Gorjn Yujont Series: Escape from Rudts 2
Date: 27 May 2004, 7:01 PM
Gorjn Yujont dodged behind the rocks of the planet Rudts 2. Jintanan, Gorjn's close friend was with him along with Orfanse, a jackal that had became one of the finest jackal assassins on the planet, but had eventually gone a little haywire on a group of elites and brutes that were going to kill his family. Having been shot in the left leg, he now has a permanent limp. They also had a following of a small group of fellow grunts, a few scattered jackals, and one of the original hunters that escaped before the elites had made all the clones they needed. Right now they were all trying to get to a ship the last of the rebel elites had set up for them that could support their group long enough to find some permanent area to live. Orfanse whispered over to Gorjn, " I think I hear some brutes coming around the corner. If we don't hurry there's going to be hell," he said in his raspy voice. Gorjn smelled the air for the scent of a brute. Yes, the unmistakable stench of a one wafted through the air. Gorjn almost wrenched with disgust, "I can't stand the odor of those flea ridden dogs." Suddenly, a crash came from behind. One of the clumsier grunts knocked over a near-by waste disposer. No one even had enough time to smack the idiot over the head before the blood-curtailing howl of a brute that has found its prey was heard. This was almost instantly followed by a shot from a slug thrower that hit the poor butterfingered grunt right in the methane pack on his back. Jintanan, who had always had a weak stomach for the violent nature of the times they lived in, vomited with fear and rage as he watched the sad little grunt suffocate from the lack of the precious methane it needed to survive. The hunter that was in the group called Hajeon, (a strangely compassionate hunter) picked up the now dead grunt, and then set the small creature aside gently. The brute that had shot the grunt now tried to snipe out the small areas between the thick armor plates on Hajeon. Fortunately, the slug thrower's shots were so inaccurate that they missed by a mile. Hajeon swung around with unmatched fury. Charging towards the brute, Hajeon smashed an elite that had come along to investigate the noise. He and the brute locked arms as a battle went on around them. Orfanse had stood his ground as he took out a group of grunts that had come with the elite, but had quickly gotten out of the way when Hajeon came along and tossed the elite away like it was a rag doll. The rest of the troop had swiftly retreated behind some rocks, and some had been shot when the battle had first started. As one of Gorjn's companions fell beside him and as the methane seeped out of its tank, Gorjn suddenly realized that his methane tank was getting low. "How're you holding up?" asked Jintanan. "Not that great," hollered Gorjn over the roar of the battle, "my methane tank is getting really low. If I don't find a place to refill..." Gorjn trailed off as he checked his methane level that was rapidly depleting. Jintanan shot a fully charged shot at one of the approaching jackals and took out his shield. That was quickly followed by a barrage of shots from their remaining group of jackals and grunts. Even though they were doing a fair amount of damage to the Covenant forces our numbers were dwindling. Suddenly, a large sickening crack followed by a scream of a brute dieing was heard. Hajeon had broken the brute in half and was now charging up his fuel rod cannon, aiming at the cluster of remaining enemy forces. The covenant flew in every direction as the shot hit the group. "The rebels won't wait forever, if we want to get off this hell hole we better hurry," said Orfanse warily. He was still expecting another battle to break out any minute, and wanted to keep as quiet as possible. Gorjn, whose tank was almost on empty, gasped in pain, "Go on with out me I need to find a place to refill my methane tank." A few of the group members objected to him getting separated from the group, and Jintanan even offered to give Gorjn some methane from his tank. But Jintanan was also pretty low, and had barely enough to get to the ship before he ran out himself. However, Orfanse insisted to come along with him for protection if Gorjn got into trouble or ran out of methane. They crept