Angels war
Date: 14 October 2003, 9:48 PM
Purple streaks was all that could be seen, hastily Blake changed the camera. It was dead.He heard a loud thump, his heart went cold. The convenant has boarded the station. "Crap" he said , "we're in for it now. "Angel tell captain Wood we've been boarded, and grab gun you'll need it." Angel's eyes were fixed on a camera positioned on the maintenance deck. "Snap out of it angel!" She did, her fingers worked as she opened communications with the command center. "Sir" she said "we've been boarded!" Captain Wood looked grimer than ever. "All hands, man your battle stations" The all significant red alert was heard trough the station. The station Thermopolis, practically on Earth's doorstep was under attack by the Convenant. It was all too true the Convenant had found the Earth, it was now a matter of time.
"You think we can win?" Angel asked as she grabed 4 frag's. "You want the truth?" Blake responded. She stared at him for a while. "Yes" "The truth is that we can't win Angel, those are 2 Convenant carriers out there. They have an army strong enough to take over a planet." Her face darkened. She was a psychic, but anyone could tell that rigth off the bat. She had blue-green hair, wich was rare even among psychics. Her mystic eyes were a ligth brown color. Blake on the other hand was a blonde haired, blue eyed American. He was a realist and knew death was not far off.
As they left the weapons locker, they saw marines fliping tables, hiding, and finding cover.
"Hell no, don't tell me those SOB's already got this far" said an impacient Blake. "Hell yes" said a ODST.
Blake surveyed the area. "Let's find cover" "let's" Angel responded. They found cover behind a flipped table, next to the same OSDT from before. He didn't say a word. A couple of marines ran into the room, they took positions near a work station. "There coming" said a marine. Seconds later they heard shouts, human and convenant. Three marines ran into the room, one of them tried to run for the hallway. An ODST punched him in the face, the marine took positions. They saw something blue and shiny, the room erupted with shots, an elite dropped dead.
A plasma grenade flew in, a marine caugth it in his helmet and threw it back helmet and all. As it exploded, convenant swarmed from the two entrances. At first they were getting shot up, but there were too many. Marines and ODST alike began falling back. The room was small and it was hard to hide, much less fall back.Blake shot blindly at the incoming convenant, there was no need to aim.Marines began to drop quickly. "I gotta do something, Angel get behind that wall and cover me" She did what he said. Blake ran out and grabbed an RPG from a dead marine, he collected as many grenades as he could without getting shot. An ODST yelled " good luck buddy". He ducktaped the grenades(plasma and frag)to the RPG. "Be careful Blake!"Angel yelled trying to beat the fire arms.
He turned around the corner as a plasma bolt struck his shoulder, he was blinded by the blast.Blake fired the suped-up RPG.It exploded in a blast of plasma and fire, the convenant were consumed in the blast. There was a brief pause as the soldiers stared at the hole it had made to the deck below. "DAMM!" a marine shouted. An ODST stood up and yelled "Get going, evacuate dammit!" Marines began scavenging for weapons before leaving the room. Angel filled Blake's wound with medical foam. "You'll be fine Blake, just don't move so much" It hurt and burned, but the tougth he'd saved marines filled his mind. "Hey you help me with him" Angel said to a frustrated marine. They helped Blake off the ground. The marine looked at him. "That was some awsome fireworks man, you did good today" As he said this his head exploded in blood and plasma. The three elites looked at the strange haired human female. Angel closed her eyes. "This is it" thought Blake. The aliens heads swelled and exploded in blue blood. Blake felt a strange energy in the air. He saw Angel faint to the ground. He felt lightheaded and his nose bled. That's when it hit him, it had been Angel she drained her powers to save them.He remembered his superiors talking about her powers. He tought it was just mind reading, and other useful stuff. Not this.
