Hell Fire - Prologue and Under the Storm

Prologue
As Sargent Mayfield moved along the empty corridors of the large battle station, he wondered why he was being called to the command deck. He had been requesting a meeting with his commanding officer, but his request hadn't been fulfilled. This upset him for he had urgent maters to speak to the officer about some thing he had seen while he was on the observation deck. He was one of the few left on the space station, over Cincinnati, as the large stations were under much heavier attack as of this day. He wondered what was happening on the earth but all he had received, was news of the devastating attack on New Mombassa, the station had received this news only days before. As the Sargent walked onto an observation deck he saw two marines staring into the distance. They were not speaking as he looked over to them he stopped and a wave of horror crossed his withered face. He let out a stifled gasp; this confirmed all of his thoughts. He began to run but it was much to late.

Under The Storm
There were little supplies and a small chance of the team making it through the night. John Framton wondered what the hell he had gotten himself into. It was raining hard which didn't help anything. The rain pored down in sheets, like icy bullets and soon Frampton and his men where drenched. But all that did was bring back Frampton's thoughts of how this all began.
The day had started as any other they were called in because of frightened stories of the sound of hovercraft in the area. Though there was no real evidence, it was too risky to not check it out these days. As Frampton's team moved into the area of the calls the did as they had trained knocking on doors seeing if anyone was stupid enough not to evacuate as they were told. There were mostly the same people as always complaining that we were paranoid or the ever irritating people who thought that they should fight they gave them the same overly played out speech about how they can go to sign up for the core at their nearest military facility.
They searched the entire area till their feet were sore and then some. They found nothing. So Frampton told the team to stop at a park near the middle of the residential district where they had lunch. It was about then things started getting weird. As they sat and ate their lunches there was a sound in the distance. At first the team though that it was just another siren and decided they should wait to be called before going into action. But after listening for a few seconds the noticed it was to high pitched to be a siren and not long after this realization did they confirm that it was coming from above and moving towards them. The entire team looked up just in time towards the cloud-covered sky to see a burning pelican come hurtling toward them. The all dove and scrambled to get up and run as the burning mess whirled towards them like a missile.
"Holy shit, that was close." Said one very shaken marine. There was another sound as another marine let out his lunch all over the grass.
"Sir?" A marine named Jeff called to Frampton who was in a state of shock.
"Yes." He said sternly as he snapped out of his zone.
"Are you alr…"
"Yes I am fine." Said Frampton ignoring the cautious marine. "I wan a plasma check on this ship immediately I wana know where it got shot and with what." Frampton commanded as he sternly looked on his soldiers. "Now!" The soldiers heard the command and at once began getting out their tools. As Frampton watched the soldiers scurry around he felt something wet on his head and looked up. As he looked towards the sky droplets of water fell all around them. There was a flash of light and a clap of thunder.
"Pack up your equipment men it looks like its going to rain heavily so le…"
"SIR! There is something moving in the pelican, and it's not human."
"Well, Pump it full of lead and lets move." There was a rattle of gunfire and a small scream "Well lets move boys." Called Frampton as he put his backpack on and began to walk away.
"What the fuc…"There was a blood curtailing noise and Frampton spun around. He and the rest of the team moved slowly toward their fallen comrade. He was kneeling on the ground back arched as if in monstrous pain he began to squirm and let out blood curdling wails.
"Carl?" There was a sound of ripping flesh and the team back away slowly.
"What the fuck?" one man murmured. But no one knew what was happening in the darkness of the pouring rain. Then there was a flash of light and the whole team saw the most disgusting thing they had ever seen. Their comrade was standing up battle rifle in hand with what looked like a balloon strapped to his head. His eyes were cold and lifeless his flesh was groping aver his body and his face contorted, his head hung limp.
"Oh my God", a marine whimpered.
"What the hell is that!?" cried another. Then, it moved slowly at first but then with increasing speed through the rain. Then came the small ones it looked like only a few but, then they began to swarm the ground like insects. The marines ran. They ran for their lives. Until they stopped and found cover. Then they waited…