along the between the buildings and rocks. Gorjn was now trying to save methane by taking smaller and less frequent breaths. Orfanse spotted a methane pack building where the Covenant made grunt suits and methane tanks. The building was lightly guarded by a few jackals and an elite. They were able to sneak in and get a methane pack for Gorjn, and new plasma weapons for both of them. Then all of a sudden, the alert of a elite was heard. "A Camo," whispered Orfanse. "Don't worry, I can't see him but I can hear him." Orfanse turned around and let off a few shots from his plasma rifle. An elite fell to the ground dead where Orfanse had shot. "Lets get out of here!" yelled Gorjn as he hopped into a shadow's driver's seat as Orfanse got in gunners. They went shooting out of the factory as plasma went flying over there head. "We only have a minute to get on the ship!" Orfanse screamed over the sound of the battle. Banshees came at them in a group looking like a swarm of angry hornets. The shadow they were in was blown to parts as the banshees shot it with a barrage of fuel rod cannon fire. They had hopped out just before it blew up, and quickly hid so that the Covenant would think they were dead. Apparently it worked because they enemy commotion died down. As they came to the area where their group was going to be picked up they saw the ship already lifting away. They were too late, and now the only chance to get off the planet was now flying out of the hemisphere. "Damnit," growled Gorjn in frustration. Gorjn had never been one for self pity. He was a smart grunt at the age of 15. Making him middle aged, for grunts only live to the age of 30. Already he was calculating another way to find a way off Rudts 2. Orfanse stayed calm as well as he said, "come on, we got to find a new ship." "Yah we do," said Gorjn with a smirk. "Lets get to the Covenant base, we have a ship to steal."
This is a story that I might turn into a seris later but for right now I'm keep it as a single story
Gorjn Yujont Seris: Escape from Rudts 2; Part 2
Date: 29 May 2004, 9:04 PM
Gorjn and Orfanse snuck between the buildings as they tried to get to the central base of the Covenant. Orfanse swore under his breath, "Damnit, why couldn't those assholes wait one more minute?!" "They had already waited too long. They might have been captured or killed if they waited any more. Initiation of the old T6 specter takes about five minutes. They might have already been killed by the patrol orbiting the planet," Whispered Gorjn. The two companions crawled closer to the main gate. The entire city was crawling with covenant forces. They both had camo, but Orfanse had to ditch his shield because for some strange reason they couldn't cover it up. Orfanse, with his advanced senses was able to count six elites, 23 grunts, 15 jackals, seven brutes, and 4 pairs of hunters. They had to be careful, one noise and there would be so much gun fire in different directions that the camo would be about as useful as half-ton weights on their feet. They decided to enter from the west side since there was a cliff, and therefore being much less guarded. "Come on, the camo won't last much longer and I at least want to get into the building before it wastes away," said Gorjn in an undertone. Orfanse scowled in frustration as he looked at the side of the cliff. He had never been one for many emotions, but being pissed off at everything seemed to be his specialty. This sometimes annoyed Gorjn who wasn't exactly very fond of Orfanse's constant pessimistic attitude, but Orfanse was a good friend and a skilled shooter, so he's an okay guy all and all. They inched there way along the edge of the base. The ravine was a long drop down, and Gorjn was sweating in fear as he edged along the side. They stared up the side of the completely smooth wall. "How the hell are we supposed to get up that?" cried Orfanse in rage. Gorjn also looked up in irritation. He peered around the edge of the building to see if anybody was in earshot. There weren't, but he told Orfanse to keep watching incase anyone did come. After a small argument between the two about why the hell Orfanse needed to watch followed by a rock, paper, scissors match; Gorjn again crawled along the cliff. Then he fired his plasma pistol up and down the side of the wall, making hand-holds to the