"Hey you, get over here.I'm closing the blast doors"said a marine. He carried angel through a series of hallways.Along the way he saw wouded soldiers, piles of weapons and ammo(from wich he took a few mag's), and marines discussing their predicament. He reached the imfirmery. "What's wrong with her"said a bloodstained nurse. "She killed three Elites, she used psychic" "She'll be fine, let her rest" Blake had to rout a couple of tired marines to get an empty seat where he could lie Angel. The room filled with ruccus. "THEY BROKE THROUGH THE DOOR!!" Here ends the first part of Angel's war.

A giant plasma beam wizzed by. "Hit the deck!"said a wouded marine. The explosion from the weapon was like a plasma cannon, it was too big to be a standart plasma rifle. "It's a hunter" a terrified marine said as he was cut to shreds by the hunter's spike blades. Blake immidiately picked Angel of the seat and proceded to carry her somewere safe.He heard a marine shout as he shoved a grenade through the armor of the hunter. "Die, you son of a bitch" yelled the marine as the hunter ripped his head off. The hunter exploded and drowned in his own gore. There were now jackals and grunts everywere. He then saw what he was looking for, an emergency casualty room set up by doctors who were themselves wouded. "Where can i put her?" he asked eagerly. A medic bathed in blood pointed at a blanket next to some plants, they also had blood stains on it.Blake gently laid her on the blanked. "You'll be fine Angel, i'll kill some bastards for ya" He ran out the room looking for a weapon. He didn't have to look hard a couple of plasma rifles layed on the floor, with blue stains on them.He grabbed two. As he reached the figthing, he heard a commanding office barking at the radio. "What do you mean you're not ready yet, i can't hold this position much longer". The voice of captain Wood was heard through the radio. "You hold or we all die, you understand me son!" "Yes sir" "Sir, were do you want me?" Blake asked "Go take cover were you want, soldier" said the exausted commander. Commander Black was as strong as a bull, and had a will that defied logic. His jet black hair had been cooked by plasma. Blake ran along side a couple of marines going into action. Plasma made them duck for cover. The room was filled with stationary anti-personel weaponry, manned by marines.Blake got behinnd a machine gunner ang began blasting away at a couple of stupid grunts. He scanned the room, the aliens were swarming in and began to see that this room would not be so easy to take.He saw an elite being cut appart by a dozen snipers shooting behind tables.Another elite picked up a grunt and activated the grenades in it's belt, then he lunged it at a group of marines. The grunt squealed as he flew and crashed on the floor, he shaked his head unaware of his grenades.Marines cleared the area as the clueless grunt blew up.Blake's rifle stoped shooting plasma. "Damn, just when you need'em most" he said as he looked around for another weapon. He picked up a needler. "Now that's what im talking about". The needles flashed by at a unsuspecting jackal hiding behind his shield, he droped dead.By now the convenant had begun to regroup and began launching serious attacks. Suddenly needles plunged into the machinegunner he was covering, the needles exploded into shards finishing him off. "Shit man" Blake cursed as he moved the lifeless body of the gun.He sat in the gunner's seat and began firing at a bunch of jackals trying to flank him.The jackal's shields gave way to the seventeen calibre rounds, they were nothing short of cannon fire. A wounded jackal fell from behind a corner and began to wail in pain, a elite showed himself briefly to crack his neck. The jackal had given away their position, they would pay dearly.Blake grabbed the five grenades from the dead gunner, and threw them all into the convenant hiding spot. He heard yells in their language as the grenades exploded. The remaining grunts were shot dead by marines.Only one stubborn elite clad in purple armor resisted. He knew his friends had left to prepare another attack and that he was alone. But he was a warrior and foolishly charged plasma gun raised. He barely got to sound his battle cry when the entire room fired at him, he was dead before he hit the ground. "Convenant swiss cheese muthafucker!" shouted an ODST. The room erupted with cheers.Marines began picking up convenant weapons, most of them were armed with alien weapons already.A marine took off an elite's armor. "Check it out, i think it my size" he joked. They began cheking out the bodies to make sure they were really dead.A jackal howled as he was kicked in the ribs, a marine grabbed a rifle and beat him to death. "No use wasting ammo" he laughed. Blake leaned against the wall and rested. About five minutes into his nap he was woken by captain Wood over the PA. "You've fougth well today soldiers, now it's time to leave. The CORTEZ, the cruiser stationed here is loaded and ready to go.In thirty minutes you will all board the CORTEZ, we'll jump into slipspace and get the hell outta here.Good day troops." Cheereing from the victory now grew, and soldiers began to pack up.A marine ran out of the computer room he looked terrified. "More convenant of all shapes and colors incoming" Blake cursed "Shit man how much more do we have to take" He heard a soft voice "two whole carriers full" Blake turned around, he saw Angel holding a plasma rifle smiling back at him. "Lemme at'em" she said.

