gotta go, bye." Colin held the phone receiver away from his ear as the line went dead. He shrugged, and then hung up the phone, shaking his head afterwards. Adam liked to joke around, and this one just one of those times that he was trying to make Colin worry. He wasn't worried. Rebel factions had unclear, very disorganized battle tactics. Colin would simply be shooting ducks running across an open field.

For three of the five hours he had left, Colin simply relaxed. He leaned back in his lawn chair on his balcony and watched the sun set over the building rooftops. It felt like he was about to go to the dance club to meet Robert Watts again. The atmosphere was very familiar. Groups of drunken people gathering at street corners, drug dealers and hobos harassing people. It was as if every night was a party night for these people. Colin stood once again and got dressed in the same clothes that he wore three days ago to the dance club. While he was loading his weapons, and pocketing extra clips of ammunition, a black civilian-class Warthog pulled up in front of the hotel room. Colin did another quick check of himself, then grabbed a black duffel bag and put his COLT M4A1 into it. He swung it over his shoulder and walked down to the vehicle. The driver, an ONI agent stepped out of the driver's seat and offered his hand.

"Agent Nemesis?" he asked. Nemesis took the man's hand and nodded. "Field Agent Dark Wolf, been given strict orders to assist you tonight" the man said. Nemesis cocked an eyebrow.

"Dark Wolf, I work alone" he began, but the man shook his head.

"I know, so do I, I don't want to be here more than you want me here, but I have orders" he said. Nemesis stared at the agent for a moment, and then shrugged.

"And we all know how wrong it is to disobey orders" he said, rolling his eyes and throwing his bag into the bag of the vehicle. Dark Wolf laughed.

"Well, this meeting of yours starts in a few minutes, let's hit the road" he said and jumped into the driver's seat. Nemesis nodded and climbed into the side seat. The interior of the Warthog was extremely spacious. It was designed for four people, but Dark Wolf had removed the two back seats, providing more room in the back. Nemesis strapped himself in.

"You know where you're going?" he asked. Dark Wolf nodded and started the engine.

"UNSC Hangar D-5, abandoned ten years ago" he quoted. Nemesis nodded and laughed. Dark Wolf stepped on the gas and their vehicle roared forward, scaring a group of drunken hookers off the road. Dark Wolf was a very violent driver. He didn't stop for anyone, and the streets were crowded with people, majority of them drunk. However, the horn of the Warthog and its loud engine made them move quickly. Before Nemesis knew it, they were exiting the city, and driving along an empty road. He turned to the agent beside him.

"What are your plans when we get there?" he asked the man. Dark Wolf didn't even look at Nemesis and kept his eyes focused on the dark road.

"With Mr. Watts's permission, I'm going to accompany you into the base, because the rebels will be approaching from the road, and will most likely shoot me. If Watts does not agree, I'll probably hide in the car and ambush them from behind" he said. Nemesis nodded. His original plan was completely messed up now.

"Do you have a name?" he asked. Dark Wolf smiled.

"Name's Jim Reynolds" he said, adapting a Texan accent. Nemesis chuckled at this.

"All right, here we go" he said, as Dark Wolf pulled the Warthog into the parking lot of the abandoned hangar. It wasn't much to look at. A row of large hangars, which normally would've held sky/space vehicles, but were now abandoned. Nemesis jumped out of the vehicle and noticed three men walking towards him. One of them activated his flashlight.

"You Bishop?" he asked. Nemesis nodded. The man looked at Dark Wolf.

"The agreement was for you to come alone" the man growled, a gun slowly being pulled out from under his coat. Bishop held his hands up.

"He's my second-in-command, I needed his truck and he asked to assist me, that's all he's here to do" he said. The man looked over at Dark Wolf, who smiled and waved. The man finally nodded.

"Bring your car to the second hangar" the man ordered and began to jog in that direction, the other two henchmen flanking him. Colin climbed back into the Warthog.

"Second hangar" he said and Dark Wolf drove to their destination. He parked the Warthog out front of the opened hangar, dust skidding out from the huge tires. Nemesis got out first, closely followed by Dark Wolf. Out of the hangar, came Robert Watts Junior. He smiled.

"Mr. Bishop, good to see you" he said, then paused as he noticed Dark Wolf. Colin quickly stepped in.

"He's just here to help with the guns Mr. Watts. Jim Reynolds is a close friend and supports my views against the UNSC" he said. Robert offered his hand.

"Robert Watts" he said. Dark Wolf took it.

"I'm Jim Reynolds, pleasure to meet you" the agent said. Watts smiled.