top where the windows were. Orfanse came back and smiled in approval at Gorjn's handy work. "Nice job, for once," he said in silent admiration of Gorjn. Gorjn smiled back, "lets just hope that we can be smart enough to get through the base its self." As they entered the base, their camo wore off. "No more of the covenant thinking that this place is haunted," smirked Orfanse in an undertone. They remained in the shadows as they snuck along. They stopped at a corner when they heard two jackals voices. " I'm going to the café to get some grub, want to come?" said the first. "Nah, I still have to patrol for another thirty minutes," said the second. Gorjn and Orfanse made a silent agreement. Orfanse needed a shield and here was the prefect opportunity for him to get a new one. They waited until the other jackal had gone, and then Orfanse crept up behind the second jackal. One quick bash to the head and the jackal was out like a light. They dragged the unconscious creature into an empty room. Orfanse took the shield and they again crept along the corridors. As they entered the docking bay there prayers were answered. There were few covenant in the area, considering the fact that patrols didn't switch for another day. The few that were there were half asleep or doing other things. There were a even a few engineers, but as usual they were completely intent on their work. Gorjn looked at one of the engineers in puzzlement. He had never seen one before and the site of one was extremely strange. They had huge bulbous eyes that could probably see in the dark, perfectly square teeth, large ears, short black fur, small very flexible arms with two joints, and their hands were small with six fingers on each one. Gorjn was so absorbed in the engineers that he didn't here the alarm right away. Do you remember the jackal that Orfanse had knocked out when they entered the building. Well his buddy had come back to see what was taking his friend so long and had set off the alarm when he saw the unconscious body of his comrade. Orfanse pulled Gorjn out of the way as a barrage of gun fire came to their location. The covenant in the room suddenly alert had immediately noticed the hideaways over in the corner. Gorjn sprinted over to a nearby banshee. If there was anything that Gorjn enjoyed about having any training in the covenant it was flying. Back on his home planet he had always stared at his pet hinjb and dreamed at soaring through the air and flying through the tundra at top speed. The banshee was probably the closest thing to that he would ever experience. He gave a scream of glee as he soared up and swooped down upon an elite that was attacking Orfanse. After he killed the elite he swung around and let loose and a shoot from his fuel rod cannon at a cluster of jackals. "Oh shit!" screamed Orfanse as a brute hopped up from behind a barrel and shot at him. Orfanse had just enough time to lift up his shield before the shot hit. The shield was obliterated by the shot and Orfanse wrist had been sprained by the power of it. Orfanse cowered down in fear as the brute smiled cruelly and brandished his rusty blade. Gorjn wasn't doing any better after he had dispatched the group of jackals. Ten elites had come into the room after the alert had been sounded. And sent a bombardment of plasma a the banshee. "Damnit, I can't hold her!" Gorjn hollered as the banshee flipped on it's back. The banshee crashed into the ground smashing into a nearby drop ship. Gorjn crawled out of the destroyed craft. He could see out of his singed eyes that the battle was coming to an end. Orfanse had been backed up into the area that Gorjn had crawled to. Gorjn knew that they were going to be killed, but there was one small hope. The dead covenant had many plasma grenades, and the grenades were scattered all over the floor. If he could just set off one it would create a chain reaction. He picked up a grenade on the ground near him. "Orfanse, how would you like to go out with bang?" said Gorjn weakly. Orfanse, whose face was almost covered in purple blood from the rusty blade of the brute he had been able to fend off,"go for it." Gorjn coughed up some blood and cried out, "okay! Here we go! Just before Gorjn could set the plasma grenade off there was a noise from the docking bay. "What the hell was that!?" cried Orfanse.