Plasma streaked by like a swarm of locust.Marines fell screaming in pain ,their vulnerable flesh melting with plasma residue. The response was quick as the air filled with lead. "I'll give you cover fire," Angel shouted. "Fine just watch out,"Blake responded as he held the machinegun's trigger.
Commander Black shouted commands. "Marines go pick up the shields."
Marines scrambled to create a defensive formation with jackal shields. Commander Black shouted as he shot an elites head. "Go, get outta here."
The marines retreated under the cover of purple shields and machine gun fire. "Machine gunners stay in your post, give us covering fire!"
Blake turned to Angel. "Okay Angel get outta here now," he demanded. Angel responded, "fine but you better live." "Just go damn it!" he shouted as the convenant attack grew swifter and stronger. She bolted out the room, toward the cortez. A one legged ODST shuted over the gunfire. "Okay men let's get the fuck outta here"
Blake jumped out of his seat , picked up a jackal's shield, and ran with the other exausted sweaty marines toward the cruiser.Along the hallway he could still see soldiers taking crates to the cortez. The crates however weren't unsc regulation white but blue.A red top secret sticker was on all its sides. The smaller print read .
MJOLNIR mpt 33612
Whatever it was, it was top secret. And if you didn't want to get shot you learned not to get involved. The area that had been off limits a few hours before was now flooded with marines rushing to the battle cruiser.Blake was surprised with the number of supplies they had managed to load in the cargo bay in such a short notice.Besides the cortez there were two missile frigates, the talleyrand and the dartanian. He walked up the ramp to the cortez. The bay was full of marines, some with minor wounds. He leaned against a wall as the last group of ODSTs carried a casualty into the ship. The double lock doors began to close, he could see elites shooting their plasma rifles at the titanium doors with no effect. Realizing he was still holding the energy shield Blake let it slide from his hand, he dropped to the floor and before he knew it gave in to fatige. The cortez glided out of the station's dock along with the frigates. The convenant ships wasted no time in opening fire but the station took most of the plasma. The slipstream fujikawa engines ruptured space opening a ligth portal. The human ships accelerated in and the convenat ships would never see them again. Captain Wood had left them a little gift as a hydrogen bomb exploded in the station thermopolis consuming the two convenant cruisers. It was as if a piece of the sun had been plucked from its atmosphere and freed in space.
Three hours later Blake was woken up by his stomach. "Here you go,"said Angel as she tossed an MRE to him. "Have you been here all this time?" Blake asked. "Yeah, you sleep like a rock," Angel laughed. She smiled "hunger really is the best spice." "Ain't that the truth,"Blake said smiling back. "Im glad you're ok"Angel said. "Im glad you're fine too Angel,"Blake responded
As a group of ODSTs walked by one trooper said, "hey you're that guy who killed all those convenant with the suped up rpg, good job man" Blake waved back, he was intrigued, helljumpers never congratulated anyone but themselves. He felt victorious.Commander Black came by congratulating everyone. He gave a small speech on their so called victory.Blake and Angel mingled with marines the rest of the evening.