"Not a problem, now, let's do business" he said and walked inside. Nemesis and Dark Wolf followed him, flanked by the three men who had greeted them when they first pulled in. Watts lead them into the very middle of the hangar, which was light up by a single spot light in the center of the ceiling. The light shone down on a large table, which held all of the weapons that Colin had asked for at the dance club. He grinned and looked them over; making sure that everyone was there. He reached out to touch one, but one of Watt's henchmen interfered. Nemesis looked at Robert, who smiled.

"Where's my money?" he asked. Nemesis smiled and looked off to the far left of the table. A laptop sat on it, revealing an empty bank account. Nemesis kneeled in front of it and allowed his hands to hover over the keyboard. Another henchman appeared and pointed at the screen.

"Simply type in the amount of money you wish to transfer, and the account in which it comes from" he said, his breath heavy with nicotine and alcohol. Nemesis nodded and typed away. He finished with the typing and pressed "Return." A blue bar appeared and was immediately filled up to red. A box appeared, blinking "TRANSFER COMPLETE." Nemesis stood up and looked at the henchmen standing behind him. He nodded at Robert, who smiled.

"Currency, where would the world be without it" he said, laughing. Nemesis chuckled as well and took another look at the weapons laid out on the table. The vast amount of power that Robert Watts had gathered in three days was quite amazing to him. He started to worry what other powers he had and what he would do with him. Hopefully, if all went well, he would eventually find out.

Robert Watts had brought ten henchmen with him, who all started to pack up the weapons in separate duffel bags and carry them out to Dark Wolf's Warthog. Nemesis and the ONI agent also helped out, chatting with Watts about possible battle plans he was going to use against the UNSC. They all gathered around the Warthog, tossing the big bags of weapons into the bag. Nemesis carefully placed four Hades rocket launchers, and then looked at his watch. 11:52 blinked at him. He looked around for a second to the main road, before heading to the front of the Warthog. His COLT M4A1 was still in the small backpack he brought along. Nemesis checked to make sure that it was still fully loaded, then assisted more the henchmen with transferring the weapons. Dark Wolf seemed to notice the attack would be coming soon. He had stopped helping for a moment and was looking in the driver's seat of the Warthog.

The roar of engines startled Nemesis and he whirled around to see what it was. Three Warthogs appeared out of the hangar, each of them with a M41 LAAG chain gun on the back. Robert Watts smiled at Nemesis's surprised face.

"Relax Mr. Bishop; there are the babies that brought us here. Stole them from a UNSC highway patrol station" he said, patting the lead Warthog. Nemesis nodded.

"Nice job, you even got the ones with the chain guns on the back" he said, marveling at the huge mounted weapon.

"We made a few adjustments to it. It's more accurate, since we made the barrels slightly smaller. The rounds themselves are somewhat explosive, so when they hit something, they exploded into shrapnel" he said.

"Impressive" Nemesis mused. Suddenly, one of the henchmen nearby walked toward Robert.

"Hey boss, we got a problem" he said, pointing down the road. Nemesis and Watts both turned to see a column of five vehicles driving full speed down the large road, headlights blinding them. Nemesis realized that these were the Slaughter Men. He looked at Watts, who was glaring at him.

"You brought the heat you son of a bitch" he growled, pulling out his pistol. Nemesis raised his hands.

"Mr. Watts, I assure you, Reynolds and I came alone, these goons are not with us" he said, pointing to the advancing group of vehicles. Robert wasn't buying it and he cocked his pistol.

"I always hate this part of weapons dealing" he said. Nemesis thought that he was going to pull the trigger, when thousands of bullets flew at them, pinging off the armor of the Warthogs. Nemesis dove forward, taking cover behind one of the lead Warthogs. The gunner of the back turned to fire, but large volleys of chain gun fire smashed into him. The henchmen fell off the back of the vehicle, dead.

The column of vehicles parked themselves a few meters away from their position. Nemesis squinted through the blinding lights and could make out figures dressed in black armor jump out and move in towards them, MA5B assault rifles up and firing. He pulled out his modified USP and fired off four rounds, killing on of the advancing rebels. He sidestepped, avoiding bullets fired at him, then fired again. Robert Watts lay on the ground near him, panting and holding his arm which was bleeding. Nemesis crouched beside him and reloaded.

"I told you, these aren't mine" he yelled. Watts nodded, and then was dragged off by two of his henchmen. Nemesis watched him go, before running to Dark Wolf's Warthog. The ONI agent had a M6D pistol out in his hands and was firing wildly at the rebels approaching them.

"This is fucking insane, rebels don't have these kind of battle tactics" he roared, watching a flanking group of rebel soldiers lay on the ground, providing Dark Wolf with a harder target to hit. Nemesis shook his head.