Gorjn was backed up against the dropship with Orfanse. He had the grenade that he had picked up in his hand. His palms were white with fear and rage as he stared at the approaching group of covenant. They had tried and failed to get off the planet, and now the were going to be captured, tortured, and then killed unless they did something. Grenades littered the ground, and Gorjn planed to set one off creating a chain reaction. Orfanse had had no objections to the plan, and if they were going to die they were going to take these bastards with them. Just before Gorjn could set the plasma grenade off there was a noise from the docking bay. "What the hell was that!?" cried Orfanse. "Attention all units," said a voice over a speaker, "prepare for emergency docking. Orbiting patrols have been attacked by a group of renegades in a T6 specter and have requested reinforcements. All maintenance crew report to the docking bay for immediate repair of damaged ships." Gorjn and Orfanse saw their chance and sprang into the dropship behind them. They were to weak to lift the door, but Gorjn tossed the grenade under the door. The blast knocked the door up to cover them. Gorjn smiled with satisfaction as he heard the screams of elites and brutes as ever single grenade went off in the room. "That has to burn like hell," grimaced Orfanse. "Yah, ten degree burn probably does a number on them," laughed in partial in insanity as his pushed the door back down and looked at the wreckage. Charred bodies were strewn all over the room on demolished ghosts and banshees. "Well at least we know the group isn't dead yet," sighed Orfanse in relief. "lets get off this hell hole," grunted Gorjn in pain as he checked singe marks all over his body from the plasma guns. Before they could even get half way to the dropship when two hunters came out of the side. "Just when we thought the battle was over these assholes have to screw everything up," groaned Orfanse. "Kill the traitors!!!" screamed the voice over the intercom. The hunters charged right at the two renegades. Orfanse sprang out of the way as one of the hunters slammed its giant shield into the ground where he had been standing a moment before. Gorjn knew his plasma pistol would have no effect and looked around the room for some thing that could at least distract the hunters long enough to get on the ship. A few days earlier a group of humans had attacked the base and the covenant hadn't gotten around to cleaning it up. Gorjn knew that human weapons are more effective. After he spotted the dead body of a marine that had been quickly pulled over into the corner and picked up the gun. He had never handled one before because it is considered a crime by the prophets to handle a human weapons, but he had always found that law a stupid. It had the same small design as a plasma pistol and had some thing on top that seemed to help him see farther than usual. "Damnit Gorjn hurry up and do something! I feel like a f*#$%@! ballerina hopping around like this," cried Orfanse as he bounced back and forth between the two terrifying hunters. Gorjn aimed his pistol at the back of the hunter closest to him and fired. The hunter crumpled like tissue paper. The other hunter turn around and roared with rage as he saw his dead bond-brother's body. The hunter came running at Gorjn with its arm ready to come down like a mallet. The hunter was almost on top of him when Gorjn unloaded his slugs into the stomach of the approaching monster. The hunter gave a wheeze of pain and fell forward right on top of Gorjn. Gorjn had enough time to let out an mournful eep before the dead hunter dropped on top of him with a thud. Orfanse pulled Gorjn out from under the dead body and they climbed into the dropship that had protected them from the blast earlier. As they took off into the sky they saw a large group of covenant ships coming at them. "I bet by now they been alerted of the two of us," mutters Orfanse. "They're all damaged, I think we can break through the smaller numbers on the upper left corner if we put more plasma energy in the speed and armor!" Gorjn screamed over the roar of the now volley of plasma fire from the approaching squad. Even as Orfanse redirected the energy, a blast from a full rod cannon ripped away at one of the sides of the ship. Gorjn let loose a onslaught of pink plasma fire on a close by banshee, and laughed with glee as it blew into shards of metal. The banshee was quickly replaced by three more. Gorjn screamed in rage as he dispatched one of the wretched flies of the sky. "Oh shit, I think you should take a look at this," moaned Orfanse as he pointed to the ship in front of them. "Is that a mother ship!? We can't take that out, aim for the right corner instead and get us the hell out of here," instructed Gorjn as the mother ship took its first shots at there already extremely damaged ship. "Activating lesser warp now," said Orfanse as they approached the right corner of the armada. Just before he could though a phantom shot right at the head of the dropship. The ship jolted violently as the beam hit. "navigation is down were going to make a blind jump to get out of here!" cries Orfanse as Gorjn sent off a few shots at the phantom that had hit them. "Damnit all! Okay but get us away from here as fast as possible," squeals Gorjn as another large chunk of the dropship came flying off and hit a banshee behind them. Orfanse pulled the lever taking them into hyper drive, "okay lets get off this hell hole, Initiating hyperdrive!"
It might be awhile for me to make the next story, so enjoy this one.