Later mps came by instructing everyone where their sleeping quarters resided.Everyone slowly vacated for their respective bedrooms. "Well, good nigth Angel," said Blake as he left to his quarters.
He walked down the soldier filled hallways searching for a door with a number six .He found it and to no surprise it looked exactly like the other doors. He walked in the Quiet room , most soldiers were already asleep. There was a dark skinned marine reading his mail.He took a palmcom from the shelf next to the only bed left.Blake opened his site and proceded to read his mail. There were three letters, one from FLEETCOM explaining the current situation, another one was from Dean Carter a friend he'd made during basic training. The last one was from home, he read it and fell asleep. As the cortez, the talleyrand and the dartanian flew in slipspace half the crew slept.Blake Anderson and Angel Nagase would live to figth another day.

The Prophet is the center of the room was tired of hearing stories. He wore a blue crown, which covered his neck and what looked like wings coming out of his back. His green eyes swiveled around and stopped on a golden Elite waiting to be heard. Finally he said something. "Speak !" The golden clad Elite waltzed in the room and stood in the center surrounded by other lower class Prophets. He began to speak.
"My Company launched an assault on a human warship today. I led my soldiers as usual, after several units of fighting we began to encounter armor-clad humans. " The Prophet raised his hand and the Elite stopped talking immediately. "Zaklee, tell me was this armor green" "No your Excellency, The armor changed colors to blend with its surroundings." "I see " said the Prophet "continue" "Well they were extremely agile and strong and our soldiers were cut down quickly, they weren't as powerful as the green ones but together they wiped us out. Their reflexes were unlike regular humans and there were more than a hundred of them in the ship alone." The Prophet didn't look surprised he'd heard the same thing all evening. "Zaklee are you implying this human technology is beyond that of the forerunners." Zaklee stared down, "no your Excellency I am simply stating facts." The Prophet seemed unpleased, "off the record Zaklee. What do you really think?" Zaklee seemed inpatient; "sir it was more advanced" "I see" said the Prophet "you can leave now." The Prophet addressed his comrades. "Brothers, it seems the simians have created a new armor, highly advanced and for their regular troops not just special soldiers. You must capture this armor so we may examine it. We must know what were up against, dismissed." One by one the Prophets slowly left the circular room.
1800 hours, December 1, 2554/UNSC cruiser Cortez on route to Mars.
The artificial sunlight shined on Blake's face like an alarm clock, and woke him instantly. He was still wearing his blood stained uniform. Marines around him were also waking up. Blake looked in his locker and inside was a new uniform, a fresh towel, and a toothbrush in its original packaging. He grabbed the towel and toothbrush as he proceed out the door toward the bathroom. Along the way there was a sea of marines headed the same direction. The bath area was huge but the crew was bigger and he still had to wait in the foul smelling line. Blake enjoyed the short but much needed bath. His wound still burned but it was small compared to what he'd seen. He headed through the crowded hallways back to room number six. He then but on his clean uniform and felt refreshed. "Come buddy it's time for chow," a marine said .He didn't know the marine but he talked with him along the way to the mess hall. He waited on another long line until he was able to get his breakfast. Scrambled eggs, ham, and bread good enough he though. The mess hall was enormous but it wasn't hard to spot Angels Blue-Green hair in a crowd. She ate fast, her hair dripping she didn't even bother to dry it "Good morning Angel" Blake said. "Ditto" she responded. Blake began to eat; it was actually good, and warm for a change. Angel finished her meal and began to eat a chocolate bar. " Had a good night Blake?" She asked. "Well you could call it that" Blake said as he ate a piece of ham. They finished eating and reported to the auditorium. It was filled to capacity and the ruckus was unbearable. Finally Captain Wood walked to the stage and everyone listened. "Good morning troops hope you all slept well last night because the convenant have attacked Mars. The UNSC thinks this is a preemptive attack to crush Mars and continue towards Earth. I can't tell you how important this Battle will be; you must give it your all, every single one of you. Now I will leave you with a speech Admiral Stanford made. Good