"Guess we underestimated them" he said. Dark Wolf nodded, and then reloaded. Nemesis moved to the back of their Warthog and grabbed the nearest duffel bag. He ripped it open and took out two MA5B assault rifles. He loaded both of them, then stood on top of the Warthog and fired. The twin assault rifles sprayed bullets at the advancing rebels, forcing them to take cover. Nemesis's eyes adjusted to the blinding headlights, allowing him to be more accurate in his shots. He could make out five M12 LRVs parked in front of them. The rebels ranged in the twenties, not including the five men on the chain guns. They turned and targeted Nemesis, who dove off the Warthog to the right, still firing as he flew in the air. He landed and rolled, then dove back behind the Warthog, reloading his assault rifles. Robert Watts's henchmen were gathered around the three Warthogs, firing their handguns, and missing horribly. Nemesis tossed assault rifles to them, and then grabbed another duffel bag. He pulled out a Hades rocket launcher. Grinning, Nemesis slammed a rocket pack of two 110mm rockets into the large chamber and held it over his shoulder. The small targeting eye piece flipped out and switched to infrared, allowing the agent to see clearly. Nemesis activated the heat vision mode and fired off the first rocket. It flew straight, then arched into the air and slammed into one of the Warthogs firing at them. The vehicle flew up into the air, fire and wreckage trailing it. The gunner on the back lay dead a few feet away. Nemesis fired the other rocket, and a second Warthog erupted in flame. The agent tossed the empty rocket launcher aside and rushed to get more weapons. Two henchmen moved past him, firing their assault rifles. Dark Wolf had grabbed a battle rifle and was doing his best to pick off the advancing soldiers. The headlights that were still turned on, on the enemy Warthogs blinded them and prevented them from targeting their enemies with precise accuracy. Nemesis eventually found his COLT M4A1. He smiled and cocked the weapon; double checking to make sure the clip of 7.62 armor-piercing rounds was still in it. Satisfied he crouched beside one of the massive wheels of his Warthog and brought the weapon up to his shoulder. He switched to burst mode and opened fire on the nearest group of rebel soldiers. The weapon kicked back against his shoulder as the bullets flew out of the barrel and slammed into their targets. Two of the five rebel soldiers fell dead from head shots. Nemesis fired two more additional bursts, killing two more soldiers. He then pulled out his USP and finished off the clip on the last soldier. He reloaded both of his weapons, and then moved into the open, holding both of them aloft. He fired continuously, hitting each of his targets. He was about to rush at the enemy, when his guns stopped firing. Two bullets slammed into him, cracking off his armor. Nemesis grunted in pain, and then retreated, still holding his empty weapons. Dark Wolf rushed to him.

"You all right?" he demanded, helping Nemesis sit down. The agent nodded.

"I didn't get pierced, everything's fine" he said, breathing heavily. Dark Wolf nodded.

"We gotta get out of here buddy, there's too many of the bastards and we can't see shit" he said, firing his battle rifle again. Nemesis nodded and reloaded both of his weapons. He stood and rushed to where Robert Watts lay. The man was okay, but his arm was bleeding badly from a bullet wound. He looked up at Nemesis, who crouched beside him.

"We have to leave, there's too many for us to handle" he said. Watts nodded.

"Load up the 'Hogs!" he yelled. His six remaining henchmen stopped firing and began to prep the vehicles for departure. Nemesis helped Watts off the ground and placed him in the side seat of one of the Warthogs. The henchmen of the same vehicle climbed into the driver's seat, but a volley of bullets slammed into him. He slumped forward on the wheel, dead. Nemesis swore and dumped the body out onto the ground. He looked at Dark Wolf, who was getting into his own Warthog, along with another henchman. Colin jumped into the driver's seat of the Warthog beside him and revved the engine. He looked behind him to see the other Warthogs ready. Bullets still flew at them, and the enemy chain guns were being manned. The henchman on the back of Dark Wolf's 'Hog held a Hades rocket launcher. He fired the two rounds, destroying two more of the Warthogs. Nemesis stepped on the gas and the vehicle roared forward, skidding along the sand. Bullets pinged off the armor plating, but Nemesis didn't stop. He reached the road, the other three Warthogs behind him, still shooting at the rebel soldiers. Slowly, the abandoned military hangar disappeared, and the chain guns stopped firing. Nemesis breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Watts, who was staring forward. The man turned and nodded at Nemesis.

"You did well tonight, no one that I've ever known would've stayed to help fight off those enemies. Welcome to Genocide13" he said. Nemesis looked at Robert Watts for a moment, before nodding, then turning back to the ground. His mission was going well so far, he was inside the snake's nest...