luck." The room again filled with noises, but this time they were cries for revenge. The flat screen TV was lowered and Admiral Stanford's face appeared. "Soldiers of Earth, soon you will all take part in the most important battle in our history. A battle that will result in the defeat of the evil enemy who has brought chaos to hour homes. Even though we are from different nations, and of different races. We have fought, suffered, and died together. Fighting for what we believe in, fighting for freedom. Along with our allies and brothers in arms we will bring an end to the enemy war machine, and their oppression on our people. We shall gather for the final battle. And we will win this battle. We shall return peace to our people and our future." The room erupted in applause, as the speech ended. A message was heard over the PA. "All pilots report to pilot briefing room ASAP." Blake and Angel got up and headed toward the elevator with the other pilots in the ship. If there was one thing Blake was good at was piloting a fighter, it was in his blood. His grandfather had been a pilot in the Jovian moon wars. And his father had piloted a fighter against the same enemy he fought now. Angel was also a fairly good pilot and since she could predict the enemy's move quite easily due to her 'talents', she was an invaluable asset to the crew. The elevator came to a sudden halt and a green deck five sign flashed in the door. The pilots moved on toward the briefing room. As they reached it, they began to see how big the cruiser really was. There were three dozen men and women waiting to be briefed. That was a big number of fighters for a cruiser. The instructor and squadron leader Pierce Glanville waited patiently for them to take their seats. " Okay" he said " when you come face to face with those seraph bastards you will have an offensive advantage, your Longswords will be carrying the new mark V missiles. They deliver the same powerful plasma as your enemy does, and they are laser guided. You're enemy simply blasts a burst of unguided plasma which am sure you're glad to know. However you still have no shields, and you're enemy does. Your enemy is also faster, but your can over look that because you're more maneuverable."
Blake had heard that explanation many times before. But it still comforted him. " Okay" Pierce said "whom here has fought a convenant seraph?" Half the room raised their hands. Blake and Angel were not part of that half. "We don't know what kind of battle we'll find when we get there so be ready for anything" "Dismissed" The pilots then headed for the flight room. Angel and Blake put on their flight suits and began the arduous process of checking all the flight equipment including their Longsword fighters. If anything went wrong they could die all alone in space. After checking the equipment the pilots were to wait until they were needed. This was the worst part, the wait.
The Cortez along with the two frigates emerged slowly from slipspace, only to encounter lots of debris and a convenant cruiser. Captain Wood knew the debris would hide them from the radar for some time, but he had to act fast and seize the initiative. He ordered the MAC guns charged and missile pods loaded with archer plasma missiles. He sat in the 'hot seat' waiting for his chance to strike. Like a lion waiting in the meadows to kill his prey. Then he saw his chance. The convenant cruiser launched two ships, scouts he thought. The shields lowered to allow the ships to slip through. "Weapons officer, fire MAC rounds now and follow it up with plasma missiles!" He yelled Weapons officer Linda Warrington worked the controls and the MAC guns rumbled. The convenant cruiser took the full blow, the shields came up too late and several missiles got trough as well. The frigates Talleyrand and Dartanian also fired her missiles. The shield however still held and the ship fought back with a barrage of plasma torpedoes. The Cortez had already retreated behind the debris and a piece of an old UNSC carrier took the blow. " Are MAC guns charged yet!?" Wood asked. " Few seconds" said Linda. Exactly ten seconds later, the Cortez MAC guns fired again. The sizzled shield died after the first shot and the ship then exploded in its own plasma. The white-blue explosion incinerated the debris around the convenant ship. " All right " Wood said "navigations, were the hell are we and were is the main battle going on?" A young navigations officer worked together with the ships AI and a map of the battle popped up in three dimensions. Wood scanned the map. "Ok Rick take us to the nearest engagement zone" The Cortez glided towards the main battle site afterburners rumbling. Its real battle would was about to begin.
Here ends Angel's war IV stage.
